You have to remember that "The Flintstones" was a show that primarily targeted towards adults back then. It would be like what "American Dad!" is today. It wasn't a kid’s show back then.

In the Flinstones cartoon, the women were potrayed as being very smart and sensible, while the men were two morons. There is no sexist overtone, except maybe that men are lazy morons.

Fred deserves a Winston break. He spends his whole week at his job where he works on construction, which is dangerous to begin with, but they have to use dinosaurs, so he risks getting eaten daily at work. I don't know why Wilma would bitch at him to do chores while he's enjoying a Winston break.

They had to stop making cigarette commercials when they started putting the sergeon generals warning on the cartons. I think also our government passed a law at that time banning cigarette tv ads due to the "just" discovered health hazzards of smoking.
