@RunningStartFilms Saw this comment before it was deleted, and it made me laugh. It does look kind of like a green screen background, doesn't it? Alas, it was my front porch. I wish I had a green screen setup going on.
@AdamTheAlien I deleted it because after posting it and then watching 3 more minutes of the video i started to see the snow fall and i was like huh guess i better delete that one.
two things, dislike bars can take care of copyrighted material >:3
also, I would not want to give up freedom for security, and even if security were to take place and censor data, the data will always find a new way of meeting the public
The real annoying thing about SOPA and similar legislation is that it also punishes people who didn't violate copyright. If YouTube were to get taken down by something like SOPA, how many people on this site would instantly lose a medium for their own self expression and/or a fledgling business who WEREN'T infringing ANYBODY'S copyrights? I say it's time to start planning a class action lawsuit...
what worries me is this global ACT Trade Agreement. The US has already signed. First of all, I don't know very much about it. But couching the potential repression of creation on the internet in terms of global dialogue and diplomacy seems undemocratic. It prods the cynic in me, to say the least. Additionally, copy rights must be pared back. They can last for over a century, well after a holder's death, managed by an estate. I feel that if you're dead, your rights should revert to public domain.
So glad it didn't pass. At least this is what my mom told me. I haven't checked. But I would cry. My blog on Tumblr is finally growing and Tumblers would be PISSED
i agree, i think, it's just another attempt to control the world, 1 step into silenceing the populus, AND MAKEING IT FREEKING HARD ON FILM MAKERS, being one my self, im worried, very worried
@BarryAldridge Until yesterday, I thought I *was* subscribed, already. But you were on the list of people YouTube showed me (since they're phasing out "friends") as friends I wasn't subscribed to,
I'm wondering how this is still an issue with so many people who are crying out against it. But seriously? Congressmen are old people. They don't see the internet as this vibrant place, a home for a lot of people. They don't understand it. The internet has saved lives, has enriched lives, and they simply don't see that.
Many people are saying that it won't matter, but they don't realize that all of our favourite derivative content would be removed for fear of the removal of the websites hosting it. These bills could break all of the largest social websites of our time, and it's up to us to cripple them.
@c4clive Yeah, the people saying it won't matter tend to either think that this will only target outright, intentional, blatant piracy OR they've caught on to the fact that it won't WORK to fight piracy and dismiss it on that point. But the fact is, the way these are tooled, they WILL shut down legitimate, law-abiding sites while piracy will still flourish. It's no-win legislation.
hmmm i wonder what would happen if we just eliminated money altogether...i know i know thats never gonna happen except in sci-fi shows like star trek...where teachers R teachers because they want 2 teach, doctors R doctors because they want 2 cure the sick, not because of how much they R being paid but because it betters humanity .....seems like this is only a problem because we live in a greedy world
@TheeJediSmurf Yeah, I very much wish we lived in a Star Trek kind of world...though one on your points, I think teachers ARE teachers solely because they want to teach. That's not a career you go into for the money. If anyone goes into teaching for the money, they have a seriously skewed idea of what teachers make.
@AdamTheAlien true true....i only used them as an example for one of the reasons to improve humanity......and some teachers.... like professors DO get paid quite a bit
if you seal of ideas like this it ultimatly kills creativity(Ideas are inspires and somewhat based on works we have experienced, if the lord of the rings was as fearsly protected as some of these things are there wold be no game of thrones).
a LOT of what copyright has become(primarily radiating from the US) is quite frankly horrible. there is nothing whong with prosiquiting someone who steals your work while you are alive, but there are limits(like wen the creator dies). I think part of the problem boils down to corperations who one the revenue from copywrited works and so don't want the coppywrite to runout, such as disney's characters some of whom are allmost 100 years old are still covered.
