i love this movie. very eye opening, i first saw this about 6 years ago and really didn't understand it much. but now watching it a bit older i understand the symbolism and great storyline. its cool because i grew up around missoula montana.

This trailer is absolutely aweful and does the movie no justice whatsoever. If I had never seen this movie before and saw this trailer it would turn me away from watching it. I have seen this movie numerous times and it is brilliant. Everything about it from the writing, to the acting, to the cinematography is spectacular.

I love deep movies, I read this book. Truly amazing, wish I grew up like this and not in the Swedish ghettos.

I love fishing, I love my dad who taught me how to fish. I just wish we could have done it more. This movie is awesome

The photography is wonderful in the earlty evening light. I guess Pitt was cast because of his likeness to Redford who embraced the etherial sense of Norman Macleans novella. As with The Tree of Life, the aphorisms are easy to apply to ones own life and expectations. Under the rocks were the words..........

This is a great film and one that has helped shape what I believe and hold firm in my beliefs. Sure it's a dramatization of someones ideas, but it's not far off! Given a small town, religious roots, close family, it's not that strange. The trouble with America is too many people buy into corporate america. They lose who they are and forget it's their life they are living. Step back from the race and get out hiking, fishing, camping like this movie. Do something that has a foundation. Fish

Fuck that! America is what you make of it every day! The beauty of America is that you have the freedom to raise two boys teaching them as much or as little "america" as you want! Camp, hike, fish, teach them what you believe. The saddest part of America is that people lose their own ideas and become one of the group. Be your own person and these type of movies still exist. We just have facebook now. : )

I just went to Montana for the 1st time with my family, and when we went white water rafting, we were on the same river that was in this movie. I definitily want to watch this now lol:)

If you can't read, Times Square is beautiful. Similarly, it is too bad that plot points, actors and dialog subtract from Maclean's mysticism - captured in the searingly vivid cinematography and Redford's heart-clutching narration .

For the sceptics... Skip the cheesy narrator (cause he's not in the movie) and skip the cheesy "America always prevails" music (because its not in the movie either. I saw this movie before I saw any advertisement for it, and I loved it. It has genuinely poetic and beautiful scenes, and drama. I totally sympathize with people who are turned off by this trailer, it makes you want to puke up the overly wholesome plain oatmeal you just got force fed.
