Johnny Depp is making a big-screen version of The Lone Ranger soon, but the masked guy who ends up yelling “Hi-yo, Silver!” better get used to being the sidekick.
I guess the brief pauses when a "brief and important message" is announced , these would be where the U.S. broadcast would have had adverts. I watched the series on BBC in the 50s and the Lone Ranger was my hero. Even as a child I sussed the "ham" acting , though !

I can remember the BBC showing "The Lone Ranger" in the 1950s. Mercifully there were no adverts to spoil the show - there was no such thing as commercial TV in Britain at the time. Jay Silverheels was my hero! Simple adventure, but great TV for its time, and the use of Rossini's "William Tell" for the theme music was inspired.
I'm 48 and my grandpa died when I was around 9 years old, so I have very few memories of him. I do remember watching the Lone Ranger with him. Thanks for the video's it brings back some fond memories.
A fiery horse with the speed of light! A cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo, Silver! The Lone Ranger! It would be nice to see a good role model for today youth...the Lone Ranger stood for honesty, fairness and justice.
Yeah, terrymarvin2009, I remember watching The Lone Ranger every Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 PM on KXTX, channel 39 in Cedar Hill, Texas in the '70s and '80s. They'd show two episodes, back-to-back, each day. A great show, and great memories...
Jay Silverheels who played Tonto went on to become a very talented harness racer (not sure exactly what they're called). We
saw him in the Meadowlands in Pennsylvania. Children of that era had good heroes who helped teach right from wrong. Also, we gobbled down boxes of General Mills cereals which made us stronger to be like the Lone Ranger!
I once met Clayton Moore when I was an adult. When I shook his hand it was like a rock, he had to be in his sixties, he was really a strong person. Long live his memory
"The Lone Ranger" was on before my time. But I remember watching it in Syndication on Channel 39, back in the 60's and 70's, In Richardson, Texas, when I was a teenager. I used to watch a bunch of Westerns when I was a teenager. Sincerely, Terry
I'm two years older than the Long Ranger TV show. It was always one of my favorites along with Rin Tin Tin, Roy Rogers and Sgt Preston of the Yukon. Those were the days!
The Lone Ranger was before my time. Born in 1967, I was a school house rock kid. Shazam, Super friends, etc.
My dad always talked about the Lone Ranger. Born in 1938, he listened to the radio shows before the tv shows. I remember him showing me his Lone Ranger costume.
Here I am (41), watching the shows he enjoyed, They are very good! I'm already hooked. I think I'll book mark this for my son who's 9. This sure beats the pants off Fairly Odd Parents and Sponge Bob. Much more adventure!!
Does any one know how many Silver's the Lone Ranger used in this series. some of the white horse's look a little heavy footed . They look good running, but not very fast. Then at other times the white horses look thinner, and can really run. I also noticed when there is a close up of Silver, some the white horses have a wide thick nose, and sometimes the white horse's nose is thinner and not as wide. This series ran a long time , so I know there had to be 3 or 4 different horses called Silver
johnny depp is no longer making a big-screen version of the lone ranger. cancelled by walt disney - probably he can do it with his own money...
