@rapidtransformations One last question. Sorry. What happens if the person that is put under hypnosis is never told to wake up from the trance? Would they stay asleep forever, or would they wake up later as though they had just taken a nap?
@EsteVatoMexicano People will never be stuck in hypnosis. As the hypnotist, you do not have control over the person hypnotized. The person hypnotized is always aware of what is happening. If someone stays in hypnosis, it is only because they are enjoying the deeply relaxed state they are in. They will emerge when they wish.
I have a series of questions. Do you think it's a good idea for a teenager to try this on one of his friends? Does there have to be complete silence around for this to work? Are you the hypnotist in this video? What is it that the hypnotist does with her hand that makes her fall asleep? Could there be any mistakes done while doing this that could injure the person being hypnotized mentally, emotionally, or even physically? Done.
@EsteVatoMexicano Yes, he may want to do it with his friends sitting down. Its important to be able to catch the person being hypnotized if she/he falls down. No, there does not need to be complete silence. You can tell the person being hypnotized to "focus only on the sound of my voice. All other sounds just fade away into the background". Instant hypnosis iductions work do to creating a "shock" effect.
@EsteVatoMexicano A shock effect is created by having a person focus on doing one or more things and then quickly interupting these actions. The mind goes into shock( or scrambles for a direction to go in) and this leaves the subconscious mind open to suggestion. You can do this by having someone press down on your hand and keep applying pressure and then, when unexpected, removing your hand from underneath. This kives you about 3 seconds to suggest going into trance.
@EsteVatoMexicano No risck of mental or emotional damage. Hypnosis is a natural state which we all enter many times throughout the day. examples: learning, reading, watching movies, recalling memories, being creative, ect... There could be physical harm if the person being hypnotized assumes a hypnotic state will render him/her unable to use any muscle strength. The mind will duplicate what they have seen or imagine will happen. This could cause someone to fall badly. Be sure to do this sitting.
She did not give him total control of her body. She felt enough repport between her and the hypnotist to trust he ability to toally relax her body. Without trust, hypnosis will not work. It is always important to have great rapport.
@IronMarz52 Sorry about the delay in getting back to your question. Yes, this was her first hypnosis experience. She was actually very surprised at how well it worked. Its all about eliminating the fear someone might have about hypnosis.
Its not that it makes her more relaxed or go deeper into trance, but it is just much faster. After you have hypnotized someone and they know what that feels like, it just makes more sense to use an instant induction in later sessions, to save time. Some people might go into a deeper trance after an instant induction, but it depends on the person. People will respond differently to hypnosis in general.
My brother, i think is a little ADD, and doesnt like wordy inductions, i have hypnotized more than 20 people at school, but i cant hypnotize him. Why is this? what will be more effective?
My brother, i think is a little ADD, and doesnt like wordy inductions, i have hypnotized more than 20 people at school, but i cant hypnotize him. Why is this? what will be more effective?
Hi. If your brother does have a hard time focusing his attention, you may want to say to him, "At times your thoughts may wander away from my voice. This is OK. If you notice this, just simply bring your attention back to the sound of my voice. You know, it is your subconscious mind I am really speaking to and it hears everything. Just the sound of my voice causes you to relax deeper and deeper."
Could somebody please tell me what happens if I forget to keep talking to my subject after I have commanded him to sleep? Because I just tried to do this and I forgot to keep on talking to him and perhaps I might have achieved an instant induction if I had done it correctly. After I told my subject to sleep he closed his eyes and his eyelids began to tremble a bit. Thanks.
Most people will simply snap right out of hypnosis if you do not continue to deepen the state of hypnosis right after inducing hypnosis. So you do not simply want to talk. You want to give suggestions of deeper relaxation in the mind. Examples: Continue to allow yourself to relax deeper as you listen to the sound of my voice. Send a wave of deep relaxation down your body....starting at the top of your head and feeling relaxation wash down your entire body to the tips of your toes.
Thank you for your quick reply. Perhaps that what happened to my subject -either that or he didnt fell into snap at all!- because after I told him to sleep he closed his eyes and his eyelids began to tremble, but soon he opened them again and said something like "didn't work". My main doubt now is weather they recall having slept even a second or do they think they never did?
I'll inform you what happens when I try this again and this time follow your instructions.
It sounds to me that your friend did enter hypnosis. If you do not deepen hypnosis right after inducing hypnosis, people will open their eyes right away and say "It didn't work" only because they were not in hypnosis long enough to notice it worked. The eye fluttering is a good sign that he actually did enter hypnosis. Give it another try with the immediate deepening.
you are all noobs, you have to practice, know the right steps. Theres alot more going on than it looks like. It seems he used the "confusion" and "shock" technique
How do you de-hypnotize (its called like that, right?) someone, when you told him, for example 'You behave like a dog'. Just tell him 'When i count to three you are out of hypnosis, completely normal and you are not a dog anymore' or something else? Ive seen lots of people on youtube using inductions but not a lot 'exit' inductions.
The way I do it is say something like: "You know the suggestion you have about --suggestion topic here--? (get them to respond in some way ie. nod head/say yes) Tell them to picture a progress bar going from 0 to 100 when it gets to 100 the suggestion is completely gone, erased, from their mind. Give them suggestions that the progress bar is moving. Once at 100 say its completely gone. Then do whatever lol.
Notice, at the beginning, the suggestion that you can go into hypnosis and stand sturdy and strong is given. This allows the subject to know that he/she is expected to remain standing when hypnosis is induced. Always be aware of how the subject will actually respond because there is no guarantee that the the subject will remain standing.
It may appear that she is acting, but she is actually induced into a deep sate of hypnosis. The reason why it appears as though she is acting is because she is responding in a way that she expects herself to respond when entering hypnosis. You will find that people respond differently, based on what they have seen or expect of a person being hypnotized. If you were to watch a stage hypnosis show, it would look as if the people being hypnotized were acting also.
Hello Stu, This is not fake in any way. It does look a bit dramatic. I agree, but she only reacted in a way that she expected to react. It is much like when you see a stage hypnosis show and you see someone slide right of their chair when going into hypnosis, as the others stay in their chairs just fine. It is just that this one person expected in his mind to slide out of his chair when being hypnotized. We generally act in ways that are expected in our mind.
:) I did post the video to bring some traffic to my website, but I have been quite surprised with the number of questions that have been posted here. It has turned out to be a very nice way for visitors to receive some insight into hypnosis.
It can be harder, not to hypnotize so much as it is to get them to accept your suggestions for change. This is only becasue after so many years, a person becomes set in their ways, or you could say that a person has had many of the same experiences which verfiy their beliefs about themselves and the world around them. Teenagers are great to work with because they have yet to create firm beliefs about who they are.
I Finally got my friend out and I tried it on his sister and it worked I set a key word so that they could enter hypnosis more easyily and quickly. But the next time i tried it on a diffrent person it wouldnt work. I did arm pull, Butterfly fingers, Push down, Handshake. none of them worked on him so how can i get it to work?
Honestly, you are doing great. You were able to hypnotize his sister, so you know what you are doing is right. The other person you attempted to hypnotize was resisting for one reason or another. Just keep going at it. You learn to read people and understand what is causing them to resist entering hypnosis. You are doing a great job!!!!
should this induction work on everyone? cause i have used it on like 8 people and only gotten 2 people out are they just resisting? Another question how do you tell how people can be hypnotized?
Yes, when people agree to be hypnotized and then do not go into hypnosis, they are resisting. If you are new to hypnosis and are attempting to hypnotize friends and family that know you are new to hypnosis, they will most likely have a fear of something going wrong(which is a misconception also). You may want to try to find people that know little about you or other hypnotists to practice on. Also remember that your confidence will also effect your results. Be confident.
As long as a person is willing to enter hypnosis without fear and agree to follow your instructions, they can be hypnotized successfully. Look up suggestability testing. There isn't enough space here for me to go into this, but this teesting will help you see whether or not someone is really willing to go into hypnosis. Stage hypnotists use this testing to pick participants from the crowd to ensure that everyone on stage will go into hypnosis.
I beleive that you always want them to know that you intend to induce hypnosis. Also give them an idea of how you expect them to respond..."relax your body as though you were going to sleep...close your eyes...allow your mind to clear". If you do an instant induction with the subject standing up, be sure to tell the subject that they will relax deeply but they will still have the strength to support themselves in a standing position. Tell them this before you begin the induction.
Now you do not need to pull down hard. The shock comes from the unexpected movement of the arm. You can move the arm gently down. Here is another option. Put your hand out towards the subject with your hand facing palm up. Have the subject press down on your hand as you resist their pressing down. Be sure that they continue to press down hard. When you are ready and their focus on pressing down while looking into your eyes, simply slide your hand out quickly while giving the suggestion "Sleep".
I have done that one before it didnt work. I ask them if they have any fears of being hypnotized and they say no i tell them that i wont make them do anything bad and it still doent work i have got people under before just not with the instant inductions so what now?
As soon as you create the shock effect(letting their hand drop) and giving the suggestion "Sleep", you must immediately begin deepening the hypnotic state. Do not hesitate. Right after you say "sleep" begin deepening by saying things like "continue to go deeper relaxed. With each and every breath you exhale, allow your body and your mind to continue to go deeper relaxed. And allow the sound of my voice to carry you deeper relaxed as we continue to go deeper into hypnosis" continue
All right dont you have to say it like your demanding that they do it? Another thing am i missing something? I ask them if they want to be hypnoized. then ask them if they are afraid to be hypnotized and tell them stuff like they cant get stuck in a trance. Then ask them if they trust me. Am i missing something?
If they open their eyes right away, ask them what it is that they might be afraid of. When a person will not be hypnotized, the only reason is based on some kind of a fear they have about going into hypnosis. Sometimes the best way to remove the fear is to ask them what the fear is. Also, really focus on the deepening. Jump right into the deepening process so they do not have time to open their eyes.
I tryed the pressing down thing yesterday it didnt work. I didnt have them look in my eyes though I will try that next time. What Induction do you think would work best for a person that has never been hypnotized before?
The best induction for a person being hypnotized for the firt time would be some form of a rapid induction. This is a gentle, yet quick enough, induction so the subject will feel comfortable with going into hypnosis. I would never use an instant induction with s subject for their first time. You could probably do a search for "Dave Elman Rapid Induction" and find a script for this induction. If you use a rapid induction first, you will find that the instant induction works much more smoothly.
Most likely they are not going into hypnosis because 1. They are afraid to go into hypnosis, thinking they will black out and do things they have no control of(which are misconceptions) or 2. They just simply do not want to. It is important to remove all fears of hypnosis first because you cannot hypnotize someone who is unwilling to be hypnotized.
Its not about throwing balance off, but about creating a state of shock. Not traumatic shock, but a state where the mind says, "Hey what is happening?" This causes the subconscious mind to open entirely so that it may search for an answer. When this happens the hypnotist has a few seconds to give a suggestion. That suggestion being "Sleep!". It is important to explain, before the induction, that you only mean for the subject to relax deeply when you say sleep.
i just learnt to do hypnosis today and i found it really to hypnotise my mum

You could probably do a search for "Dave Elman Rapid Induction" and find a script for this induction. If you use a rapid induction first, you will find that the instant induction works much more smoothly.

Most likely they are not going into hypnosis because 1. They are afraid to go into hypnosis, thinking they will black out and do things they have no control of(which are misconceptions) or 2. They just simply do not want to. It is important to remove all fears of hypnosis first because you cannot hypnotize someone who is unwilling to be hypnotized.

Did you relax her before that?

No. This is an instant induction. There was some time taken to explain what hypnosis is to remove any fears and misconceptions.

So do you just distract them then throw there balance off?
SASRosco03 3 years ago
Its not about throwing balance off, but about creating a state of shock. Not traumatic shock, but a state where the mind says, "Hey what is happening?" This causes the subconscious mind to open entirely so that it may search for an answer. When this happens the hypnotist has a few seconds to give a suggestion. That suggestion being "Sleep!". It is important to explain, before the induction, that you only mean for the subject to relax deeply when you say sleep.

Just a note, hypnosis has nothing to do with relaxation (noted your definition in your pretalk alluded otherwise) :)

Very graceful shock induction, no physical discomforts! Unlike the arm pull.
