@need2speed94 stock LS2 gto's are more like low 13 second cars but yeah altitude could make a huge(1-2 seconds) difference but you would have to be up in the Rockies or something. The trap speeds (97.2 and 102.2) suggest that some factor was sapping the power because the goat should be trapping around 104-107 and the sti should be around 100-103. Can't seem to find any info on where the test was done though. Some people say you lose .1 for every 600 ft

@Armani335i07 Ls3 heads and a nice cam swap into an LS2 and you'll be right around 500rwhp. last i checked, you have to dive into the internals of the 2.5 and forge them before making much more than 450whp with the Subie.

also GM is bringing the GTO back as the caprice or new impala in the future using the same holden platform that the GTO is built on. the GTO was basicly a rebadged holden in the 1st place. the GTO is not dead just hiding in a different closet for now lol.

STi= recaro seats,brembo brakes,turbocharger,HID headlights,BBS wheels,funtioning areo, AWD, front and rear LSD and adjustable center diff control, too much to list basicly.

its a monaro, from AUSTRALIA, that's what it starts as before the design is shipped overseas and becomes pontiac and vauxhall, it has twice the cylinders, almost over 2x the displacement, 1/2 the doors and drives half as many wheels with that extra 100hp, yes they both have their merits but really, it just follows the typical American design principle, rear wheel drive, lots of power, goes good in straight line, the sti has just been designed for more than dragging, its a much better car...
But if you want a track car, because you guys seem to always have track experience with your Wrx's... There are soooooo many better track cars out there, if that's what you are looking for. But remember, some of us actually drive on city roads, where your lap times mean nothing to us.

Take the GTO's engine and 6 speed and place it in a 1997 Nissan 240SX and it will smoke Vette's. I know, I own one and it's a 11 sec. quarter mile. Add in a custom cold air intake and header with a single exhaust and it's a sleeper to the core. Open it up and then the music begins and everyone wants to know what's under the hood. The entire vehicle was modified to handle to power.......love it!

The 04-06 Pontiac GTOs were manufactured at the Holden factory in Elizabeth, South Australia. All 40,808 of them.
There has never been a RWD V-Platform car manufactured in the USA.

also GM is bringing the GTO back as the caprice or new impala in the future using the same holden platform that the GTO is built on. the GTO was basicly a rebadged holden in the 1st place. the GTO is not dead just hiding in a different closet for now lol.

The GTO / Holden Monaro was built on the V-platform. That platform was pronounced dead back in 2006.
The VE Commodore / Pontiac G8 and any other planned variants like the Chev Caprice are on the Zeta platform. Completely different.

STi= recaro seats,brembo brakes,turbocharger,HID headlights,BBS wheels,funtioning areo, AWD, front and rear LSD and adjustable center diff control, too much to list basicly.
price point and performance the STi wins hands down value wise. oh and subarus are made in america now retards (aside from the STi tho lol) imports are more american than the big 3 anymore lol.

lol edmunds cant drive for shit. i bested thier time in my girlfriends stock 05 STi and ran a 13.01 @ 109 day after she got it home from the dealer. the key here is power to weight and how it throws it down. the GTO is still a great car (glad austrailia did a good job designing it VS american GM) anyway i have friends with both and both can be grate cars. i love the hillbilly negative comments. just enjoy fast cars, isnt that what its about? both are great cars.

STI is no legend...Nice respectable car.. but no where near a legend..I see a million of them around and after like 30k the burn oil and the engines blow around 45 if ya have work done to them. GTO awesome car for the dollar and more rare than the sti...making it more legendary if anything. more horses per dollar, bigger and a more luxurious ride.

its a monaro, from AUSTRALIA, that's what it starts as before the design is shipped overseas and becomes pontiac and vauxhall, it has twice the cylinders, almost over 2x the displacement, 1/2 the doors and drives half as many wheels with that extra 100hp, yes they both have their merits but really, it just follows the typical American design principle, rear wheel drive, lots of power, goes good in straight line, the sti has just been designed for more than dragging, its a much better car...

Take the GTO's engine and 6 speed and place it in a 1997 Nissan 240SX and it will smoke Vette's. I know, I own one and it's a 11 sec. quarter mile. Add in a custom cold air intake and header with a single exhaust and it's a sleeper to the core. Open it up and then the music begins and everyone wants to know what's under the hood. The entire vehicle was modified to handle to power.......love it!

The GTO is a rebadged Holden Monaro. It is a 2 door version of the Holden Commodore, designed and built in Australia, not Canada.
Pontiac had fuck-all to do with it. Holden slapped a Pontiac badge on it and put it on a ship bound for the USA.

@POPtheoriginal wouldn't be well over 500 with cam and bolt ons, you're looking at no more than 450 to the wheels..i have full bolt ons and dynoed at 400 rwhp which is where almost every full bolt on goat is at and a cam is going to give it no more than 50. but still your right id take a gto anyday, I may be biased because I have one, daily drive it everyday, and I love it but I even test drove an sti before I bought the goat, didn't even come close to it.

Throw on alky injection, shorten the waste gate rod and you can get 20# of boost and deep into the 12's. Some light bolt on will get you in the 11's and this is all with 25 year old technology. turbobuick. com check it out
