I love how Flag killed this guy in the book, it gave me chills. I think it was something like "There are worst things than fists.... There are teeth..." and what made it even more shocking is that latter in th enext chapter it said somethin like he was still dieing.... Great book. Havent seen the film yet, not sure I want to.
@deadmike you just convinced me to buy the book , i first bought the movie just watched it and i really liked it !! so if the book is even better ! i will buy it!
The book is and forever will be a classic. The movie (for television, anyway) will always be a classic. The acting (except for Molly Ringwald, who I thought was wrong as Frannie) was superb, especially Gary Sinese!
Ossie Davis played The Judge very well. Had this been real life I would have never stopped for anybody once I crossed into "The West". I would have shot anybody on site.
Sorry man, I got this movie from Netflix and swiped this scene. After I uploaded it, YouTube cut it short by a few seconds for some reason. So I can't re-do it :\
Really? I heard he was gonna make a series out of it? They'd have to cut like fuck all though, and it wouldn't be that great I don't think. Like they'd have to cut alot of Eddie Dean's heroin use and Detta's language.
If they are going to remake it, I'd like them to make a real effort of it: put it on HBO to avoid meddling and give it some credibility, put a decent amount of cash behind it, get somebody like David Simon or Michael Apted to direct it. It could be fantastic if they did a good job of it.
Another example of why you never want to put anything in Sam Rami's hands a gun, the necronomicon, a video camera, the script to spiderman 3 because everything will end up DEAD. lol
Damn, you people are so picky. They probably didn't have time to wait for a rainy day, and who gives a crap about what guns they use? They still got most of the scene down great.
The whole concept of Flagg was that he was what most believe the anti christ to be. Someone with great power who will decieve a lot of people. But as the anti christ will, Flagg loses.
You're Right...The Judge did have a video in the book...they also disitigrate his head in the book which they don't really do here...I've read almost all of Stephen Kings work...The Stand was my favorite!! Yes, that "hippy" was Randall Flag, but I think he was more scary because he was more normal that we expected!!
Both the Mini series and the book were good. They left out a bit, but its ok. overall the movie is about 6 hours long and if your watching it all at once its not really too much of a loss. If youve read the dark tower series by Stephen King all of his books make a lot more sense including this one. I dont want to spoil it but Walter is a lot more than he comes across as in the stand.
I can't wait to see the minseries. I am nearing the end of the Editors Uncut version of the book. It would be awesome if Stephen King decided to re-do this with better effects. I have seen the intro; its like people judt died on the spot, carrying thier lunch trays and sitting at their desk. Hard to swallow when you read how people actally died in the facility.
Don't listen to them...the movie is very well done. You have to remember, this was an ABC miniseries. They didn't have the budget nor the creative freedom to actually portray The Stand as King wrote. But still, it is an EXCELLENT miniseries.
Well, some pictures and clips I've seen from the Internet kinda makes the movie look like some crappy Western, but I'm kinda looking forward to Jamey Sheridan's Randall Flagg performance.

No, Bobby Terry tried to say, but nothing came out. "HEY, BOBBY TERRY, YOU SCROOOOWED IT UP!" the dark man bellowed, and fell upon
the hapless Bobby Terry. There were worse things than crucifixion. There were teeth.

Helghast1988 3 years ago
He still uses his teeth. Watch the bit after this where he's talking ot Lloyd over the walkie talkie or whatever. His mouth is covered in blood.

Where did you hear that? Wow, it would be nice for one of King's better books to be made into a "good" "motion picture" for once.
MaxxUS08 3 years ago
Where did you hear they were going to remake it? I think thats a load of BS.
If you want a better version of the Stand read the book. The tv-mini series was pretty good but could have been better.

it was on some site that wanted to make it like LOTR in 3 parts

It's fairly faithful to the book, especially the first part, but they leave out some simple little
bits that take away from the ominous feeling of the
book. The military crackdown is largely left out,
for example. It comes across kind of cheesy, like
most King movies. Also, Jamey Sheridan is a TERRIBLE
Randall Flagg. He's like some Redneck jokester,
rather than the "Dark Man". It's just good enough
to make you wish for the little things that
would could have made it much better.
morecowbell1969 5 years ago
I didnt think that Jamey Sheridan was that bad as randall flagg. He wasnt super scary but he still did good job.
