Well I agree that Hammond and tube guitar amp is the greatest setup for electric explorations in rock and above! Great playing! I wish I immediately become an experienced organ player!
I can't say I agree. For me this had nothing interesting to offer. The solo playing just felt like a random combination of blues runs, chords and single note drills. I can't say I found to much music in it.
Ignore those critics! This is *good* and could easily pass as something by Niacin! (if you haven't heard of them, look them up - they've had a string of good records)
I like it...Because I wanna learn the funky technique, too. I'm looking for some scales or runs to use in a funk solo...I think you could help me a little bit.
On the other hand, I think that the sound of this is a little too heavy for the funky style...
I should like this but i dont. Kinda stifled and a bit too white. U have two things about u. U either play sweepy chords or solo too fast without any tasteful notes. Also u play it like a piano when u sham (or not as the case may be). Wheres the sweeps or leslie dynamics?
"U either play sweepy chords or solo too fast without any tasteful notes" - he simply does not copy Jimmy Smith or his clones.
Wheres the sweeps or leslie dynamics? - yes, it is the easiest way to on hammond for black gospel cocksuckers. Hit a C chord, random note on pedal and drawbars all the way out. Just to make a lot of noise, not technically perfect music...
Dude, that rocked! You weren't just fast, but your time was great, too. I'm reviewing the new version, the XK-3C, for Keyboard magazine in the U.S. right now!
Hey how do you do the quick succession of notes with your right hand, right before you start playing the songs and at :50? Are you using your middle and pointer fingers, or those two and your thumb as well? Thanks, it's a cool sound
Great. I still playing on an old Korg CX-3... But actual "B3 clones" are far better. I think I will buy a XK3 or a XK1. Do you know if the differences between the XK3 and XK1 justify the difference of price ?
thanks, yes, I recorded it on my xk-3 with marshall jmp (head...-similar to jcm800)and 4x12"speakers-also by marshall. Setup-full overdrive from xk-3, drawbars-888000000 or somthing like that, chorus C-3 and percussion third/fast/soft...thats all
Thanks for your quick reply! I am a guitarist, but I want to get into keys now. I am looking at the Clavia C1. Do you know it? Does it appeal to you? I am after that overdriven Jon Lord stuff, and maybe I won't be happy with the built-in OD - I shall probably have to get the overdrive from an amp too. That's why I asked.
Firstly in 70's Jon Douglas Lord played on C-3 and Marshall JCM800- overdrive from c3 amp and guitar amp. without leslie spekaer. After 1974 he playd with Leslie 147- volume and expression pedal pressed down to the ground! Jon used also fuzz, ring modulator...
I didn't play clavia, but its good for bands(include more sounds, like piano, rhodes and more)
Hej, to jest naprawdę niekiepskie! Przypomina mi trochę wczesny Niacin. Jakbyś szukał kiedyś gitarzysty na swoją solową płytę, to znam jednego, który by się nadał ;). Pozdro!
What does a keyboard like that cost? Retail!!

no, it doesn't have. Unless you would be connecting it via Midi, you can give the Hammond MIDI instruments of your choice. (XK-3 is MIDI-ready.)
