I have tears rolling down my face. Thank you @Nezik_Keshto for bringing this to the attention of so many LFC fans who had not heard of this beautiful mark of respect. If I had known at the time, I think I would have also been a supporter of AC Milan for 20+ years by now! Grazie!
@drufuss2006 Look up Hillsborough 1989 and you will see many videos of the that awful day when 96 Liverpool fans went to watch a match and did not return.
Baresi, Maldini,Costacurta,Rijkard,Gullit & Van Basten, i'm glad such an epic team had such great fans.Antoniloli was their goalkeeper..he is still playing! I am a sampdoria fan.
I was watching this game on TV and couldn't help weeping a bit at this gesture. To this day I consider it the most poignant example of the global brotherhood of football fans. I live in the US now and frequently invoke this episode as I try (mostly in vain) to explain to Americans why they're lame-ass sports like baseball or NFL will never be able to equal the significance REAL football has to the world.
Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic, and an example to football fans the world over that even though the game is our life, that we all love our teams and hate our rivals, we're all the same. Thank you, Milan fans.
...I was at the Liverpool / Nottingham Forest semi final in 1989........this gesture was something of an urban legend...........I'd heard about it.......but never witnessed it with my own eyes until I saw it here.......one of the most moving things I have ever seen...... it is phenomenal that a minutes silence was held in such a way... & in such an important game........ but........ the bit that makes me emotional is the gradual rising of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from the back of the stands.
...I was at the Liverpool / Nottingham Forest semi final in 1989........this gesture was something of an urban legend...........I'd heard about it.......but never witnessed it with my own eyes until I saw it here.......one of the most moving things I have ever seen...... it is phenomenal that a minutes silence was held in such a way... & in such an important game........ but........ the bit that makes me emotional is the gradual rising of 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from the back of the stands....
Here 2 Great European football teams stand side by side to share the moment of respect for another great teams lost followers. RIP those who went away that horrible saturday. God bless them all.
A truly beautiful moment. Twice have Liverpool and Milan met in the Champions League final, each with a different result, and the tremendous respect shown by Milan fans to Liverpool FC and their faithful. My hats off to them not only as a football fan, but a fan of good, respectful human character and respect.
It's probably true to say that Liverpool FC and AC Milan are brothers in football. Not an opinion shared by all, but I believe it.
I have only just heard about this, and to see this video as a Liverpool fan is very moving. A fantastic tribute that speaks volumes about the fans who organised it. To take the time to share in the grief of those who tragically lost loved ones in the Hillsborough disaster with a show of such solidarity simply demands respect. AC Milan's fans will always have my utmost respect for this. Forza Milan!
A tribute from one great footbal team, and their supporters to another great football team and their supporters... In doing what they did Milan showed they are a class act. God bless Milan,,and god bless Liverpool.
AC Milan fans, in the days following the disaster, printed off song sheets with the words to You'll Never Walk Alone and handed them out amongst their support with a plea to learn them for the next home game, only 4 days after the disaster. A gesture was planned to stop the game at 3.06pm (the time of the game being stopped at Hillsborough) and hold a minutes silence.
i seen this video many many times,i was at hillsborough, people died 5meters in front of me,people died 5metres behind me,i was very lucky that day and even to this day i can not believe what happened,i was at heysel 4years before that!!
What did the referee think at 00:59 when he turned his head to hear the crowd? Did he think they were being disrespectful by breaking the silence in respect of the 96? Did he realise they were paying the greatest respect they could for a Liverpool supporter? I hope he did.
per tutti voi appassionati di calcio che ricercate un'opportunità per essere visti o che volete vedere dei futuri professionistiè online un nuovo sito KICKO.
But I remember that the day before some newspapers reports wrote something about "that little group of stupid guys that havn't respect the silence ... !"
No words for them: self-righteous bogus deceitful and ignorant
thats was so nice for them to pay tribute to Liverpool by doing that. even though i'm a american manu fan, i feel liverpool's pain, since in 1958, 8 ManU players died in a plane crash
The ref stopped the match 6 minutes into the match and had a minute silence for the 96 and some A.C fans sang you'll never walk alone in respect for the 96
20 years late i know but thank you to the rossoneri for that tribute. When the police, press and politicians here treated the deceased and relatives in such a disgusting way, to know genuine fans were out there showing their support meant a lot . More than you will ever know
Bravo Milan e Bravi i tifosi del Milan. Bruno Pizzul didn't comment on the wonderful tribute paid by the "Fossa dei Lioni" when they sang "You'll never walk alone" ...... but everybody heard it. Civediamo in Champions League l'anno prossimo. MILAN e' GRANDE ! From a Liverpool fan a Santarcangelo di Romagna.
Why is there so much hatred being posted here for such an amazing and moving show of support? In reference to the Heysel tragedy, true Liverpool fans (myself included) feel appalled and saddened by what happened that night, you cant tar us with the same brush, there was a small section of both fans out to cause trouble that night and due to the state of both the security and surroundings it led to a few mindless fans able to act out their hooligan behaviour that had devastating consequences,
Thats a real classy show of respect to those 96that left us on that surreal day. I'm a lifelong liverpool fan but somethings are bigger than football. I look back and think to myself why does it takes a catastrophe like this to learn a lesson and what pisses me off is ignorant people that listened to the poison of the Sun and the Star talking about it and putting down to crowd trouble.I dont know how those responsible can sleep at night knowing that they covered up the truth. JUSTICE FOR THE 96
I remember this game on Sportsnight and thinking what an unbelieveable tribute from 2 of the best teams in the world at the time. It also served to confirm what a terrible event it was at Hillsborough. I recall the 1989 season well as my team, Colchester had a pretty good run to the 5th round. As a 13 year old kid i dreamed we would play Liverpool in the final. I watched with great sadness yesterday the memorial service from Anfield and realised how much our game has changed. RIP 96
how come no one in england gave a shit when a part of a stadium collapsed in the ivory coast killing 22 ppl at a football game. youd think ppl so closely affected woth hillsborough disaster would be affected by it, but they didnt seem to care
OmenWish - A Norwegian Man Utd fan? Immediately your ignorant , ill-informed, tabloid droning is explained, another cry for attention/help. Seriously, shut the fuck up.
Fuck off Omenwish. Read up on Hillsborough before you post ignorence like this. This liverpool supporters killing their own comes from a quote from a drunkard managers biography and is spread by ignorent idiots.
Justice for the 96 in the biggest organised cover up in British history. Heysel and Hillsborough can't be linked with such blaseness.
you fucking scummy piece of discharge! You want to do some research before you go around shouting false statements like that. I hope one day you will never have to endure such a experience.
listen you fucking inbread go back to your shack in the woods. You know fuck all you tramp, your a cretin who thinks hes big causing murder via a keyboard. Let me in on how you know more than most were you there? no you fucking Norwegian glory hunting throwback, do one!
I ve talked with quite a few of the forest supporters who were there. Weird how no one bother with their side of the story really. Im NOT saying it wasnt a tragedy, but the lppol supporters should stop blaming everyone else but themselves, when they are the ones to blame.
We might swell end this here you just blew yourself up you cock, you spoke to the opposing fans.....accurate. You have just disrespected mothers sons dads daughters etc who went to watch a football game and never come home because of dire policing at its best, But you were probably chopping firewood back then.
Imo, the ones left after the tragedy in lpool are the ones who disrespect them. Instead of taking blame for it, and actually try to improve, the same bunch of retards go on and on, blaming The Man. Keep blaming everyone else, u scousers are such a great group of people!
im not going to waste time on a mancunian norwegian brain dead who follows speculation. If we were to blame tell me why the head of police has accepted full responsibility yesterday? No didnt know that one? yeah wont have reached the outback just yet.
started it by being lead into pens by police authority, knowing they were full. Learn your history, nobhead before coming out disgracing innocent people, who did more to save lives than any police did.
that was unavoidable, heysel was to do with violence. liverpool should have been destroyed after that. fair play to the juve fans who turned their back when liverpool played juve.
I wasn't aware of this, even tho I am a Villa fan this made me proud for football. This is the good side of football we should never forget.

RIP 96

OmenWish - A Norwegian Man Utd fan? Immediately your ignorant , ill-informed, tabloid droning is explained, another cry for attention/help. Seriously, shut the fuck up.
Aladinho1978 2 years ago
Fuck off Omenwish. Read up on Hillsborough before you post ignorence like this. This liverpool supporters killing their own comes from a quote from a drunkard managers biography and is spread by ignorent idiots.
Justice for the 96 in the biggest organised cover up in British history. Heysel and Hillsborough can't be linked with such blaseness.

In the end, it was no shock that it was lpool supporters. Look at their history.
and justice for the 96? what about justice for the 39?
In the end it was lpool supporters killing lpool supporters. Sad but true.

you fucking scummy piece of discharge! You want to do some research before you go around shouting false statements like that. I hope one day you will never have to endure such a experience.

I think I know more than most about the tragedy. I m just saying what most dont dare to say cause its not politically correct.

I ve talked with quite a few of the forest supporters who were there. Weird how no one bother with their side of the story really. Im NOT saying it wasnt a tragedy, but the lppol supporters should stop blaming everyone else but themselves, when they are the ones to blame.
now fuck off
OmenWish 2 years ago
We might swell end this here you just blew yourself up you cock, you spoke to the opposing fans.....accurate. You have just disrespected mothers sons dads daughters etc who went to watch a football game and never come home because of dire policing at its best, But you were probably chopping firewood back then.
cabooselea 2 years ago
we might aswell.
Imo, the ones left after the tragedy in lpool are the ones who disrespect them. Instead of taking blame for it, and actually try to improve, the same bunch of retards go on and on, blaming The Man. Keep blaming everyone else, u scousers are such a great group of people!
OmenWish 2 years ago
im not going to waste time on a mancunian norwegian brain dead who follows speculation. If we were to blame tell me why the head of police has accepted full responsibility yesterday? No didnt know that one? yeah wont have reached the outback just yet.
cabooselea 2 years ago
hehe, discuss case or nationality?
What else would u suspect now? Mistakes were done, but it was the lpool supporters who started it. Accept, learn.
OmenWish 2 years ago
started it by being lead into pens by police authority, knowing they were full. Learn your history, nobhead before coming out disgracing innocent people, who did more to save lives than any police did.
