I just ordered a DD M4v3 this morning... took me 2 freaking months to track down. These next few weeks of waiting are going to kill me!
Daniel Defense is about the best out of box direct impingement AR on the market, and at a far price point... their cold hammer forged 1/7" twist barrels are top notch.
As for people hating on the "old" design of the AR... there are far older weapons still in use. And trust me, the AR get the job done, but what do I know.. I have only deployed three times...
Nothing new here......come on Marty....and DD engineering.. The AR 15 design has been around for 50 years..
Why don't you actually Design a weapon and make something new and innovative with all the new equipment and resources you have invested in....not follow along with all the many AR15 assemblers out already on the market with an overly copied design?
@2390mac Compared to what? Unbeatable ergos, accurate, built in recoil/muzzle rise reduction? Or would you rather go for a piston design? A system much older than DI...
@jebustheone I find the charging handle on an AR-15 /M-16 style weapon to be absolutely awful. Ergos are great otherwise. While a piston design may be older, some of the newer variants are shaking it up a little. But DI ARs are a dime a dozen.
I'm really glad they're making the DDXV with a mid-length gas system. I finally just scrapped my plans to build an AR when I found out the DDXV could be had for around 1,000 bucks (about the same price as my build was going to come to), but I really didn't want the carbine gas system.
Hopefully they have those DDXV mid-length carbines available soon, they're not currently listed on the Daniel Defense website.
Actually, I like the new Troy Industries TRX Battle rail, and it does not any sharp edges. My negative comment on the new DD rail was because it looks ugly, not because it doesn't have sharp edges. Thanks for the response.

They do make a drop-in railed hand guard for the middy. It's called the Omega 9. Free floating rail. No modification required.
