@Edobification I was contemplating doing a tool "melody" actually of all my favorite beats/parts. not sure how well it would flow together though so for now its just a maybe.
Are there seriously people giving you hate on this? Dude, this is one of the most insane covers I've ever seen. Haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.
Dude as soon as I saw that you were doing an Animals as Leaders cover, I knew some serious shit was going down. NOT DISAPPOINTED - this is fucking awesome.
FUCK WHAT EVERYONE SAYS...this was a great cover...not that noone can cover it...its that you can play within the realms of whats was originally created and you did it...live or not i would thought you were navene himself
This is seriously the best Animals As Leaders drum cover I have ever seen , I'm pretty sure Navene would be shock to listen to this , its so perfect , good cover bro , but what do you mean the drums were programmed?
who cares if the song has programmed drum beats going on? the fact that this guy can play in time with them is proof that humanity is taking music further..let the haters hate
They weren't written by periphery they were written by the main guitarist, misha mansoor, and turns out Matt halpern was actually going to be AAL''s drummer but misha asked Matt to replace Travis orbin
Hey man, I give you props insane cover, what is the time signature out of curiousity, It feels like it changes, but I was wondering at least the predominant one, I can't count it right
Just to clarify these drums were written by bulb (periphery) and were in fact programmed. Navene however, plays them live obviously. Just to clear up the whole "cover" thing. This is an awesome cover and a very difficult song to play....props
@AboutSelix I'm pretty sure the drums on this song were programmed, so any person that learns this would be "covering" it in a way. I just tried to stick to the CD programming rather than improv off it like Navene does (which is awesome).
@benanders0n just read an interview on him, he programs about 60% of the drums. and if i may so so myself sir, bang up fucking job. keep on keepin on. \m/
@FearAbsence it was actually Misha Mansoor and Tosin who did the entire album, Tosin did the guitars and production, and Misha did the rest, and it was a drum machine
@benanders0n Though some were actually recorded by Matt Halpern of Periphery on the first album, and some were programmed by Misha. If you go on Matt's youtube channel (HELLPERN) you can see him do practice runs of AAL songs.
@xomegaweapon1987x Yeah, drums were programmed on album Misha "Bulb" helped Tosin record it and mix and such then Tosin got all the band members together
@Metalmachine18 i don't speak english and understand maybe 50% of what your saying . so stop name everyone has an idiot and go eat a Twelfth Night cake
@AboutSelix Their first album is all programmed, and written by a guitar player. Which is also akin to Chimp Spanner, Veil of Mayas first album, and The Faceless' first album. This dude did a damn good job.
All of AAL's songs are pretty savage. Huge props getting it down man :) I would never even attempt one of their songs! If you're ever looking for some more songs to cover you should check out some of Pianos Become the Teeth. Most of their songs usually have pretty spastic drumming but still very cool to listen to and fun to play.
You should definitely get more views, and not just for this cover, your other covers/interpretations are equally good. I'm gonna linked you heavily. The new year is promising for you and for us viewers.
i see you have dw's! i have dw's as well but i cant quite adjust them in a way where it doesnt feel like im running under water playing them, any tips?
@smellsliketeenidiot I just get the springs as tight as possible! still even a little too hard to feel for my taste but if I have enough kick in my in-ears or wedge then its great!
@smellsliketeenidiot have you tried adjusting the footboard angle? I've played around with them on my 5000; went from the highest setting to the lowest setting..i currently have them on the lowest angle and it feels great...also put beater weights on them but place them as close to the cam as they can possibly go...hopefully this helps
Damn, anyone who can correctly drum to this is pretty amazing to me because all of the drums on that album were programmed. While it is possible it takes some definite dedication which you very obviously have. One question, did you trigger your snare head to get it to sound like that or just tuned it to that?
What kind of drum heads do you prefer to use for recording and live shows? Also how do you like the Z3s, I want to upgrade to A customs but they're pretty expensive.
@PBALLERAZ I used to be ALL about evans coated g2's, however I got a set of clear emperor heads for my toms and a black x snare head for recording awhile back and loved it (heads in this vid), along with a superkick 2 for the batter side kick head. they hold up live too so that's what I would recommend. I like the z3's a lot actually! still use a custom for my hats and ride cause they hold up, but Im very happy with my 18/19 z3 crashes :)
@Wade0Nixon thanks man! diggin the zelda cover btw. its a Pearl Reference kit with a Pearl Steve Ferrone Sig.
