Thank you for uploading it. It was interesting despite the sound issues. However, Rupert Penry-Jones seems to have this very idealized idea about the way England was in 1817 vs. India. There were certainly plenty of people dying of cholera and other terrible diseases in England at the time, too, including in epidemics. Many of my English ancestors died of TB. I thought Alistair McGowan's episode was a more rounded look at colonial India than this one.
Thank you for uploading. Intereesting episode. Too bad he did not have time to research his father's side. Part of my mother's side is Jones. it is an interesting to find out about his mother's side though. There was an epsiode series four where Alistair MCGowan checks if it is true he has Indian ancestry or no too and ancesors in the miltery who went to India which turn out not to be from Scotland.
@britfrenir I watched the Alistair McGowan episode quite recently and when watching this one I was quite amazed when they mentioned Allahabad. I sort of perked up in my chair and exclaimed, "That's where Alistair McGowan went!"
@Secturis Allahabad is actually quite a big city, about 5 million people today. And certainly in the 19th century it was an important regional city between Delhi and Bombay.
oh come on England has dust and dirt too. what a silly vow of times in England in the 1700-1800's!

Sorry about the sound, the original file was fine, so I'm not sure why there's a delay! Apologies!
