Sorry that Hunter Hunt-Hendrix has some intellectual views about black metal, this album was both face tearing and beautiful at the same time and the best metal released this year

I think what people seem to forget is the fact that this guy pretty much shit on all of his black metal influences and acted like he was above them all.
Who cares how the band members dress? The singer is a huge, annoying, pretentious cunt, though. Annoying, stupid bandmembers shouldn't keep one from listening to a band, though, otherwise I wouldn't be listening to Deathspell Omega (and those guys are the most pretentious bunch of knobgobblers ever).
That being said, I don't like Aesthethica. Renihilation had a rather unique atmosphere and energy, but this... I don't know. It just lacks that special ecstatic feel and just feels forced.
I don't care what all of you think. This is a good album. I may not agree with everything that they stand for but I do agree with some and I think this album is great. It's all about the music man!!!

well heres an actual reason. musicians like me study metal, and honestly, this sounds a lot more like Mastodon than any 'black metal' I've ever heard, however it's the first song by them I've heard.
I don't find this boring. I think they took an interesting turn. Personally, the black metal fan in me likes Renihilation better, but this is still some heavy shit.

I've been to Krallice and WITTR shows lately. Krallice had the most traditional metalheads in the audience. WITTR had a lot of hipsters and they attract a lot of punks too but they had a fair numbers of metalheads in the audience. I was at a Liturgy show recently and it was indie fag central lol but I still liked the music! Basically : don't like their image and crowd but i really can't complain about the music. I enjoy most of it quite a lot.

Who cares how the band members dress? The singer is a huge, annoying, pretentious cunt, though. Annoying, stupid bandmembers shouldn't keep one from listening to a band, though, otherwise I wouldn't be listening to Deathspell Omega (and those guys are the most pretentious bunch of knobgobblers ever).
That being said, I don't like Aesthethica. Renihilation had a rather unique atmosphere and energy, but this... I don't know. It just lacks that special ecstatic feel and just feels forced.

To all of you bashing on everyone criticizing this band, keep your tits on. It's a legitimate criticism; this band isn't very traditional, or very similar at ALL to black metal. Their affiliation with the hipster scene doesn't help. inb4 "UGH LABELS R SO CLICHE." It's a real stereotype. If you go to a WITTR show & there are five guys in leather jackets and 100 guys with fixie bikes & skinny jeans who do you think is true, i.e. lives & breathes BM, & who do you think is following trends in counterculture/likes WITTR "ironically"? --It's a parasitic infestation, & that's why people detest Liturgy. (That said, I think Renihilation was a solid debut album.)

I've been to Krallice and WITTR shows lately. Krallice had the most traditional metalheads in the audience. WITTR had a lot of hipsters and they attract a lot of punks too but they had a fair numbers of metalheads in the audience. I was at a Liturgy show recently and it was indie fag central lol but I still liked the music! Basically : don't like their image and crowd but i really can't complain about the music. I enjoy most of it quite a lot.
