  • Where is you internship??

  • TSD

  • I didn't know that your birthday is in July. Mine birthday is on July too. What day? Mines on July 31

  • mines on july 4th. :)

  • Awesome! you must be a speical lady to have a birthday on 4th of July - Independence Day

  • Mine is too! :P I love your videos, I'm taking asl right now and my asl teacher loves you. Your signing is really good, I'm going to send your url to my deaf sister so maybe my deaf niece can enjoy your videos as well. :)

  • hi its kirsten coahran from TSD i was in friday night live.. i dont know if u remember me, but i heard that u will start working here. i cant wait its my last year now in high school. i was so happy to have met u, i love the way u translate the songs in to asl!

  • thanks so much kirsten!!

  • Hi Ally. Have been watching for your a couple of yrs now & you are awesome! While I can figure out & interpret most songs, I'm having trouble w/ "drops of jupiter" by Train. A very special person in my life just learned the song and plays it on guitar and sings it & I would love to interpret it for him.. but it's a hard song to interpret. Is there anyway you can please help me out and do this song next? I can't tell you how much it would mean to me! Thanks so much! Happy New Year!

  • i would LOVe to!! however, im unable to take requests at a reasonable time right now. :(

i'm way too busy and find that i cant commit to signing certain songs by certain times :(

  • heyy i like your vids

can u please do me a big favor and make a video 0f "Running up that hill by Placebo" in Asl

  • To those wondering what she's saying, she's first talking about Captainvalor's videos, directing you to go watch, she likes them and thinks you'll enjoy them as well. Then she's apologizing for not being active, explaining that she'd been sick and busy, and promises to have new videos up soon. Then she exclaims about her new computer? (I use a different sign for computer, so this sign is either computer or camera) that she got for her birthday and says the video quality is much better.

  • thanks for interpreting ! :)

  • Not a problem. My ASL is rusty, since I usually use SEE, so it's been good practice for me to watch these videos.

  • thanks for translating Catwalksymphony, I know

calineGrow2Go said that too, but it doesnt mean I dont want to say so myself.

  • You're welcome!

  • Please make more videos! I've watched all the old ones. Captain Valor is Great too, I especially love his interpretation of The Lighthouse's Tale by Nickel Creek. Good luck with everything :)

  • Yea i knw i saw a lot of his videos and their amazing hes truly skilld! very good signing understood it all. ( :

  • Even though I can't understand most of what you sign (I'm only just finishing up my first semester of sign) I just love watching you sign. All of your videos are fantastic!

  • Can you please post Pretty Woman song....

  • Thank you for your videos

  • It's beautiful

Please ally I like a song Pretty Woman

  • also remember to add his new site for letting people know about him..... his Michael DiMartino site has more stuff and is where he is placing his new videos..... I am a subscriber to both of you and I love what you guys do. I have introduced these to my deaf brother who I am hoping will enjoy them as much as I do.

  • Wow, I didn't understand a lot of that (I'm new to asl), but the comments helped ^^ Glad you're feeling better! But what's the sign at 2:03 and 2:04 where you're kind of twisting your hands in the air? Thanks :)

Also, if you're looking for a new song to sign (though you have about 2,000 ideas on comments ^^) I think that Boats and Birds by Gregory & the Hawk would be beautiful in asl. Can't wait for a new video!

  • Of course, I didn't understand a 'word' of what you were signing...LOL

Nevertheless, it is great to see you back in action. What you do continues to mean so much to so many. Wishing you good holidays, and continued good luck always.

    Steve

  • YAY! You are making a new vid soon. You sign really fast.

    Are you deaf?

    I am.

  • Great to see you back. I'm also glad you are feeling better.

Looking forward to the next video. It sounds like the quality will be awesome with your new equipment.

  • Thanks for the update. And thanks for everyone's comments so I'd know all that you were saying. You are so fast - I had to watch it like 3 times and then pieced together what you said (reallllly need to brush up on my sign language-thanks for the free lessons haha). I too, thought you were engaged - the ring looked new. :-)Glad you are feeling better.

  • Would you sign "Knock on Wood" by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones? It's such a fun song!

  • It's called "The Impression that I Get" for future reference. :)

  • will you sign the song "Make You Feel My Love" by Adele?

  • I LOVE HIS VIDEOS! My favorite is Party in the USA. I was actually looking up one of your videos to show a friend when I stumbled onto his.

  • I'm sorry, I meant the sign at 1:49/1:50. Where she's opening her fists enthusiastically. I have seen you use it a lot but never by anyone else. Thanks!

  • @kirsti44 It's one of the many ways to sign the word "sign" :)

  • hi freinds

how are you doing i nice you good asl wonderful tell me

emerald said tryout asl song pls now sure yes emerald join sure yes fine

  • Would you please sign the song "Need you Now' by Lady Antabellum?! It would be beautiful...

  • I totally understand that you have been MIA and being sick (Im sorry)and now doing internship. I hope that you are feeling better :) I checked out Captain Valor,oh hes so Good with ASL!

  • hate to sound like some kind of nutter but did you flip the video? as now it seems your left handed rather than right, im guessing so as your logo on your shirt is also inverted, thought something seemed different lol

  • I think it's just the new camera.

  • its computer actually. if you watch closely, you can see she is fingerspelling "M-A-C" right beforehand. She has a new macbook from the looks of it :)

  • yessss i dooooo! :)

  • the first video that I liked of captain valors was the Party in the USA, not because I like the song, but because he incorporated the song AND gloss into captions. That is great! It makes it easier for teachers who want to teach their ASL class a song, but we struggle with the gloss. Just an FYI.

  • I'm sorry you were so ill. Surgery is not fun bioy do I know it. it's great to hear more positive things are happening to. The student teaching sounds wonderful. What a creat oppurtunity, and I bet you are learning a lot from being around the students. I'm looking forward to your new videos; when you get ttime that is. Don't feel rushed b/c o your audience. everyone appreciates your personal space and time.

    Stay healthy.

  • Sorry you have been sick and had a surgery.... Glad to see you are back. I am interning in a DHH HS class. The kids are great. It is a small class and kids from all different countries so sometimes they dont understand the ASL signs. Anyway, glad to see you are back and good luck with your internship.

  • What is the sign that you're doing at 1:47 ?

  • promise

  • Thank you! I was just about to ask the same thing because shes used it several times!

  • I just started my ASL program and my University and watching your videos really helps me practice and interpret. I think that we use a little different signs here in Nebraska, but your sign so well! Thank yoU!

  • Yeah, I just started ASL 1 at my local college and these videos are awesome. And I have noticed that some of the signs I know (in Colorado) are different as well.

  • I'm sorry to hear that you've been sick! I misinterpreted at first and thought you were talking about your boyfriend! I'm glad that you're feeling much better now!

That's exciting you have an internship with student teaching! I hope your busy schedule isn't too hectic, but I'm glad you're enjoying where you're at. Video chats are very nice, my deaf friends enjoy them a lot. But I myself have not had the pleasure of using one yet.

I look forward to your new video! Can't wait! :)

  • Have you seen CapainLover? I love his videos. I would highly recommend you seeing it if you haven't seen it.

  • i have seen all of captainlover's videos.

they are definitely good. he is a great interpreter.

i think it's a little too difficult to understand (if you are a Deaf person) but they are good.

  • well congrats! i was actually just in austin for a few days, passed TSD a few times. Went there with a few Deaf friends, ran into a bunch of Deaf people there. It's a nice town.

    Hope you're feeling better.

And his videos are alright... but he needs to work on conceptual accuracy. Honestly... his signing is very hard to understand.

  • hello i mis u thanks ur are feeling better now i hope u will post a video again tnx

  • you forgot to put on the music.

  • what music?? she wasn't signing a song. She was just talking

  • Welcome back and glad you're feeling better =)

  • sorry to hear youve been sick but im glad to know your feeling better congrats on graduating! you videos have really helped me learn to sign/sing u know... my gf thanks you !! she says your the best hearing interpreter when it comes to songs....

  • Glad you're feeling better and back in action Ally. Being in the hospital sucks. btw, for a minute there I thought you were signing lefty, lol. Looking foward to the new video.

  • Ally,

My name is Kat. I'm a graduate student at Gallaudet, orignally from Sugar Land, and in the Spring of 2010 I'm going to do my interniship in Austin. My degree is Mental Health Counseling (speicality ind eaf clientsobviously). If you have fb lets try to connect?

  • You graduated from Gallaudet?!?! That's awesome! I'm only 15 but I really love languages, especially ASL, and I'm thinking of going to Gallaudet and majoring in interperting.

  • no!! i never went to Gallaudet! i didn't even graduate! lol.

    i'm just doing an internship!

Gallaudet has a VERY SMALL program for Hearing people. Only like 5 Hearing people can go to get a degree from there. They are very strict.

  • The Hearing Undergraduate (HUG) program is capped at 5% of an incoming class, I believe. Interpreting majors are not counted as HUGs, though. There are also some visiting students (like study abroad students, though they don't leave the country) that come here for a semester or so. But yeah... the vast majority are Deaf.

The graduate school is about 50/50, hearing/deaf.

(I work for the Gally graduate admissions office, heh)

  • my sign teacher graduated from gallaudet (she's hearing) and our deaf club is trying to plan a trip there in april, if not then we're going to go to RIT in new york. anyways, you're videos are amazing ally!

  • wow i definitely meant 5% hahhahahaa.

only 5 people in the worlddddd!! hahahahaa.

    my bad.

  • Sorry, did you say you didn't have surgery, but you had an incision in your abdomen? I need to brush up on my ASL. LOL but I'm very sorry you've been sick.

  • Wow, Ally, I'm sorry to hear you've been ill... I'm glad to know you are doing better! Congratulations on graduating, moving, and finding yourself a job! If you ever decide you want to teach ASL in the Houston area, I'm your gal! :)

    Thanks for updating us! :)

  • not graduated yet! :)

    i'm interning! :)

    thanks though!

  • i mis you

  • Btw, even my CODA friends like your video's and some of them are real nitpicks, lol

  • i don't usually comment on video's but i do like your song interpretations, and i sure hope you feel better now. 2 times in hospital can be a real downer. FEEL better, there are alot of people happy to see you up and well. Take care of yourself now

  • Aww! You're in Austin, now?! That's where I live! Hope you enjoy it!

  • i love it here!!!!!

  • Do you think you could be aware of the lighting in the room before you start a video? It was a bit dark & hard for me to see you clearly.

  • sorry :(((

  • cant wait for the captions...

i wanna know what your saying.

  • Awesome update! I actually just logged on because someone sent me a link to CV's video and then I saw that you updated and I was so excited! I love watching you sign! I hope you are feeling better now after your hospital stay and surgery! I actually spent 2 weeks in the hospital also this summer also! Keep up the good work and good luck with your new mac and your interpreting program!

  • what did you say????

  • watch her lips closely, and you can catch a lot of what she says even if you don't understand all the signs

  • I think it would be great if you signed Stolen off of the twilight soundtrack.(:

All your videos are great, and i know you'd be great at it.

  • it's amazing how different asl is to german sign language. i understood about nothing except the few sings that are equal. but it's nice to see that you're not gone^^

  • I wish I knew what you were saying! 143.

  • Yay!! UPDATE!! i been wondering where you are!!

Its soo good to hear that you have a job, and are loving it. SOO many people can't find jobs these days!! Sorry you were sick. you had surgery? wow. glad your back...can't wait for more videos!!

what are you teaching at the school? and also...in college what was it that you did? I am thinking about going to OSU to become an interpreter....

  • yeah. my internship is taking up sooo much time.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah! Your back! Have missed your videos like crazy!

  • thanks! :)

  • Hi, sorry to see that you've been sick. What is the sign that you do at 0:04 where you touch the middle finger to your cheek right after you say " Hi I want to say...?"

  • i'm prolly signing SEE. as in "Have you SEEN CaptainValor's videos"

  • `The `k` hand under the eye means `see`. It looks like she said `I want to say, I saw CaptainValor`s videos`....

  • wow, ur soo fast! im still learning sign language, so i understood like half of what u said.

keep it up though, u should put what ur saying under so i can read along, i love learning new signs :D

    xoxo

  • i will soon enough!
