I NEED to know her name. Come on people, vote this up so we can get her name!! (Or down so you make me look like a total asshole, which would be fair too, I guess..)
I don't understand why that tenor in the center didn't just smack the blonde woman screaming... It's events like this that make people think they hate opera.
For the life of me I just CANNOT understand why this performance wasn't sold out! I can see 9 empty seats in the front and that is plain scandalous! Such dedicated singers deserve better than that! Is it OK if I just busrt into peals of laughter now??STUNNING!!!! Thank you MrFriendofopera, I'm still laughing!;-)))))))!
Fabulous. Does she have a web-site? How can I purchase her CD.? I really can't afford a burglar alarm, so I'm thinking.... yep. This would definitely do the trick!
Agreed that there are a few nice voices in the group, esp. if they are untrained, but as a chorus.. This selection didn't exactly highlight their strengths.
@premieropera1 - No, this was NOT acceptable for not having any professional singers. We've all heard Florence Foster Jenkins and I wouldn't be surprised if I discovered that she was the starring soprano...
You know....the thing is....well....there are actually a few voices there that aren't half bad.....take the tenor for example.....if that is a more or less "untrained" voice then he is pretty darn good!!! I applaud the effort.....and yes....that Eb will haunt me for a while I fear ;))
i have to hand it to you guys, i had read through the comments and was expecting a fantastic ending, bearing in mind, sdnotesmsn said it being funny, i was already getting giddier by the minute, then the final Eb? or D? .... then came the finale !!! LOL, I have never laughed and sprayed my mon with spit ........ priceless ..............
I can't stop watching this. One of the funniest things I have even seen (being an Opera nerd).....look at the bass on the right give a dirty look at the end.
Acutally the tenor sound like he was profesional. The bass has a good voice. Green but could be VERY good. I almost peed my pants at the end with that screaming soprano. OMG!
Please, oh please, provide some background information! Did this town only have a low-level furniture store in which this performance could take place?
Must be heard to be believed!!!! What a performance!!! I was there. The encore was the entire ensemble singing The Tic Toc Polka in unison. The soprano took another Eb at the end.
all of them have such amazing voices. i like aidas strengt in the high passages, she never loses the charme of her voice. i am impressed! i even like the campingchairs and: WHY not in a clock-shop?!
Lets do a poll here, everybody writes their guess answers to those questions. Who knows, in time someone may ve able to enlighten us and there might be a winner ;)
WHO: Some operatic society (in the fashion of the Amato Opera NY) The Tenor sounds like he could be a cantor in a synagogue. The young bass has a stunning rough diamond instrument.
WHAT: I think that is an AIDA. I am pretty sure about THAT
WHERE: USA
WHEN: 5 yrs ago?
WHY: These guys want to sing and there were willing listeners
Ok, I get the whole amateur singers out having a good time. God Bless 'em. But what's with the clocks??? Is that some kind of set Konzept or was this "performance" held in the back room of a clock shop because of the outstanding acoustics?? And the Aida laughed at herself but her colleagues are NOT amused!! ROFL!!
This is why people hate opera. I now hate opera.

This kind of performance should help us to give credit to the today's professional singers.

With the exception of the soprano. a complete disaster.

this has my vote for the most horrible attempt at opera in history!

@premiereopera1 My friend, you must listen to Florence Jenkins before making those comments.
