  • The original was by the Four Deuces, titled 'W-P-L-J' ... you can hear it at nydoowop.com --- click 'Fast 1' in left column ... and then, click on this gem, the 10th tune from the top.

  • this was a radio commerical on r and b stations in the 1950's.

  • This masterpiece was originally recorded at Ray Dobard's Music City records in Berkeley CA around 1956- Legend has it that there was a huge number of takes before they were happy with it.

  • I've never heard a bad version of this song. That says a lot about the strenght of the song.

  • Love it!! ♥♥♥♥♥

  • Framzoid, I think it is by The Four Deuces, not the Drifters.

  • @3inrifle ....Thanks,I stand corrected....great song!

  • @framzoid Yeah...no matter who wrote it....Classic doo-wop (or however you spell it).

  • Zappa didn't write it....was a '50's song by the Drifters...but Frank did a nice version...

  • Was this song originally written by F Zappa?

  • Too cool!

  • The best version I've ever heard !

  • Awesome!

  • White Port and Lemon Juice won't do much unless I throw in a good splash of Martini & Rossi and shake the damn thing up... or maybe, if I just in-jest it, I will then get up and dance and shake out something else... a little cure for the rotten souls Out There in YouTube World... :) love the song, thanks for posting this silly number and giving me an opportunity to be even sillier. Sunday mornings, my favorite time to go reel crazee.
