Norfed was raided and shut down because it stood for National Organization for Reform of the Federal Reserve. There are lots of other mints out there making money that mimics US currency that are still in operation. The reasoning the Feds used is a lie. As Ron Paul has said, the federal reserve are the ones printing counterfeit money.
I don't like that it say $50 in large numbers. 50 what 50 dollars? What's the weight? I looks like an ounce but I cant read that. I would accept an ASE or Maple leaf before accepting one of those.
What a BEAUTIFUL COIN! I can't believe the Fed said that the Liberty Dollar is Fraud! Where is the Fraud? I want that Coin and Yes I would even pay 50 bucks for it.
I think the point of the Liberty Dollar is partially to stimulate debate about what money really is. People comment how $50 is too expensive. However, at least it has a partial metal backing. You're not suppose to cash it in, but spend it into existence to stimulate the local economy. However, the metal (silver) backing is there for a reason: the bearer has the final say. That way the currency can never be overprinted and devaluaed. In fact the 1792 Coinage Act states that diluting is illegal!
Why is it that this dollar, costs so much more money than it's actual worth in weight?
1oz , costs you 50$? when it is in fac fluctuates around 14-20$? That sounds like a scam, that sounds worse than what the federal reserve is actually doing... You're telling me the creators of this money are making around 30 bucks off your backs for EVERY of their dollars? Is there something i don't get about the economy... Or am i dead on correct?
I was ready to exchange for some LD but I cannot honestly believe that 1ounce of silver is worth 50 FRN. Like the other poster said if the LD was closer in value to the spot price I would get some too.
Yes but I spent $50 on 3 1 ounce silver rounds that are worth exactly the same as the LD in silver. So while the LD costs $50 for 1 coin I bought 3 coins that are worth the same in silver for less.
As much as i appreciate what the LD is trying to do, their currency has so flaws. Silver's spot price fluctuates so frequently that it is impossible to put a dollar amount on it. I suggest that you go to your local coin dealer and buy 1 ounce silver rounds instead. You can purcahse more for less :-)
the point is that you spend Liberty Dollars. you invest in bullion, and buy Liberty Dollars at a discount to spend at a profit by becoming a Liberty Associate
While I truly support what the Liberty Dollar is trying to do, it is rather silly to pay 50 bucks (plus shipping) for a 1 ounce silver LD when the spot price for a 1 ounce silver round is currently below 15 bucks.
