So the same hadeeth could come through varying chains in Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Malik, Ahmad, Tabarani, Ibn Majah, Bayhaqi, Tahawi, Ibn Sad etc.

@reasonlight There are maybe around 300 kutub asliyah, original collections of ahadeeth that receive directly from the isnad, as for kutub far'eeyah, which take hadeeth from the earlier books then there are thousands. You can't follow the Quran correctly without following the sunnah and the ahadeeth are major but not the only carrier of the sunnah. The Quran has a definition, if someone thinks they can only refer to the Quran then they will be stuck at the beginning definition

This means shia & sunni ahadeeth will have many levels & categories mutawaatir, ahad, daa'eef, saheeh, hasan, munkar, marfoo', mawdoo, musnad, mawqoof, munqati' etc. If there are two interpretations of an ayah, it doesn't mean the text of the ayah is false. But just because a man says 'saheeh' it does not mean the hadeeth is saheeh, it also has a method. Not every hadeeth in Bukhari and Muslim is saheeh. But saheeh only refers to a man-made criteria of verification anyway, thus there are differences over various ahadeeth. But the point is ahad ahadeeth are zanni adillah, but obliged to follow.

It means a lie in it is rationally impossible due to successive chains i.e. similar to the way the Quran reaches us by tawaatur. You are not Muslim so your views on this are irrelevant. So the same hadeeth could come through varying chains in Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi, Malik, Ahmad, Tabarani, Ibn Majah, Bayhaqi, Tahawi, Ibn Sad etc.

Why does Allah (swt) say "When a faasiq comes to you with news then verify it"? It shows that the sinner or liar can still in some cases convey a true report. We have many weak narrators in hadeeth but they did not always give weak reports. If a person is forgetful, do you think that means he forgets everything? Think deeper

@reasonlight There are maybe around 300 kutub asliyah, original collections of ahadeeth that receive directly from the isnad, as for kutub far'eeyah, which take hadeeth from the earlier books then there are thousands. You can't follow the Quran correctly without following the sunnah and the ahadeeth are major but not the only carrier of the sunnah. The Quran has a definition, if someone thinks they can only refer to the Quran then they will be stuck at the beginning definition
