If you don't hear "How to Disappear Completely" on the opening to "For 12" I don't know how to better illustrate Radiohead's influence on Other Lives. And now they are opening for Radiohead...its going to be a fucking awesome tour!
@bloodriver3lol No its fucking not Radiohead!! I'm fed up with Radiohead fans claiming that nearly anything and everything slightly interesting/progressive is based on the band.
Firstly, and I hate to break it to you, but the falsetto has been used commonly in music since around the 15th century. And if you really want to go down that route, Jeff Buckley is often seen as a modern pioneer of falsetto, and Thom Yorke even admits that he gained ispiration from him. Secondly, there isn't even any falsetto in this song so that argument is invalid.
Progressive.. Minor key based..? I'm not even going to bother explaining the stupidity of these claims. Around half (maybe slightly below) of Western music is written in the Minor key. Are you high son!?
Again, there's tonnes of music in the harmonic minor scale. I really can't believe that you actually think that radiohead are most prolific users of the harmonic minor scale today. Also, this song is in the major scale for some parts and the natural minor scale for others. There are no harmonic minor parts at all.
@DiCruzzz Really? They're really different, true but this particular song has a lot of Radiohead in it and if you don't see it, especially when Radiohead is your "fav band", I'm a bit confused.
@JonasLikesDonuts really, tell me a song of radiohead that slightly reminds you of kunek, the voice of the kunek singer in this first song might resemble the voice of the leading singer of radiohead in some songs, but not that many, the only thing they are equal in is, they are both indie bands.. nothing else
@DiCruzzz Well.. the singing and the chords remind me of Radiohead. Other than this song I wouldn't really compare Other Lives/Kunek to Radiohead and if you'd read my comment you'd notice that I was speaking about this song and not Kunek in general.
@DiCruzzz bloody hell Jonas... this is an amazing song, but it's like a mini-compilation of different Radiohead influences! That's not a bad thing at all, but I really do hear an awful lot of Radiohead influence in this. They both have another thing in common.. they're both fantastic bands! :)
@xiaosainzboy one of the original founding members left the band, and their frontman/songwriter felt the name change was necessary...it's a bit of a shame because I think this album is a gem, these songs need to be played for people....
That's the beauty of Independent music ;) It's our little secret, something just for the few of us who are lucky enough to discover them. Makes it that much more special and unique.
