You do realize that there is evidence that Rich, and Bloodline Families have controlled the US since the beginning of its time right?... My argument is how do you really know that your facts are facts? i mean what we knew 10 years ago we said are facts.. but now can be disproved... You can't even be sure you know what your saying is right.. But you believe it. <-- That's why religious people can reject evidence.
Holy crap. Talk about more than meets the eye. I was expecting an immature but half-accurate and honest rant... but instead I find a well-spoken, organized, insightful and positive message. I hope my daughter grows up to achieve your level of understanding and eloquence... but I guess making sure such a thing happens is my job, right?
Scientific evidence? Political evidence? None of what government says and teaches make any sense. Look out and find the evidence of a lie. Even if God or some being out there does not exist, question yourself of your being, and then answer if a God really exists. Or take the more primitive path and kill yourself to put your soul to rest. After all, evidence is not easily found without a little discovery. I believe in no religion but I stand against the evils of this world.
As a christian, i would like apologize (not necessarily "apologize" but im not sure what other word to use) for the lack of argumentative abilities of my fellow Christians...some of them do tend to just stick their noses in the air walk away saying "i can't hear you!" Although there are a few of us out there who enjoy good debate using scientific facts and points that are hard to argue and i suppose its just unfortunate you haven't come across any of them
okay im not religous but.... if man can;t take bare hands and make life without a mate... where do LIFE come from... seeing how man cant genetically engineer tissues, living bacteria, etc. So my question is if mankind can't make life, and even if aliens made us who made them?
@AnthraxAce "seeing how man cant genetically engineer tissues, living bacteria, etc. So my question is if mankind can't make life, and even if aliens made us who made them?"
@johnrainrules Google, the difference between tryhards taking youtube comments way too seriously and kids who use youtube for entertainment. YOUR the reason Youtube is getting ruined.
@jpeeke5 "I have the letters Ph.D in front of my name and I say that this bone turned into that bone millions of years ago. Evolution is one heck of a story."
I have a book of myths that claims the Earth is flat and a sky fairy spoke life into dirt 6,000 years ago.
You ask why we ignore theoretical ideas from scientist? The same reason you ignore theoretical ideas from the Bible. I would rather live my life as though there is a Heaven than die and find out there is one.
People, chill. I am fully aware of the comment I put, and I meant it. But you people need to stop taking it as a negative thing. I agree with her 100%, but all I was saying is that the religious will reject proof and science because they feel a link between themselves and their religion. And as a Buddhist, I know what that connection is like. And I was an Atheist most of life until a few years ago. I understand both point of views, and I know what I'm talking about. (for the most part)
@CrazyGirlOverThere "I agree with her 100%, but all I was saying is that the religious will reject proof and science because they feel a link between themselves and their religion. "
This is why it is so important to stress intellectual honesty. I don't choose what I believe for the most part. My opinion has to change if the evidence proves me wrong. The religious already have a perfect, unquestionable truth. They claim to already know everything they need to, with complete certainty. It is that kind of thinking that belongs in the infancy of our species.
I am an atheist too, but please leave people's views on their religion alone. I come from a very religious area and you obviously don't understand. Some people are homeless, sick, and starving, and their only hope in the world is to think there is someone watching over them making sure everything is gonna be okay. And when these people breath their very last breaths, they wanna think that they will finally be at peace in heaven. So please just keep your opinions to yourself.
@rleeermy Listen. I'm not telling anyone to respect Christianity. You can hate the religion as much as you want, but do you honestly think they're gonna change? They think that as long as there SOMETHING in the world, it's God. They will not change, so let them be. And by the way, Christianity is a very beautiful and well thought out story. It has good morals and suggest one thing everyone lacks: Peace. And so does Buddhism and many other religions. (I'm actually Buddhist-Atheist)
@CrazyGirlOverThere Well I just couldn't disagree with you more. Christianity teaches such wicked nonsense as vicarious redemption and non-resistance to evil. Also a core teaching is that everyone to doesn't accept a share in a grotesque human sacrifice will be tortured forever. Forgive me if I fail to see the beauty in all that.
@CrazyGirlOverThere "You can hate the religion as much as you want, but do you honestly think they're gonna change?"
This was actually the point of the video. All the evidence on Earth won't help because the religious reject evidence.
"They will not change, so let them be"
When they do me the same courtesy, while they try to legislate their insipid morality I will oppose them. Of course a video you have to click on is different from door to door evangelists.
@johnrainrules Door to door atheists would just get shot by violent theists. (Theists, don't read this wrong, I'm not saying all theists are violent, but that there are violent theists. So let's not have your persecution complex act up tonight).
@rleeermy Genius! Our civilization is at stake, so we cannot afford 2 respect any faith-based claims. I'd like to agree, at least in part, but how do you see our civ. being at stake... which would also imply its being in jeopardy owing to any beliefs in God/Religion.
@mixopolis1 In so far as that people can make the most outrageous claims, no matter how hateful, and get a pass if they just say it's a matter of faith. In any serious discussion a person's beliefs must be justified. Faith by definition is an abandonment of reason and if that is all they can site for what they believe then what they are saying doesn't deserve any kind of respect. It is only through doubt and skepticism that we have achieved anything as a species.
Why would you care that people are religious? That's a bit intolerant, don't you think? Look at it this way. If you're right and there is no God, then you both die and nothing happens to either of you. You rot in the ground blah blah blah. But if they're right, they die and go to Heaven and you go to Hell. Why take the risk? I know people who live completely happy lives as religious individuals. Why bother them? Nothing can disprove God, and nothing can disprove science. Get over yourself.
@MindGameX54 We care that some people who are religious do everything in their power to impose their beliefs on us. That's very intolerant.
Pascal's Wager is a false dichotomy. It assumes there are only two choices, i.e. the "Abrahamic" god or no god, but people believe in lots of gods, so you'll have to believe in all of them or you don't know where you'll end up. Why take the risk?
Since there's no evidence that a god or gods exist, there's no rational reason to believe they do.
@MindGameX54 "Why would you care that people are religious?"
Yes, because it's atheists who run around knocking on doors holding copies of the God Delusion, lobbying for stupid laws because of their flat Earth myths, and getting preferential treatment from the Government while they rape little boys.
My beliefs (and one of the reasons that kept me religious for long) is that it's scary not knowing what comes after death. It can be scary knowing there's no definite plan for you, that there may not be a special reason for your existence. It's also scary for something you grew up with the majority life to be challenged and proved wrong.
@neonxblondie I was like you.I actually feel better now as an atheist.I no longer believe something because It's convenient. You might not though.I suggest to try stopping doing any religious thing(like praying and going to church) for a week.If nothing out of the ordinary occurs try for another week,if something does occur don't try for another week.If God does exist,he would forgive you as he is the all forgiver right?
@Nethertar I consider myself agnostic/athiest now. but because the religion is so instilled in me I do say "thank you God" and still pray from time to time...It's weird! But I definitely cannot believe in a religion or god with so many logical fallacies.
I reckon let Christians be Christians and let atheists be atheists. I hate it when people impose their beliefs on others which is what Christians are known for -.-
Everyone thinks they're right & it works just listen understand the language and choose to live in joy in your own way. Religion is like a football team in the NFL people will follow if you create a good show. & it doesn't affect anyone it just helps them.
@Georgebeatz ORLY? I guess them trying to get their fairy tales taught in schools as fact, has no effect on us, especially that good 'ol story, creationism. I guess them trying to get a religious person voted into power in their country, so they can base laws on their religion, isn't effecting us. I guess them hating gays and treating women like dogs isn't effecting us. Religion effects everyone, it is a cancer, it needs to be completely destroyed.
The Truth bears witness of itself, Only lies has to be explained.
I pray God will open up your closed little mind.
2 Timothy 4:2Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. 3For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Nice vid but really there is also one reason and it answers the video title quite well, its called cognitive dissonance. This is what the religious are experiencing, look it up the web.
@LiberatedMind1 Very humoring! U make up your own delusions, and to cover your own guilt trips. I remain at peace in the Truth, that has been written long time ago, in this book called the bible, try it, the Truth might make U free from your sins. Rightly divide the truth, will U??
@timestandingstill The bible? Oh.... You mean that ancient book of fairy tales written by primitive retards who said they was INSPIRED by god (notice how they wasn't told by him) just so they can scare people into following them and then using it to keep them in check and get them to "donate" to the "church" and it has hundreds of contradictions, historical inaccuracies and logical flaws. I know that book, ye', it's definitely the truth, it's not like science has proved it wrong already.
@timestandingstill You don't understand the bible, because you're a fucking moron and you haven't even read it. And NOT A SINGLE THING you have just said makes sense. AT ALL. Seirously, you represent the real scum of this planet, somebody so fucking stupid and mentally ill that you actually believe you make any sense at all and that you are correct. You need to go learn how to speak English, ok? ok.
No offence but the Bible states that the gospel is foolishness to those who are perishing.....and this is the simple reason why you don't understand. I think that pretty much sums it up. :)
The atheist makes all sorts of argumentation against God's existence. And the logical mind says, "SO!" While I believe in the Triune God, I have also wrestled with the idea if I am wrong. If I am my response is, "SO!" I don't care. I'm not required to care. There's no God remember? No omnipotent power there to hold me accountable. I live and then go into nonexistence. Which means I'm doing whatever makes me happy. I don't care what you think and I'm not morally obligated to.
There was a comment on here a minute ago that read "What if you're wrong?". It's either been deleted or I'm now unable to see it for some reason. Regardless...
First of all, fuck off. Pascal's Wager is, at best, a deplorable attempt to force somebody into religious belief through fear. Secondly, it fails utterly as an argument; if God is omniscient, he would be able to tell if you truly had faith in his existence or if you were just hedging your bets and pretending to believe.
"There is no fear in love and perfect love casts out all fear." I really wish U the best in your life. This is a very troubled world, and without God's love it can get worse.
I pray that U can truely come to a better understanding of God's word. By the way who is Pascal's Wager??
you want proof? answer this question then... why is it that if you say you believe in God, no one has a tendency to disbelieve you, but if you say you believe there are purple dinosaurs in your back yard, people will suggest you see a shrink? a belief in God is not proof of insanity (according to science) but a belief in purple dinosaurs grazing in your backyard is? does this mean than the science of psychiatry acknowledges the existence of God?
if we talk evidence as general and they wont listen to it is because most of the people that is religious does it out of fear since they have no backbone.
@SirRampautus No backbone? I'll have u know that I have stood down Devil Dogs! Jackyls... Delta...well, I was going 2 use a derogatory term for dem deltas only dey was a answerin' to General Michael Hayden & dose above him; spineless! Have U ever put your life on the line for anything. Write me back U little worm! ON second thought, I dare you... grow a spine grub & let's get it on... Feelin' Lucky Punk!
In the first few seconds of this video, you said "..I can present to them scientific evidence, philosophical reasoning..." (I'm assuming you meant evidence and reasoning that there is no God, or atheism) Please, show me evidence God does not exist.

@Jboogie8812 Ah, but to answer your question and be serious my love, whether ye be a he or a she; Yes, for I met the Devil once, and it was not a phantasm, and it was not Funny! In fact, he had the most hideous, hiss like voice that anyone could ever dream; correction, not even Dreamworks, or Michael Eisner could have dreamt it! It was pure evil... cold, devoid of warmth, and black as the blackest Night! Something that indeed would derive pleasure from a Blood Sacrifice! Evil Incarnate!
Continuation of Grand Trifecta from Below; 2, in doing so she not only retains her delusions of intellectual Saintliness, she also receives a constantly replenished big boost 2 her once frail & fragile wittle ego; tranwation-the once wittle insecure tart is a big girl now! Yes,she's all grown up and full of atheist vitriol...most of it aimed at Christians. 3, she is the 2nd coming of Christ; if only all those po' wittle Cwistians wld wecognize she just wants 2 save their witle misguided wives.
Addendum, 4 it would appear that, 1, either I didn't meditate enough, or 2, there just wasn't enough space to make my pnt so perfectly clearly. Or, maybe it's just because Ms.GoGreen18 is so blazingly blunt & abrupt in her ever so above reproach expressive (& never repressive) treatment of everything that I have been called 2 point out that which is her grand trifecta; One, since she hates religion, but doesn't hate a single soul that's Christian, she succeeds in her 1st ego-maniacal-delusion. 2
I've now meditated further on it all, and have found it 2 be quite revelatory; by pointing towards religion, as, Laci, Ms. busy as a bee ACLU'ee, battered women counselor extraordinaire (just don't mention Jesus if you're there), and Sex Educator Par Excellence (I'm sure she's now going out of her way to sing the President's Praises after his most recent edict to any and all Catholic run Institutions), GoGreen (yet another prt of her cover 2 hide everything) doesn't hate but loves everybody!
Why do people pud people in a box? How is every religious person the same? why do people believe that all christians think the same way? Because of video's like these. Bubble that their living in? u pud everyone in a freakin box. U can't just say that every religious person is like you describe them, just because u had a conversation with "them". If, for say an Athiest go's and commits a crime, are all athiests criminals then? according to your logic, yes. WRONG.

@bornagain001 I must disagree... I, several cousins of mine, and my girlfriend have all come to terms with atheism, and we, like countless others, find it rather comforting to quit deluding ourselves with religious nonsense. There are 5,000 religions in the world... why are you so comftorable with insisting that only yours is right?
@nardo363636 Yeah, and every man who isn't a complete retard would hand you your ass for speaking that way to someone for no reason. Just because she disagrees with your religious horse shit doesn't make it right for you to make a complete ass of yourself, you bigoted fucker.

The Believer walks by faith, the unrighteous by sight; the Believer lives for God’s glory, the unrighteous lives for self-gratification; the Believer understands time is eternal, the unrighteous believes time is temporary. Life without Jesus is like an unsharpened pencil. THERE'S NO POINT. That's why we find suicide so prevalent in the lives of unbelievers. They live a life of NO HOPE.
>implying an animal or insect or bacteria or a tree has no point on this earth because they aren't mentally adept at cognitively choosing a belief system.

@GreenerNautilus ...and yet EVERYDAY all over the world...we find the Holy Spirit DRAWING people to God without any proof. Right now in Iran....there is a man who has been convicted to death because he has rejected the FALSE RELIGION of Islam by becoming a Christian. The same thing happened in Rome under Nero. It will happen again under the Anti Christ. The the Holy Spirit draws you to God...it is undeniable and no proof is needed. You do not know God because you have not been PREDESTINED.
once i turned from my family religion i became deeply depressed and withdrawn.. i suffered from delusions of grandeur, thinking that i could attain "the truth". first through religion and then through philosophy, the more i read the more i was discouraged.... Now im 19, and i walk with a skip knowing that noone can really know what the true meaning of life is without direct "divine" intervention, and that the only certainty we can truly have, is the certainty that life is just too uncertain.
religon doesn't crupt people. people crupt religon. and christian can think well and criticaly. I went to the chopping block with my religon and came out a stronger christian but not only that I also gained respect for any type of religon or ideaological view points. It made me more open to every kind of person in the word really.
unfortunately people are biased to their own beliefs, so no matter how much proof you have they will dismiss it. The truth is there is no way to absolutely prove that god does or does not exist, but thanks to the efforts of the great scientists of the world, we now know that the universe could have come about without a creator
Life is special, because it is temporal and limited by time. Whether or not a temporal life or an infinite one has more meaning comes from the fact that in one there's a much greater chance to live without accomplishing something of meaning or worth. The other is indeterminate imho.
There is nothing wrong with belief.. just don't try to convince others that you are right.. it will never ever work. Belief is not about proof, it's about belief and some people need it wether it makes sence or not, right? And why convince people that don't have the same belief that yours is the right one? Might aswell start a discussion on which religion is right then eh? And expect results? Nah. It's not what you belive, it's that you belive in something.. science? God? Yourself?
@frankleeseaux i'm not sure what you're trying to tell me. but i disagree that science is a philosophy. let alone the ultimate philosophy. you can't measure everything. science only deals in measurable, quantifiable, experimental matters. science is a method not a philosophy. philosophy is often not concerned with details. it's more like an art. it's a different type of thinking. a more eloquent person would be able to differentiate the two. do they co-mingle? yes. but are they the same? no.
@madddawgg2 Philosophy was practiced within the Catholic Church. Many priests were directly responsible for some of our greatest scientific discoveries, through philosophy. When finally, a need arose, to determine definitively, "ultimate reality." So, a couple philosophers, working on their own, devised a method of determining reality. Of course, they ended up realizing "ultimate reality" was a bit beyond reach. to be continued...
@madddawgg2 continued... They realized also that it was better that understanding of the universe, and nature, be allowed to grow and progress. Thus, the scientific method, included within it, a means of altering data which would, and potentially could prove to be false. Thus, the scientific method was born, and, over time, and through great pains, perfected to the degree we have today. It is, by no means, perfect. But, it is the best, most reliable/predictive system developed yet.
You sure seem like a good hearted person. I do wish that you believed in God though. I'm certainly not here to push you ome way or another. Anyway, your a sweet person and Ithink the world needs more soft hearted people like yourself. Take care. And SOME good vids
4 anyone who was wondering-the below was based on Best Shapeshifting Evidence to Date-volume 7 or some s**t. Or, maybe I was just having a delayed, ultra violent reaction to David Icke...
Also if people want to practice religion, that's fine. If they agree with whatever set of values, follow them. Just don't force it upon other people, and same goes with atheists. Science proves objective fact, and religion is more subjective, a deeper meaning, in things such as parables. I'm not religious, but if you follow a certain set of values while accepting objective fact, well then that's about the right balance, for me anyway.
I was born catholic in Ireland. I was baptised, made my communion, made my confirmation, and said what needed to be said. Do I go to mass? No. Have I ever read the bible? No. Do I care one bit about religion? No. The only reason I was baptised etc. was probably because we had parties afterwards. I even go to a school run by the jesuits, and my English teacher (A jesuit) isn't even very religious. Stop caring about religion, there are tons of more issues that need more attention.
The religious must reject evidence. If they didn't, their common sense would force them to have to face up to the fact that god is a myth and therefore, heaven does not exist and with no heaven, this means that they would have to accept that when they die, that is the end of everything for them and that is too terrifying a prospect for them to face.
@Thimbledunk I have no problem with that, as long as they keep it to themselves.
It's when they start trying to bolster up their own insecurity and convince themsleves of the rightness of their belief by Inveigling others to join them in their delusion.
Even that would be acceptable, but, as history has shown us, when their numbers grow to a certain level, they see it as perfectly legitimate to attempt to enforce their beliefs on others by force of law.
@Darwinsman Videos like this, or posts like yours, are also attempting to convince others of a viewpoint. And your comments also contain strong senses of control and enforcement. How would it be possible, for example, to 'police' the sharing of ideas, opinions, philosophy, spirituality, without that being just the very type of social control you're rightly concerned to avoid?
@Thimbledunk 1/2. I'm sorry if you think that I wish to control or police the sharing of ideas.
It's the imposition of ideas that I disagree with, from whichever direction it comes.
Having come from a religious background and from what history has shown us, I have found that religion is so convinced of the rightness of it's cause that given the slightest opportunity, It will, in its eyes, for the best possible reasons, try to impose its beliefs on everybody. Cont'd.
@Darwinsman I don't think you 'want' to control people's thoughts - I just think all of us sometimes fail to consider the full implications of our standpoints. If someone has the belief that others should be socially coerced in to not socially coercing others to belive something, then that's obviously a flawed argument.
@Thimbledunk However, the real issue is that the terms of a discussion should not be manipulated to falsely favour one viewpoint before the discussion even starts. For example, why should 'God' - a supernatural being experienced largely intuitively - require any scientific validation or physcial manifestation whatsoever? Surely God, like other more mundane perceptions, can't be 'captured' by scientific instruments.
@Thimbledunk If and when people will, and they always do, and always will, attempt to use their own intuitive beliefs about this GOD, and what this GOD expects of humanity and the individual, and how they live and behave in a very physical, very real, very provable world...Then, they must provide real world, physical evidence to support their claims. They must be able to prove this intuited GOD exists. and they must prove the expectations of this GOD.
@Thimbledunk 2/2. Freedom of thought is a two way street. If the religious wish to publicly propagate their views without evidence, then Atheists and others who disagree with those views, must reserve the right to challenge them to prove what they say. I've noticed that this is exactly what the religious demand from the non-religious, and rightly so.
@Thimbledunk I am an atheist. I DO NOT live in terror of my death. As a Christian, I did. I lamented, constantly over whether or not I was worthy enough of Heaven. As an atheist, that is no longer a concern. But, I wouldn't want this to sound like an emotional appeal. It was just a result of the thinking process.
@frankleeseaux It is, of course, quite obviously an emotional appeal. However, many people do fear death - and many also fear,or feel a great sorrow, that they will never see their loved ones again. Maybe you feel better without religion - but are you sure you're not trying to evangelise that sentiment to everyone else?
@Thimbledunk Nope... Not evangelizing. Just expecting those who proselytize to provide evidence for their claims. That is a very different motivational factor.
@Thimbledunk Its amazing how you just ignored everything I just said because you know I have a valid point. This is my last comment, have a nice life (yes I mean that in a good way not a jerk way.) Okay bye! :)
@Thimbledunk Actually, I have a very big problem with it, and for good reason. If religion were to confine itself to what one might expect beyond the pale, I wouldn't. But, religious people and their doctrines expect all others to conform to a specific value set, with no basis for support of those notions, other than intuitive hunches about what they believe this benevolent creator and giver of life beyond life might expect of it's creation. This then extends to denial of science.
@Thimbledunk Denial of science has lead directly to multitudes of deaths, and is leading our world to the brink of destruction. Climate shift denial, homogenic climate shift denial, faith "healing," righteous warfare, "human nature"(inherent evil/original sin), crime and punishment, inherent superiority(my GOD is real, yours isn't/slavery), divine right(entitlement to use , and even over use, of resources), etc. Those are the ones easily related, others are obscured by the ideology.
@Darwinsman give me some evidence that proves, absolutely, that god doesn't exist. not just christian god. that there is absolutely no god. then we can talk. as-is, you're just calling christians brain-washed, stupid, etc etc. that's insulting and not intellectually honest.
@madddawgg2 It is not me who is making claims for a fantastic, supernatural deity. It is you, therefore the onus is on you to provide the proof for his existence, but you can't.
I expect you can come up with reasons for his existence for someone who already believes or is looking for some sort of easy meaning to life, but that's all they are, not proof.
I assume that you don't believe in the flying spaghetti monster. By your logic, I should ask you to prove that it doesn't exist.
@madddawgg2 Give some evidence that a GOD is even indicated in anything? Science is built on evidence which is found by virtue of observation. What is the original observation leading to a belief in a GOD? What is the evidence in support of this observation? Can that evidence be verified? Can that evidence be used just as easily to support some other claim? Evidence which supports other claims are discounted for any and all claims.
@madddawgg2 Any claim which can only be evidenced/proven by evidence which can be used for any other claims, does not stand up to critical review. Thus, any such claim should be treated as though it isn't true until further evidence which can only support that claim can be uncovered. That is the nature of science, and reality.

Although there are a few of us out there who enjoy good debate using scientific facts and points that are hard to argue and i suppose its just unfortunate you haven't come across any of them

This is why it is so important to stress intellectual honesty. I don't choose what I believe for the most part. My opinion has to change if the evidence proves me wrong. The religious already have a perfect, unquestionable truth. They claim to already know everything they need to, with complete certainty. It is that kind of thinking that belongs in the infancy of our species.
rleeermy 1 week ago

CrazyGirlOverThere 1 week ago
@CrazyGirlOverThere Well I just couldn't disagree with you more. Christianity teaches such wicked nonsense as vicarious redemption and non-resistance to evil. Also a core teaching is that everyone to doesn't accept a share in a grotesque human sacrifice will be tortured forever. Forgive me if I fail to see the beauty in all that.

MindGameX54 1 week ago 2
@MindGameX54 We care that some people who are religious do everything in their power to impose their beliefs on us. That's very intolerant.
Pascal's Wager is a false dichotomy. It assumes there are only two choices, i.e. the "Abrahamic" god or no god, but people believe in lots of gods, so you'll have to believe in all of them or you don't know where you'll end up. Why take the risk?
Since there's no evidence that a god or gods exist, there's no rational reason to believe they do.
YY4Me133 1 week ago

The atheist makes all sorts of argumentation against God's existence. And the logical mind says, "SO!" While I believe in the Triune God, I have also wrestled with the idea if I am wrong. If I am my response is, "SO!" I don't care. I'm not required to care. There's no God remember? No omnipotent power there to hold me accountable. I live and then go into nonexistence. Which means I'm doing whatever makes me happy. I don't care what you think and I'm not morally obligated to.

Life without Jesus is like an unsharpened pencil. THERE'S NO POINT. That's why we find suicide so prevalent in the lives of unbelievers. They live a life of NO HOPE.

@bornagain001 That's what they are trying to prove. How you expect non-believers to disprove god without even talking about it.

Maybe you've answered Laci's question. Religious people reject evidence because they are functionally illiterate.

unfortunately people are biased to their own beliefs, so no matter how much proof you have they will dismiss it.

Nah. It's not what you belive, it's that you belive in something.. science? God? Yourself?
DieselsTreso 3 weeks ago
@frankleeseaux i'm not sure what you're trying to tell me. but i disagree that science is a philosophy. let alone the ultimate philosophy. you can't measure everything. science only deals in measurable, quantifiable, experimental matters. science is a method not a philosophy. philosophy is often not concerned with details. it's more like an art. it's a different type of thinking. a more eloquent person would be able to differentiate the two. do they co-mingle? yes. but are they the same? no.
madddawgg2 3 weeks ago
@madddawgg2 Philosophy was practiced within the Catholic Church. Many priests were directly responsible for some of our greatest scientific discoveries, through philosophy. When finally, a need arose, to determine definitively, "ultimate reality." So, a couple philosophers, working on their own, devised a method of determining reality. Of course, they ended up realizing "ultimate reality" was a bit beyond reach. to be continued...
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@madddawgg2 continued... They realized also that it was better that understanding of the universe, and nature, be allowed to grow and progress. Thus, the scientific method, included within it, a means of altering data which would, and potentially could prove to be false. Thus, the scientific method was born, and, over time, and through great pains, perfected to the degree we have today. It is, by no means, perfect. But, it is the best, most reliable/predictive system developed yet.

Stop caring about religion, there are tons of more issues that need more attention.
mjakes20 3 weeks ago
The religious must reject evidence. If they didn't, their common sense would force them to have to face up to the fact that god is a myth and therefore, heaven does not exist and with no heaven, this means that they would have to accept that when they die, that is the end of everything for them and that is too terrifying a prospect for them to face.
Darwinsman 3 weeks ago
@Darwinsman So? What's your problem with that? Or would you prefer that people live in terror of their deaths?
Thimbledunk 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk I have no problem with that, as long as they keep it to themselves.
It's when they start trying to bolster up their own insecurity and convince themsleves of the rightness of their belief by Inveigling others to join them in their delusion.
Even that would be acceptable, but, as history has shown us, when their numbers grow to a certain level, they see it as perfectly legitimate to attempt to enforce their beliefs on others by force of law.
Darwinsman 3 weeks ago
@Darwinsman Videos like this, or posts like yours, are also attempting to convince others of a viewpoint. And your comments also contain strong senses of control and enforcement. How would it be possible, for example, to 'police' the sharing of ideas, opinions, philosophy, spirituality, without that being just the very type of social control you're rightly concerned to avoid?
Thimbledunk 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk 1/2. I'm sorry if you think that I wish to control or police the sharing of ideas.
It's the imposition of ideas that I disagree with, from whichever direction it comes.
Having come from a religious background and from what history has shown us, I have found that religion is so convinced of the rightness of it's cause that given the slightest opportunity, It will, in its eyes, for the best possible reasons, try to impose its beliefs on everybody. Cont'd.
Darwinsman 3 weeks ago
@Darwinsman I don't think you 'want' to control people's thoughts - I just think all of us sometimes fail to consider the full implications of our standpoints. If someone has the belief that others should be socially coerced in to not socially coercing others to belive something, then that's obviously a flawed argument.
Thimbledunk 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk However, the real issue is that the terms of a discussion should not be manipulated to falsely favour one viewpoint before the discussion even starts. For example, why should 'God' - a supernatural being experienced largely intuitively - require any scientific validation or physcial manifestation whatsoever? Surely God, like other more mundane perceptions, can't be 'captured' by scientific instruments.
Thimbledunk 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk If and when people will, and they always do, and always will, attempt to use their own intuitive beliefs about this GOD, and what this GOD expects of humanity and the individual, and how they live and behave in a very physical, very real, very provable world...Then, they must provide real world, physical evidence to support their claims. They must be able to prove this intuited GOD exists. and they must prove the expectations of this GOD.
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk 2/2. Freedom of thought is a two way street. If the religious wish to publicly propagate their views without evidence, then Atheists and others who disagree with those views, must reserve the right to challenge them to prove what they say. I've noticed that this is exactly what the religious demand from the non-religious, and rightly so.
Darwinsman 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk I am an atheist. I DO NOT live in terror of my death. As a Christian, I did. I lamented, constantly over whether or not I was worthy enough of Heaven. As an atheist, that is no longer a concern. But, I wouldn't want this to sound like an emotional appeal. It was just a result of the thinking process.
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@frankleeseaux It is, of course, quite obviously an emotional appeal. However, many people do fear death - and many also fear,or feel a great sorrow, that they will never see their loved ones again. Maybe you feel better without religion - but are you sure you're not trying to evangelise that sentiment to everyone else?
Thimbledunk 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk Nope... Not evangelizing. Just expecting those who proselytize to provide evidence for their claims. That is a very different motivational factor.
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk It was certainly no more an emotional appeal than your remark about fearing death. Or are we using a biased blade?
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk Its amazing how you just ignored everything I just said because you know I have a valid point. This is my last comment, have a nice life (yes I mean that in a good way not a jerk way.) Okay bye! :)
June160x 3 weeks ago
@June160x Bye.
Thimbledunk 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk Actually, I have a very big problem with it, and for good reason. If religion were to confine itself to what one might expect beyond the pale, I wouldn't. But, religious people and their doctrines expect all others to conform to a specific value set, with no basis for support of those notions, other than intuitive hunches about what they believe this benevolent creator and giver of life beyond life might expect of it's creation. This then extends to denial of science.
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@Thimbledunk Denial of science has lead directly to multitudes of deaths, and is leading our world to the brink of destruction. Climate shift denial, homogenic climate shift denial, faith "healing," righteous warfare, "human nature"(inherent evil/original sin), crime and punishment, inherent superiority(my GOD is real, yours isn't/slavery), divine right(entitlement to use , and even over use, of resources), etc. Those are the ones easily related, others are obscured by the ideology.
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@Darwinsman give me some evidence that proves, absolutely, that god doesn't exist. not just christian god. that there is absolutely no god. then we can talk. as-is, you're just calling christians brain-washed, stupid, etc etc. that's insulting and not intellectually honest.
madddawgg2 3 weeks ago
@madddawgg2 It is not me who is making claims for a fantastic, supernatural deity. It is you, therefore the onus is on you to provide the proof for his existence, but you can't.
I expect you can come up with reasons for his existence for someone who already believes or is looking for some sort of easy meaning to life, but that's all they are, not proof.
I assume that you don't believe in the flying spaghetti monster. By your logic, I should ask you to prove that it doesn't exist.
Darwinsman 3 weeks ago
@madddawgg2 Give some evidence that a GOD is even indicated in anything? Science is built on evidence which is found by virtue of observation. What is the original observation leading to a belief in a GOD? What is the evidence in support of this observation? Can that evidence be verified? Can that evidence be used just as easily to support some other claim? Evidence which supports other claims are discounted for any and all claims.
frankleeseaux 3 weeks ago
@madddawgg2 Any claim which can only be evidenced/proven by evidence which can be used for any other claims, does not stand up to critical review. Thus, any such claim should be treated as though it isn't true until further evidence which can only support that claim can be uncovered. That is the nature of science, and reality.
