Sorry, I am a casual gamer so I'm not sure i got it... is everyone orgasming because Ken blocked Chun li's kicks by using attacks? How can it be? Shouldn't it be a mutual hit instead? Can any expert gamer expain me?
@calogeroaiello Daigo (Ken) blocked Justin Wong's (Chun-Li) kicks with parrying, which negates damage. To parry in SF3, you need to press forward instead of the traditional holding backwards to normally block. You can't hold forward to parry, however: the timing of each parry has to precisely match the incoming attacks. To pull this off under the pressure of a sliver of remaining health, Chun-li's rapid kicks, and a tense tournament setting is nothing short of breathtaking.
@calogeroaiello Capcom has even gone to the effort of memorializing it in a Parry Trial for the recently released SF3: Third Strike Online Edition and used it again in similar fashion in a recent trailer for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3's "Heroes vs Heralds" DLC. While Capcom seems to be milking it more often nowadays, this moment is easily the most recognizable moment in fighting game/tournament history.
in the span of less than a minute i experienced the whole movie going experience: i was introduced to the characters, presented a problem, brought to root for the hero, and get an unbelievable finale

Can someone tell me what's so impressive? I was reading cracked and I dont play video games that much. Was the blonde guy impressive or the girl? Was it because it was hard to pull those moves? It happened so fast all I saw were a bunch of virgins screaming. Plz help me to understand
@elpibegustavo Apparently when this was posted years ago i read the comment you had to block each and every strike from Chun Li's kicks to completely parry that move. So the guy playing Ken had absolutely perfect timing.
@elpibegustavo lol basically what happened was Chun Li "the girl" used a combo which in any other game is either unblockable or completely blockable by holding a button. Except because SFTS is an incredible game the move is blockable but only with a complete parry which meant ken "the guy" had to excecute blocks at exactly the right time in order to block a combo that would have killed him and counter it into a winning combo
@lonebannana at 0:21 Justin "the girl" got Daigo "the guy" to the end of his life bar, which meant one more unblocked hit was enough to kill him.
Justin spent 0:21 to 0:26 punching/kicking the air to build up his special bar to use the girl's super.
At 0:26 Justin unleashed Chun Li's super which, unlike normal hits, will still do chip damage (tiny amounts of damage, but still enough to kill Daigo) even if blocked.
The only way to fully negate damage is to use the game's parry system.

Parrying requires you to exactly time the moment you're about to be hit and requires immense amounts of skill to pull off.
So basically, Justin had Daigo in a corner and used to most logical, 99% foolproof way of finishing Daigo off. Daigo responded with an amazing 15 consecutive parries, followed by his own combo, to his own super, which turned the battle completely around and won the match. It was utter madness. Ears were bleeding. Women got pregnant.
@AntiProtonBoy You see when he was basically reflecting that super attack? He had to time each of those parries PERFECTLY which is damn near impossible to do.
I'd shut up about cracked and enjoy the video more if youtube didn't have videos load so selectively. Why does it need to buffer on part that's already loaded?
@FoxtrotNinja Not only did he parry all the hits but he if he missed A SINGLE parry, he would have died of chip damage.(the slight damage you get when regular blocking attacks)Because when you parry you don't lose ANY damage like on a regular block.
Yeah, it's a parry sequence and it's indeed awesome, but i think that move forced you to play only in a deffensive way in that game, i prefer the Alpha saga

I'm just a occasional SF player, but don't you need a few secs to charge up your parries or was that tweaked from the previous editions?

The cool thing about this particular sequence is the timing.

n1g3ld34c0n 3 years ago
I am ashamed to say I have never honestly played a street fighter game more than maybe once or twice at an arcade, but I know how epic this is.
Letting any of those kicks hit him would have killed him, and he blocked them all, and came back all the way!
