  • Such a beautiful song and very appropriate for the movie. Bond was left broken hearted at the end and looking for solace which he didn't find. Bassey's lyrics really communicate the mood of the film.

  • Substitute "no good about goodbye" with "a quantum of solace". I wonder if that's what it would have originally been had the producers used the song for the movie.

  • This is what the songs in a lot of the newer Bond movies are missing. They're missing class. This is a great song, and it would have been great in the movie. The producers should have let Arnold finish the song and brought Bassey back to do it. I think I speak for most Bond fans when I say that's the sort of thing we wanted in the last movie.

  • Correction: this song was not rejected. David Arnold was working on a song but stopped when White & Keys were selected. Later Arnold took the sketches from his Quantum of Solace song and re-worked it for the Shirley Bassey album. Yes, it would have been great to have had Bassey do another Bond theme and this is a great song, but it was a not a case of Bassey/Arnold or White/Keys. People have just assumed it was because Arnold kept his QOS melody in the song.

  • fantastic! Just like the old classics, instead of that piece of garbage from Jack White and Alicia Keys!

  • The timing of things in the titles still fit with the song though. It must have been a pretty late decision to change the theme...

  • @jazzygeofferz I edited the titles to fit the song.

  • wow! Awesome!

  • Jack White & Alicia Keys fiasco that we had to put up with. I hope that they get Shirley Bassey sing another James Bond song and actually this time let them keep the song instead of rejecting it! No one can sing a Bond theme like Dame Shirley Bassey can!

  • Why, why, WHY did they choose Jack White & Alicia Keys? That was the WORST James Bond theme I ever heard in my life!!! I much preferred they used Shirley Bassey's magnificent song which fits the movie perfectly and of course fits title since it's called "Quantum of SOLACE" and there is a lyric that reads "there's no SOLACE in a kiss". I heard that Amy Winehouse (when she was alive) was going to record a theme song for this Bond film and I KNOW it would have been ALOT better than this
