  • Thank you! i need to make a baby blanket thats "lacy yet masculine" so this is perfect. i tried just written instructions and got confused. your video fixed that.

  • i'm going to make a baby blanket

  • ..I mad a scarf for myself, and now I am working on one for my husband

    very simple and easy

  • I would like to know if you would use this same pattern to make a V-stitch throw. If so, how many chain to start off with (maybe 150-175???). Thanks!

  • @stephanie060905 Make your chain the length you want your throw to be wide, making sure you have a multiple of 13. add 3 more chains for the turning chain. The number depends on your agauge, the weight of the yarn and the size of your hook.

  • Hello, Just wanted to tell you I love your videos. I havent made anything for years and you got me started again. I love this V stich. My daughter has never done it and now she is teaching herself with your videos. As for what I am going to make......not sure. I want to make a baby blanket for the new baby my nephew and his wife are having in May. Thank You again.

  • I finished a scarf, now working on a shawl....love this stitch...thanks for sharing.

  • crocodiel stitch

  • @steen405 ?? are you asking for a video on the crocodile stitch? There are other teachers who have videos on this stitch. I personally will never use it, so I will not likely ever do a video on it.

  • I made a scarf...very easy stitch...

  • Yep, like a lot of the others, I found your video really easy to follow, and the instructions were clear. I am teaching myself to crochet via the internet and as a total beginner, I thought yours was one of the easiest to understand instructional videos. You actually taught me some stuff that no other video has so far!

  • Very good and you really explain it clearly I am trying to start from zero

  • Thank you sooo much for this video!! I have been crochetting for a while now, but i just go with the basic stitches and then my mom recently learned the shell stitch (which she is using for her first grandbaby blanket) and i already made my baby blanket, but i thought since it was soo plain i wanted to do something else, and this is perfect!! thank you soooo much!!!!!

  • thank you!! I am learning how to crochet by internet......no one to teach me. your video was the best and i learned!!

  • why do some patterns call for extra stitches at the end of the chain?like 13 + 3 what are they for and how do you know you need to do this for certain patterns? it's like a mystery.I'd like to understand

  • @debbie8188 In this case the +3 is the turning chain. I forms the first double crochet. Sometimes it counts as spaces and stitches. It depends on the pattern. Here is what it Usually stands for (but not always) +1= sc, +2=hdc or sc & ch 1, +3= dc or hdc & chain 1 or sc & ch 2.

  • @bethintx1..sorry for they misspelled

  • @Beththin@ bethintx1..Ima try an make a scarf I love this pattern...I'm just learning how to crochet...I made my first scarf am it came out pretty good ...I kno how to double ,half second and single crochet ...this video man's tjis pattern look easy

  • this is by far the most helpful video ive seen, i just want to say u did a great job, im pretty excited to get started!! thank you so much!!

  • Awesome,

    Thanks :D

  • Im going to make my newborn baby a blanket..thank you great instructional vid

  • I think I might try to make a rectangular shawl with a thin yarn? Do you think the v stitch will work?

  • @lytanner1 It will be beautiful!

  • @Bethintx1 your video on the V stitch was the best because you actually started from the begginning. I am going to try and make a blanket with this stitch for my niece. This stitch was easier than I thought. Thank you for doing this video.

  • Can't wait to get started on my scarf! Thanks for the lesson. This is the second v stitch video I've watched on here and it's all coming together now.

  • I love the v stich and i also love your tutorial! You are a grear teacher, thank youfor sharing!

  • i'm going to make a baby blanket

  • I'd like to make a nice scarf :)

  • @friendz906 You can. make your starting chin the width of the scarf.

  • @Bethintx1 that should say chain, not chin! LOL!

  • I've been trying to make an afghan. I wish I could hug you right now. I GET IT! ITS WORKING!!

  • Thank you so much for such clear instruction on this stitch. I'm making twin size blankets for my niece and nephews for Xmas.

  • You are such a great teacher! Thank you!

I plan to use the V stitch to make a blanket. But I'll practice the technique on a roomy cowl first using 2/3 strands of worsted weight ;)

  • I'm making a twin blanket with bernat baby blanket yarn, the big stuff!!!!!!!

  • OMG I could kiss you! I've been trying to do this stitch from a book but it was too hard. You made it look easy and I can do it now! thank you so much! x

  • I'm makin a baby blanket

  • Thank you very much. I like many videos, and explains each technique with greater clarity and well detailed throughout. I hope you understand my English.

  • Again my thanks Beth for your clear & easy to follow videos. Completed my 1st rectangular shawl using the V-stitch. Finished size 18" X 65" perfect fit for my elderly mom & she liked it.

  • Thank you, so helpfut to see it!

  • Thank you for this lovely clear instruction. I've been using a bamboo yarn and have not been able to find any knitted or crochet patterns that I think would look right. I think this one will be perfect. I love the feel of the bamboo yarn but working with it is driving me around the bend!

  • I am making a baby blanket using a free pattern from lionsbrand.

  • This was very handy...I have a pattern for a tree skirt for my Christmas tree and it has some v stitches in it. The pattern explains how to do it, but I needed a visual. Thanks!

  • Thank you for the video. This is a new stitch for me. I will be using it with alternating shell stitches to make a baby sweater.

  • I love this stitch but would like to see it in multiple colors, I want to make a baby blanket

  • @sohogirl08 Have you done a Google search? Try typing "crochet v stitch" and "Images." Or you can work up a small swatch while changing colors to see if you like it.

Another option is to use multi-colored yarn.

  • i found a nice wrap on Lion's site

  • I like this stitch! Do you have a turorial for a nice triangular shawl with the V stitch? Thanks!!

  • @buffalogal46 no. sorry.

  • @Bethintx1 Thank you!! Wasn't for sure if it was possible to create a triangular shawl, with the V stich, or not!

  • @buffalogal46 It is possible, but I am not doing the video. You may be able to find a pattern on Ravelry. Rectangular shawls are easily done in this pattern.

  • I too am a beginner and am thinking about trying a scarf with this stitch. I think I might just be able to get it done. I'm a truck drivers wife and ride with my hubby. Ic

  • Thank u so much I will make it as a pouncho and post it later.

  • thanks for the instructions. I made a 4"X60" scarf using your v-stitch video tips and gave it as gift to my sister. I just began making a shawl using multiples of 13 st. +3. The shawl will measure 24" X 66" and will be along the line of a prayer shawl for my elderly mom. The most difficult is starting the chain stitches ex. for the shawl, I made 81 chain stitches to get a shawl width of 24 in.-chain stitches have tendency to curl or turn sideways, so you have to be alert to this.

  • I wanna make head bands for my niece. My sister loves putting them on her. I hope you have a video for that. I think the v stitch would be great for a babies head band.

  • My mother died a month ago. She was very talented at this. We all have things she made us. I never had the patience growing up to learn from her. I realized that the skill died with her. Thank you very much for posting your granny square and this one as well. I have learned what I never could from her from them (now that I am older). I plan to take up the craft in honor of her. Hope she will be proud. =)

  • I am making a scarf with this pattern. I am using self striping yarn and it looks so pretty!! thanks so much for the time and effort you put into these vids.

  • I've been crocheting for years but never came across this stitch until I found a gorgeous throw in pink & white with pink butterflies on every other square. I liked the throw so much that I had to find out how to do the stitch and it appears to make a nice thick throw. Thanks for the easy to follow video!!

  • beth, this v-stitch is a new stitch for me; I'm a novice crocheter but began a scarf following your instructions for this v-stitch and it actually is going pretty fast

  • Thanks in less than 8 minutes u showed me a stitch I have been trying to figure out from a written pattern for months

  • thanks Beth for this video; I've been following you on youtube and have learned from all of your basic vids how to sc, hdc, dc, trc and completed 2 scarves. I think the v-stitch is pretty cool and will try my hook on this new stitch and try to create another scarf; also liked your tutorial on crocheting hats. from Texas a big Thanks

  • Very nice and quite explanatory enough thank u very much.

  • you are fantastic at describing things, i'm new to it and it's great to have something other to do than the basics :)

  • thank you! I was having trouble reading this pattern, it helped to visualize it!

  • Thanks for the video, it was very helpful for a beginner. I was wondering what is the best way to add a stitch if you come short at the end of a row. Should I just add an extra chain stitch?

  • @reddawnify That depends on the stitch pattern. I have a tutorial on the chainless foundation stitches. when you get to the end of your first row, and you are short by only a few chain stitches, you can add them by using the chainless foundation method. Search my channel for single crochet chain, double crochet chain, etc.

  • I am making a holiday throw only I am using 2 strands of yarn. Hope I can get it right.

  • You explain so well! Plus where you keep your camera for filming is ideal! Makes it easy to see whats going on! Thanks from a beginning crocheter.

  • I like this stitch for bulky textured yarns too. You can find the place to put your hook really easily.

  • I think I'm going to try it with various yarns and hooks, I'm thinking it might make a light throw for the couch.

Thanks for the video's, they are great! I enjoy them a lot!

  • Beth, what do you usually make with the V stitche? I've never used it and would like some ideas. Thanks.

  • @BeckyInCa All sorts of things... my favorites are scarves and afghans.

  • Thanks for the video. Can I make a hat using the V stich? If so, how to increase and decrease? I am not sure how to make the hat with the V stich. Thanks.

  • @mom2good absolutely! TJW1963 has a video. Do a you tube search for v stitch summer hat.

  • i wish she would have went a little slower

  • @TheKandiBoo Thats the beauty of video, you can click the pause as you work along with her. If you've ever tried to film yourself demonstrating something, you probably would just be happy that she posted this instead of wishing she would have went slower. Plus, remember she only has 10 min's. Maybe once your up to speed on crocheting watching this at normal speed isn't so mid boggling.

  • This will be my next project as I've never done a v stitch. Probably will do a hat and a scarf with the loopy fringe you recently taught. I LOVE simply soft to work with but have yet to make anything for me with it so this can be my Christmas present from me to me thanks for your great tutorials!!

  • Thank You for the video. Very helpful. What brand of hooks do you use? TY

  • @l3lissful This is a Susan Bates.
