Great video of the good old days. I also couldn't help but notice the name of your YouTube account. Does that happen to be a CB radio callsign ? It's funny how often hobbies go together. Photography, HAM radio, CB, photography, RC planes, target practice, etc etc. 73's KSN-8742
Oh, what great timing to see this today. Tomorrow will be the first rocket launch for my little son, 6. My older son, now 15, and I have been doing this off and on since he was about 9. I had an old Gyroc, which was a "helicopter recovery model" that I started building when I was 12 but never finished it. I finished and and flew it with my older son a few years back! That was a trip. I will be flying a whole assortment of rockets monday, and will be taping the fun. Will send a link....
Great video! Built and flew many rockets as a kid. I enjoyed those "Designer's Specials" sold by Estes where it contained parts to scratch-build several rockets.
who cares, I launched 882 estes rockets in the same manner and climbed dozens of trees fences, and ran miles and even swam in april to recover my prized pegasus which lasted 39 flights before being lost forever in a strong westerly wind over the atlantic ocean. THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!
My brother and I were members of the Estes Aerospace Club in the mid 1970's. We launched a few rockets, including Big Bertha and a Star Trek starter kit rocket. It was really fun.
Ohhh, man!! I'm watching that film, and I'm right back there with them, like it was yesterday! I like the "launch pad" he used too. Hey, who needs a blast deflector when you've got nice green grass (that was probably just watered)? - Just kidding, NAR, just kidding! I like the scratch-build that pranged. And the footage of the Ranger was great! And back then, I would have climbed that tree, too.
Hi. I love the music !!!

This is excellent. Anyone got an idea what kind of car that was?
Wallyum 4 years ago
I might be wrong about this, but I think its an Oldsmobile 88, around 1964 vintage.

I think you're right. I had a buddy who had a Delmont 88 with a 455. You could watch the gas needle drop if he floored it.

Yeah, but gas was 35 cents a gallon then, so who cared?

Nice footages! Reminds me of the days when I
launched my model rockets when I got started in the summer of 1969.
