  • i had one of thos carbs on a 88 yj it was so worn out that it had a vacuum leak around the throttle shaft damdest thing i ever saw

  • never liked them darn carbs....

  • i saw me a good idear @ the end hows the plugs, wires, cap?

  • Well the weather seems to be working with you anyway, giving you time to sort things out properly before any serious ploughing needs doing.

  • I think that's a good idea...

  • almost like zx8401ztv said...but I hear tell, teapot air cleaner covers will greatly aid in the ventura-eastcost--radium-sealevel-ozone mixture and make it run even smoother.

  • @stovebolt50 Ah!

  • An Essex girl was driving her Vauxhall Corsa, and it broke down, the guy from Green Flag said 'Crap in the carburettor.' Essex girl said 'How often do I have to do that?'

  • I'll bet a jelly donut that you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Usually when a car runs good with the choke partly closed that is the problem. With all that you pulled off and what might have been pulled off before you might have a small orifice somewhere that is open, maybe even on the base of the carb? Check it out. I like jelly donuts!!

  • Those carbs were junk from the factory. Time for a Weber or a smallblock....;) LOL! Have a good night Richard

  • Well if you fit that other carburetta and it still runs rough then run away, lol

I know whats wrong, it hasnt got an air filter made from a coffee can :-)

  • @zx8401ztv I thought you was gonna tell me to torque my lug nuts.. hahaha

  • @rpeek Would i say that, im english you know lol, yes i would lol

  • See that lectric solenoid on the back of that carb that looks like one of those lectric carberators and those lectrick carbs have lectric that works the richness and leans on them I would throw that lectric carb away and put a simple one on it. My step grand pa used to say lectric instead of electric. he also used to say battry instead of battery. he was a good ol step grand pa though and could fix anything from junk parts.

  • @shartne I 'spect me and your grandpa would have got along just fine.. Yea, I've got a regular carb that's very similar and that's the plan, to rebuild it and poke it on here.
