  • No words can describe how beautiful this is, and yet only tears can describe how painful it must feel

  • Story of Flandre's life. A life of imprisonment in her own basement for 495 painful years.

  • Q.E.D: The Sadness of 495 years

  • instant fave

    must have pic

    beautiful melody

    instant fave

    thank you

  • skillpenis

  • I DEMAND AN MP3 LINK.

  • Best version EVAH!

  • @UnnamedxUser Because your opinions makes things factual.

  • this made me see flandre completly differently

  • ran ran ruuuu!!!

  • son i am dissapointed

  • Flan is a good lil girl, if her big sister tells her to stay in a dark room without making anything implodonate, she does it, but nothing prevents her from breaking unwanted quests

  • Damnit why can't I hit like :(

  • You people over analyze Touhou. Really.

It's a game and this is music. |:

  • @StylishxHans Some people like to over-analyze, I guess. It happens to movies and cartoons, why not bullet hell series?

  • @StylishxHans Perhaps that's how it started, but the thing is, that's simply not true anymore. Fandom has taken the character ideas, and through fan works, have taken them in many different, many quite interesting directions to the point where it is indeed possible to analyze these things without it becoming "too much." In other words, the depth or lack of depth of Touhou's characters is largely generated by the fandom itself. We don't add to canon, we actively create it.

  • Thats the great thing about Zun's characters. They all have great possible backstories, but he leaves a few places for the fans to do the thinking.

That being said, there really is no reason for us to start arguing about it, either... >.>

  • @EniliasNailo I didn't say she kills everybody she sees, all I said was she likes killing people. there are times when she doesn't feel like killing but most of those times consist of when Remilia or somebody else is with her or she could also have one of those moments where she just doesn't want to kill.

  • best version ever!

  • Absolutely gorgeous. It's nice to hear a gentler version of U.N. Owen instead of the typical crazy stuff. Not that I have anything against the typical, those are amazing too, but it's not every day you see a treasure like this.

I've come to the conclusion that anything with 'TAMusic' on it is bound to be great.

  • Why are ratings disabled? What's wrong with 100% thumbs up?

  • Such a beautiful piece of music.

  • She's such a misunderstood child, she's not insane she just likes to kill people

  • @TokikoNyuu Uuuh... By that logic, if I liked going around killing people, I wouldn't be insane??

  • @SonicBrawler1992 exactly

  • @SonicBrawler1992 Logic and common sense don't exist in Gensokyo.

  • @BlanFan2O Gotcha :P

  • if flandre wrote a poem i can almost gaurantee you it would them most deepest verse you ever heard

  • why does remilia has Flandres crystals

  • @mrxai658 There's no Remillia here. That's Flandre, you know.

  • @Teta268 I just probably made confusion again X_X oh bother

  • jeez 1 minute in and I'm already tearing up, I wonder how I'll react to the rest...

  • beautiful just so damn beautiful.

  • Best song ever when it comes to sadness.

This is truly outstanding, emitting a lot of expression from being locked up for too long and staying locked up for probably the rest of her life.

    Love it!

  • Fuck man. This is soooo good.

  • This song make my wishes to start playing Violin!!! Thank TAMUSIC for all of this!!!!! AMAZING JOBS!!!! AMAZING MUSIC!!! IM THE FAN #1 SEE YOU GUYS IN JAPAN!!!!

  • imo this remix could be just perfect if they added the 2:00-2:30 part in the song twise or 3 times.oh i so love that part

  • @hunter0fdawn agreed, that part was so full of pure epicness/awesomness that i shivered,i was pretty much struck by the beauty of that part *manly tears*

  • @Vasari12

manly tear? I could go gay for flan. damn you remillia what did flandre did to you to deserve this!!!

  • i am so deeply moved. i've not heard anything so beautiful in so long.

  • some parts seem to have a kingdom hearts feel to them

  • sheesh man! who ever made this can make "Bennyhill" theme sounds really sad :3

  • TAM is a F$%&%G master! And he has another beautiful and awesome one soon incoming ;D

  • @Boromir23786 you forgot a character

  • @Moonlover70 god you made my day

    thank you xD

  • @xxKuro1 *bows before you* :3

  • Very sad feeling...

  • I was thinking, If Remilia can control fate and made it Flandres to stay locked in a cellar for eternity, doesnt it make sence that with Flandre's ability, to Destroy anything and everything, can she destroy fate itself?

  • @GentlemanAeon777 Fate is not a physical object though, Flandre needs to grasp an "eye", aka center of tension, in her hand to destroy something. Fate has no such "eye" as it is an abstract concept.

  • @Archimonde259 So, her own power can only affect physical objects? Wow, what if she destroyed Remilia, last I checked as long as there was, lets say a particle, of her left, she can regenerate herself. Flandre could have enough time to escape and possibly live with Reimu?

  • @GentlemanAeon777 Certainly. But Remilia is most likely constantly writing fate to ensure this will never happen - got to, with someone like Flan in the basement - and I doubt Reimu would care about Flan anyways. She has enough problems as it is, especially lazy as she is.

  • I hope that theres a game where Marisa, Reimu, and Yukari team up to Break out Flandre. She at least could get a good ending.

  • Arg, stop piercing into my heart!!! :'(

  • T.T

  • ZUN damn it... TAMusic makes me cry again. For once I'm glad for all of Flandre's remixes, if this can result from them.

  • This is a beautiful and unique interpretation of an otherwise dark and crazy song.

The song makes me see Flandre in almost a "tragic heroine" sense.

  • She IS in fact a tragic heroine.

I mean, she's a little girl who's been locked up inside a basement. For 495 years. And will probably be for the rest of her life. Because she has a gift that has become her curse, and anything around her is bound to explode. A little girl who knows nothing of the outside world, who's going insane from being locked up for so long... to add assault to injury, BY HER OWN SISTER.

Screw the ancient Greeks and others! Hamlet? Peuh! Flan is the stuff of tragedies =(

  • Maybe someone ought to do an opera or a play about Flan. "Curse of the Devil's Sister" sounds like a good name... I'd so totally go see it...

  • Oh oh. Flandre could marvel at a flower in a little sad scene where she holds it in her hands and be like 'It's so pretty... big sister today said it was called a flower. She said there are lots of flowers outside. I hope sometime I can go outside and see the flowers...' And then have it disintegrate in her fingers because of her powers. '...but big sister told me I can never go outside.'

  • Maybe for the end, Marisa shows up for the first time and accidentally breaks the lock on the basement, causing Flandre to escape and reach the SDM's garden and see the outside for the first time? Then she's dragged, kicking and screaming, back to the basement by the rest of the SDM cast, where the door is not only padlocked, but riveted and magically sealed, too. Except for a little slot for food. The end. (That would be the ultimate tragedy.)

  • Remember: at the end of a tragedy, everyone has to die.

Therefore, alternative ending: Flan slaughters everyone in the SDM who kept her inside... first China... then Sakuya... and finally her own sister.

Then she can finally go outside, but she feels so guilty that nothing gives her pleasure anymore.

Therefore... "one little vampire girl left all alone, she went and hanged herself and then there were none."

  • actually parts of it is true parts of it is false:

flandre is locked up of her own free will, as we all know, she can leave anytime she wants and no one can stop her ;), and her so called gift also comes with a curse: she's insane :3

other than that, i agree it is pretty tragic

  • @Archimonde259 She was locked up because she was insane and had no real control over her power. She wasn't locked up and then went insane.

(Also if you read Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red you'll see that she's allowed out of her basement).

  • @LOZFFVII Oh really? Insane? Maybe you have met her, to assert this with such certainty? There is a lot of mysteries around Flan, but from what we se of her, Flandre is certainly not a complete psycho like certain people make her to be. Indeed, she always obeys her sister and remains if not in the basement, but at least within the mansion - she could break out at ANY TIME - and she uses danmaku in battle just like everyone else, instead of blowing everything up like a true psycho would.

  • @Archimonde259 Well, your argument certainly is a difficult one to combat against.

Other than the following description of Flandre given in her description from the Touhou Wiki:

"Because of her unstable personality and incredible destructive power, her sister has had her locked up in the basement for nearly 500 years."

With emphasis on "unstable personality" implying that she was sealed because she was insane. QED.

  • @LOZFFVII Unstable personality can mean a lot of things, it may mean insanity, but then there is different degrees of insanity, and as I said, Flandre's obviously no psycho.

Or maybe she was just a difficult child to raise, so they went the easy way. It all depends on the perception of the people who locked her up.

  • @Archimonde259 My whole point from the start was that she wasn't made unstable through being locked in a cellar.

It may have served to worsen her instability, however.

But there is something else I should point out - she doesn't seem to mind being locked in the basement, you'd of thought that if she truly was a tragic existence then she should surely be more afraid of the basement, right?

Ergo, she's not very 'tragic', is she?

  • @LOZFFVII This is exactly what makes her tragic. In a tragedy, the hero attempts to fight against fate, but fails because he is destined to. The whole tragedy of Flandre is that for all her power, she just can't fight against her destiny symbolized by Remilia and her fate-manipulating powers. Flandre has already failed and resigned herself to her failure, as she understands it is her destiny to live a life of solitude forever. Her tragedy has ended, and the curtain has fallen.

  • @Archimonde259 A couple of problems with that statement:

    1) it's just speculation, you have no definitive proof (i.e. word from ZUN himself) as to whether she has actually tried to break free.

    2) why would Remilia use something as complicated as fate to force her little sister into the basement? Remilia didn't even use her fate-controlling powers to defeat Reimu/Marisa when they faught against her.

    3) I doubt she has the mental facaulties to understand her destiny (mentally she's 10).

  • @LOZFFVII Oh but she still does! Remember EoSD: for the whole game, there was no trace of Flandre. Then, the heroine comes back to the mansion while Remilia is away - surprize!

And Shoot the Bullet? Aya just randomly RUNS into Flandre - pretty sure this was not inside the SDM at all!

So even now Flandre still tries to break free sometimes, when she thinks Fate might have relented - but is always puts her back in her place.

  • @Archimonde259 Shoot the Bullet is based on Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, which has Aya interviewing Flandre inside the SDM...

I could continue on, but I can see that no matter how hard I try to prove you wrong it won't work.

I will say, however, that your theory has certainly made me think about Flandre in a different light.

But I still prefer to think of her as a mad destroyer in a child's body who just wants to play.

  • @LOZFFVII See, that is exactly the kind of memes I am trying to prove wrong - exaggerated stuff with no foundation in canon whatsoever. Where canon says "unstable personality" fanon reads "psycho killing machine". Or Yuka: where canon says "loves to rub people the wrong way", fanon reads "sadist"! Or that fad about masochist Tenshi? Or "HELP ME EIRIN" fad - Kaguya is a STAGE SIX BOSS? See what I mean?

  • @LOZFFVII Then, it is not necessary that Remilia uses fate to force Flandre - but the symbol still stands, as she has that power. Besides, it WOULD explain why Flandre doesn't break out - because she is fated not to.

And she does not have to understand it - it's just the way her life goes. It's up to us to read between the lines.

  • @Archimonde259 Sorry, I never quite intended to prove your theory of her tragic existence wrong, it just turned out that way.

  • @Archimonde259 so the merciful thing would be to obliterate her entirely...AMERICA, FUCK YEAH

  • @Archimonde259 flandre is there on her own will if she wanted to leave she definatly could, but remila tells her to stay so flandre doesnt destroy everything, and flandre does this because she wants to listen to her big sister

  • @Archimonde259 it's a video game, fag

  • @HaibaneRakka571 It's called suspension of disbelief, troll.

  • @Archimonde259 get a life that doesn't involve sitting on youtube hitting F5 so you can say something to every person that makes a comment.

  • @HaibaneRakka571 Get a life that doesn't involve trolling.

  • @Archimonde259

...Wasn't the phrase "Insult to injury"?

  • @Takuthecheese Well, it's Gensokyo. There's a lot of fighting going on in here. Assault is appropriate.

  • @Archimonde259

flandre, she isn't exactly this at all. flandre is a cute, innocent. insane girl. her life may be filled with pain, but not due to her loving, protective sister, maid and the loving other residents of the scarlet devil mansion. she simply is just a completely instructive person, who's mind was warped from the beginning. She has great, beautiful power that neither she, nor her sister can handle, let alone the rest of gensokyo. she is happy there where she is.

  • @queenofhearts17 Wait a sec, i just remembered, if the world outside of Gensokyo is like it is present day, i wonder what would happen if Flandre got out, she might get a bunch of guns, fuse em together and show us what bullet hell REALLY is D:

*Imagines Flandre with a tank* x_x

  • @BlitZWTF oh good god.

  • @queenofhearts17

Nah, tbh it prolly wouldn't be as bad as i first anticipated, perhaps the speed of her projectiles go up to the modded Ultra mode?

  • @Archimonde259 Woah.

It is said she is locked up due to her tremendous power, being a threat, especially with her slightly childish mind.

  • @Archimonde259 looks like someone played the game.

    APPALAUSEEE *clapclapclapclap*

  • @kinomileaf Sarcasm?

  • @Archimonde259 However, Vampires only age about 0.015 times as normal, thus, she's only been locked up for about 7 year.

True, though. That story is tragic.

  • @Master77443322 Definitely not. She's 495 years old and she's spent a lot of that time locked up.

  • @Archimonde259 don't worry, she's free and happy in all the fan material

  • @Archimonde259 but she went in there willingly. She isn't there forever, she does come out ocasionally and her insanity is in waves... not always.

  • @Archimonde259 actually Flan isn't locked up, she willingly stays in the basement, because Rem asked her to :p

and that's fact, not some fanmade myth.

    I think... >.>

  • @Archimonde259 It's tragic, but she's only stayed in there because she knows of the power she has, she just can't control it. I've heard that Flandre stays in the basement voluntarily.

  • @Archimonde259

    assault to injury?

dont you mean insult to injury?

and her sister locked flan up for her own good, i believe.
