  • @karlarsch56b U serius or trollin?

  • @TheGreven91 im serious. i think a real drumsound of a real drumset would be great. this sounds all the same...

does anybody know why he uses this thing?

  • @karlarsch56b he can get more rhythms going at once in theory since he has ten fingers(even though he doesnt use all of them) rather than two drumsticks, but i think he just likes to be unique...

  • vix shred the bass!

  • i think its because his moustache..but look now he got tha style..with his hairstyle, hiphop shirt, sporty shoes, cool guitar, and without moustache..

  • why does bela keep drooling? lol. or is that a string or something?

  • Spain is one of my most fave tunes of all. Hearing this is awesome.

  • you think he looks older in this video than he does now?? i don't see that at all

  • Flamenco on guitar = fingers rape.

    ond bass...........

  • Victor's solo.... HOLY SHIT!

  • I think Bela Fleck drooled at :53

  • @Brewers511 It was sweat. Those lights are hot and they are working hard. You can see it later on a close-up that his face is totally drenched.

  • Did Johnny Depp see Futureman before he starred in the Pirates of Carrebean?

Wooten's at his best any time. Ageless, really.

  • Did Johnny Depp see Futureman before he starred in the Pirates of Carrebean?

  • ohhhhh!!! THE BROTHER OF VICTOR WOOTEN!!!

  • Reminds me of Phil Lynott - Old Town

  • bela fleck = mcguyver of banjo xD

  • @Frikkn I would say Bela is the Chuck Norris of banjo

  • @Frikkn I would say Bela is the Chuck Norris of banjo

  • @Frikkn I would say Bela is the Chuck Norris of banjo

  • @Frikkn I would say Bela is the Chuck Norris of banjo

  • Hmm.

Did any of you noticed Roy Wooten is wearing some sort of Star Trek next generation uniform:D

  • just saw these guys in seattle. the camera that aims up at victor is like exactly where our seats were. AND THEN HE SAT DOWN AT OUR FREAKING TABLE!

  • @zabaglione12321 I am so jealous.

  • @bassman071 He asked us where the food was and autographed my friend's CD

  • @zabaglione12321 Ahhhh!!!!!! You bastard! :D I really hope I get the chance to talk to Victor one day... maybe even a lesson.

  • I'm sorry, I missed it, could you play that again?

  • Bela's rockin' an awesome power mullet. He is superhumanly talented, however, so I will allow it.

  • These guys are awesome. I only feel sorry for Bela's "Xororó" hairstyle...

  • 5:15...coolest thing you'll ever listen to ....genius

  • victor higlander wooten jejeje

  • The greatest living electric bass player, Victor Wooten.

  • around 4:50 the camera cant keep up with vic's hands. holy eff its beautiful

  • man, it's a 1993 record;)

  • Yes, that is Vic

  • To me, no one can surpass this performance for this special song. Very beautiful, moving, unforgettable..... Reminds me of all the wonderful times I had in Spain. Bela Fleck, I adore you!!!!

  • h.peter0425 sosem hittem volna, hogy ebböl aszörnyü hangszerböl ilyen csodát lehet kihozni

  • greath, and bela fleck " THE BEST "

  • M A R A V I L L O S O !!!

  • yeah i'm pretty sure thats a synthaxe

  • hmm cool but i like better with a sax

  • @WelcomeToZomboCom -with a sax rather than what ?

  • @FenceThis Just add a sax to this mix!;)

  • go banjo go.

  • i saw them a long time ago at Wilmers Park-they were amazing..wow blows me away

  • we played a chick corea tune in band in high school. it was fun

  • @pb0o6 same here

  • Victor is such a bad ass bass player! Woo hoooo!

  • In my opinion it is a casio Synthaxe...

  • can anyone tell me what that thing is that the other guy isplaying and its like a box wit buttons on it

  • He is Victor Wooten's brother "futureman" and is playing percussion on the one of a kind instument he inventetd, the synthaxe drumitar

  • its a drumitar i think .... and its like a drum set but in a guitar ..... is pretty crazy .... but he can use that very well

  • aguente bela fleck!!!!!!!!!!!! :D XD ._.

  • What a great band! Just fantastic *****

  • What's the difference of a trampoline and a banjo? You'll take your shoes off before you jump on a trampoline!

Just a joke! That's great music!

  • Looooooove music jokes!!!! :D

  • looool love that one. I agree, great song!

  • The most obvious one is at 6:46 It's pretty obvious.

  • Notice that bela missed 2 notes, you can kinda tell he realized on stage that victor was playing a lot better than him at the time. Victor played everything that was there and not there D*%^n!

  • dude messing up two notes in a song like this is awesome!

  • que va a saber una vaca de astronomia!! Bela puede perderse las veces que le ronque la anona xq el es el COMPOSITOR de las canciones, ud que ha hecho para que critique!?

  • Big deal. Have you ever tried playing this kinda music?! I assure you Victor has missed his share of notes, and I'm sure you could find some if you look hard enough. Besides, we are probably talking about missing notes in the middle of an improv section, which happens all the time. Many classical musicians mess up on peices they play hundrends of time over, the exact same way. Improv is making stuff up on the spot!

  • Oh yeah, I recently noticed a screw-up on a Paquito d'Rivera song, haha. I suppose with songs that difficult and that long, you can't do much about it

  • I'm kind of curious... at around 4:34 after Victor whirls his bass around him, Bela Fleck turns and points his banjo neck at him. Is he trying to tell him something?

  • @PleaseDonate

no, he's fixing his wire; which got caught on the headstock.

  • Oh yeah, I see now. Thanks.

  • he does this in germany cause americans are foul little nasty pigs and they lost thier souls like the japanese in ww2. the only way for japanese to get thier souls back is to reclaim the lost land . its a mere past historical anachronizm

  • haha.....reggie is that you??

    victor's the man though.

  • i'm glad i watched that!

  • the explanation is that people from wootens planet age backwards, and have titanium thumb bones!

  • wooten isn´t huma

  • Victor is insane!!!

  • The Curious Case of Victor Wooten?

  • Any one agree that Vicor Wooten ages backwards?

  • I do.

  • @ap2011 Or maybe it's because this was filmed -93?

  • @ap2011 Must be Victor Wooten ...Grey!

  • @ap2011 hahahaha so true.

  • @ap2011 The record is from 1999. They were all young.

  • Comment removed

  • great band......love the bass player

  • Victor Wooten is a God of bass.

  • Bela Fleck: The Master.

  • The original Bela Fleck & the Flecktones were as: Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Roy Wooten(Futch) and Howard Levy who left the band in 1992...he played on there first 3 albums..he was the glue to the early sound...with his incredible piano and harmonica work.

  • cette musique est trop bien ! je conseille l'écoute de la version studio sur l'album "crossing the tracks" c'est le meilleur arrangement possible de cet instrumental de folie !

  • wicked arrangement

wasnt there a sax player in the flecktones or was it always the three of them?

  • there was, but he left the band b4 that live performance..

  • no, jeff coffin came in after this performance.

  • Much respect Victor!

What kind of instrument is the pirate playing?

  • That's Futureman. He's playing the synthax drumitar. An invention of his own. It has drum sounds, midi and pre-recorded, onto it that are touch sensitive.

  • that's victor's brother futureman on the synthaxe drumitar.

  • it's a whammy bar guys...just as a lead would have...didnt you hear the note bend?

  • definitely an instrument cord. i think it is victor's. nowadays he has a cordless setup. Huh wonder why? Even in '93 the Flecktones were way ahead of the game.

  • Wait this is weird. At around 4:34 it looks like Vic broke a string, but at 4:44 you can clearly see he's still got four on there. Can someone explain what's goin on to me?

  • I don't think that is a bass string. Maybe a random string from the room or a cord. You can see how quickly bela removes it from the bass. You could not do that w/ a broken string.

    Usually his bassflips are flawless

  • Ahhh, good eye. Thank you!

  • When he spun his bass around his neck at 4:30, his cord got wrapped on the instrument. Bela unwrapped it. Victor did not break a string (although with his attack, I'm sure he can and does). And yeah, he's got a trem arm on that bass - weird but appropriate for a bass player of his caliber and creativity.

  • damn right "bassplayer guy!!"

  • why thank you.

  • wow! victor kills it time and time again.

HOW ARE THEY SUCH GOOD MUSICIANS!

  • practice, knowledge, and a love of what they do

  • VICTORRRRRRRRRRRRRRR YEAH

  • No, you've got it wrong its VICTAAAAAAAAAAA. You had it close, though.

  • awesome

  • I dedicate the music of Bela to my father, who when children in India made all his 7 children learn an instrument - and accompany us on his banjo.

  • Wow! Love seeing them play a Chick Corea tune! I really can't choose which is better, the return to forever version or this one! Both are fantastic!!!

  • i got an eargasum

  • I'll have to agree with other posters: I've definitely a fan of all three about equally.

  • haha

i get to see Vic tonight in St. Louis

    im SO lucky

  • TREMOLO BASS? AWESOME

  • Bela is a banjo GOD! The playing of Victor is ridiculous, but to dismiss Bela or Future Man's contributions to this amazing soundscape, only proves that the listener was not actually doing that very thing!

This is masterfully done, listen to any of their stuff, and you can hear the genius of Bela!

Much love to all three of them!

  • someone knows the name of the technique that wooten does in 4:23?thakns

  • i believe it is open-hammer plucking with the thumb.

  • its the same as in classical thump, around 20 secs in

  • Musical Genius. this is simply, Incredible.

all these people saying of victor wooten being the main part.. or only commenting of victor wooten.. did you not hear bela's solo??? it was amazing. i agree, victor's solo was amazing.. but it was more about the arrangement of the piece that made it the incredible work of art that it is!

  • victor wooten is an alien, because i don't think human can play an instrument like this.

  • Victor Wooten's solo is so amazing!

  • cool song, i like how bela untangles him at 4:35

  • that was a very, very, very nice bass solo

    What an epic man

    What an epic band

  • one of the best bass players....bela fleck u kick ass

  • victor wooten is the bass player. bela fleck is the banjo player. i don't know how you meant that.

  • i just cant take that guy on the drum thing seriously... and apparantly neither can the camera man.

  • in your face

    realy awesome playing

  • I just saw these guys yesterday in my city Puebla, Mexico. Sold out crowd 2,000 inside a 400 year old colonial building. 2 1/2 hours of pure magic!. I think it was recorded by the state´s television channel, I´ll try and record it when it broadcasts and put it up on youtube.

  • amazing.. victor wooten was a lot skinnier in that day..

  • this song is incredible i watch this video like 3 times a day..all three of them are amazing :)

  • whereas there is something missing, like that guy commented, only the extreme skills the musicians have got make me forget that

  • Man Its like Victor is making his bass a drum bass XD I freaking love iiiitttt!!!!

  • Love This soo much thanks for posting.

  • These guys are all SO good they each transcend their respective instruments. Amazing.

  • Hey! That is Concierto de Aranjuez in the beginning! Rodrigo is one of my favorite composers!

  • victor wooten, THE MAN

  • Futureman is much better now, but I still think this was amazing! I respect your opinion though.

  • who needs a drummer when you got victor wooten laying down the bass, man!?

  • Wow! A jazz banjo player,a guy who invented his own instrument and a bass player that redefines his instrument.Unique? I thinks so.

  • VICTOR!

  • thank you

  • i thought their newest album was one of or just the best.

  • Hermozo Video!...

Me encanta Bela Fleck en sus Años Atras realmente hermosas son las melodias que tocan ellos...

  • Amazing clip! Haha, check out at 4:30 Victa spins his bass and the cord gets caught on his headstock; Bela fixes it for him while doing a G roll, still backing him up! Nice timing!

  • This is replying to an old comment, but when Bela plays "Spain", he tunes it a half-step down because when he heard the song on vinyl to learn it, it was a half step higher. So technically, it was a Gb roll.

  • wow thank you
