at least they rnt killing the lionfish here. killing them does nothing good. they also live hundreds of feet down, too deep for divers and will come back after being "exterminated"
@dahermitcrab In curacao you can see them at less than 20 meters, have seen several this way. And they are killing them there but it's because they are not from that habitat and have no natural enemies in that area and they reproduce rapidly.
I think these fish are beautiful and I agree with spearo92. It would be ashame for these fish to be on the endangered species list, so be careful when it comes to introducing them to a new enviorment.
i watch built for the kill and the lion fish is the most venomos in ocean bottom sea beds its fins are filled with painfull toxic venom that cuases vomiting headchaces and slow breathing
Whoever tried to pass a law exterminating Lionfishes, should get exterminated. WTF would the lionfishes threaten! they have obviously evolved to serve a purpose in the ecosystem. Only humans who think they know better than nature should be exterminated. Those who kill animals to make the natural world a "safer" place for their own recreational purposes should jump off a cliff head first.
but introducing species into foreign environments is harmful to the ecosystem. like in Florida, that is why they are trying to exterminate them there. from what i hear they dont taste half bad either.
the point isnt to exterminate, its to get rid of introduced species, nothing eats them (besides humans) here on the southeast coast like NC, SC, Ga and Fl. they are rapidly spreading and eating all the other small fish including baby fish...some reefs used to be covered in tropical fish but after a couple lionfish moved in, all those tropical fish were gone
dude your lucky your alive i saw 2 lion fish on the florida keys all the scuba instructors went out to look for themselves it was a confirmed they killed the fish on the spot and me and my dad were considered to be the first reports of lion fish in the keys
florida congress try to aprove some kind law to exterminate this fish they say its very dangerous for regular fish coral .looks like somebody trhow this fish in the atlantic ocean and now is a huge problem .
No. There are. I read up on lionfish care for home aquariums, and there was a section conatining information on tank mates for them. Certain triggerfish are not recommended as tank mates with lionfish because they have been known to snap off the venomous spines and harass the fish before attacking them or eating them. Triggerfish are far more agressive than lionfish are. I always thought these fish were invincible, but they aren't. Lionfish have also been known to eat or attack each other.
The fins on that first one are loooong! I like how the other thicker ones come looming out of the darkness ambushing fish and then eating them. Their fins are impressive! Like huge feathers or something.
The fins on the first one are outrageous!!! I've never seen one with fins that long before! That looks so cool how they appear out of the pitch blackness and flare their fins!!!
not so poisonis to the touch but almost like 30 bees swiming they have poisonis spikes that they will sting you with when provoked or when they feel like they are in danger. they get into a preditory stance that is like no other. there bodies are virtical and there spikes are then streched out to make you aware that he means buisness. the sting usually isnt servere on a human just some vomiting and woozzy feeling that is if you not alergic.
I filmed even closer :) although i had gloves on and they toughed my gloves while there were coming to get a meal which they could see by me dive torch.
it is realy cool to see them hunt at night, one dive we just watched them hunt for 90 minutes, then we were running out of air and had to turn back. looking back they were still following our lights :)
The lionfish is an "invasive", non native species to The Bahamas. With no predators and the voracious appetite it could spell disaster for our native fisheries. We need serious help from qualified fisheries scientists.
Thats why we should NEVER release captive fish into the local streams/lakes. Because they can destroy the food chains, Take for instance the Snakehead, once was a cool captive fish but now Ilegal in the US due to the retards setting them free in local waters
hahahaahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaa this fish is sooooooooooooooo boaring and cool
Woow :) great video. Good I like this video very much. I don't know the lion fish will hunt like this .Check out my video the cute lion is acting as though it does not know to hunt ;)

I'm confused. I always thought lion fish were poisonous to the touch, but this diver seems fearless and so close, considering the risk.
