The Stalker games should have had similar music to this stuff. If I were hearing this while in a secret desolate lab underground I think I would have been far more creeped out.
I've seen a couple of other movies by Tarkovskij and I don't like his style, although I admit that it was revolutionary, bold and fascinating. Stalker, however, is by far the most riveting, fascinating, inspiring and beautiful movie I have ever seen. It has some weak points, but as a whole it is absolutely stunning.
I didnt read book, but I have seen movie and I am sooo imprest by it. It was something new something that I cant describe I was thinking couple of months about this movie and idea in it, really really good movie with some deep hidden idea
I don't understand the contradiction. You "don't like his style", but Stalker is "the most riveting, fascinating, inspiring and beautiful movie" you have ever seen.
I think zedr77 is talkin about movies like Mirror or Offret. These two movies are more talkative even if the ideas are still deep or fascinating. Stalker is a real contemplative movie. For Offret and Mirror that's a mix between the contemplative and the talkative gender. =)
That's of course just an opinion.
Personnaly, Stalker is my favourite movie of all time. And I love Offret and Mirror too. I have to see Nostalghia, Andrei Rublev and Solaris of this director. :)
Whach it with subtitles as I don't think anyone vas brave enough to do voicework on this one. Its inpossible to do right. Also If you get sub files make sure that russian speaking ppl agree that its a good one, as bad subtitles could spoil this movie (since dialouge is a key element here )
Finish the book before watching the movie. Also, the game has absolutely nothing in common with the movie, except for the basic premise of a "Zone" and the title. Stalker is a philosophical movie that has no real genre; if you had difficulty reading the small sci-fi novella by the Strugatsky brothers you will find Tarkovskij's masterpiece very hard to sit through.
