  • I called Red Jacket Firearms about customizing a 1911. They're asking for almost $4,000.00 and they can guarantee a 2 inch shot at 20 yards. They are highly recommended by friends, I don't know them. Do you or have any of your friends know them?

  • thats a beautiful kimber... i always get in mental conflicts with myself because theyre so expensive, but then I see one like yours and get aroused

  • ive got a ultra raptor and its a real shooter and kicker with that aluminum frame. Ive got a DW valor which is my favorire 1911 hands down.

  • I really liked the video. Thank you for making it. I do wish the DW was still only around $1000.

  • The DW VBOB retail price is $1650...The Ed Brown Kobra is $2,500 so still a huge $850 price difference. Still think the new forged DW Valor pistols are best buy 1911 on the market for the money. Ed Brown quality for less.

  • @MrCleanerNash In the end they are all great guns, but Dan Wesson is a noticeable step down from Ed Brown or Les Baer. When you look at price the Valor is only a few hundred less than a standard Les Baer.

  • @worldaccordingtojim agreed...im not a fan of les baer but i see your point. thanks buddy

  • Dan Wessons used to be one of the best secrets of 1911's ever because they made the cleanest 1911 for under $1000. As for cast vs. forged I really believe that to be a myth because I have never seen a 1911 come apart for any reason. I think they are designed so well that there isn't much to improve on the design and the .45acp isn't exactly a super hot round.

  • for the money you would think the mainspring housing would not be plastic and kimber claims their barrels are stainless match is that untrue?

  • @TheUofAfan The MSH is not a big deal, There are only two Kimbers with Stainless Steel Barrels.

Thanks for the review, I just ordered the RZ-45 and cannot wait to receive it. Just as a note to others the 2010 RZ45 has a forged frame, tool steel fire controls, hogue grips, bar stock thumb safety and more. You can tell the forged frame from the cast because it is not polished vs. the old polished cast frames. So that definitely makes it a better value than the Kimber IMO.

Also the plastic MSH is unacceptable at this price range.

  • Great review! Nicely done.

  • Its probably better that the grip safety is a little loose. If its tight, any little gunk or dirt my make the grip safety stick.

    Just an opinion.

  • @sc12100 That is a vaid point, it was just not a tight as the rest of the gun.

  • I got the DW 1911 CBOB. Love it! I spent about $1200 over a year ago and its worth every penny - also due to the fact you mentioned - its discontinued. And I have it!
