Awesome thanks. Who do you recommend as a voice coach. Do you do it and would you be willing to listen to some of mine and tell me what you think? thx Doug
hey, this was really informative, I would really appreciate some feedback on my demos to se if I should really go out and try voice acting. I am an eighteen year old female and currently have a job reporting traffic at a radio station so I am perfectly comfortable recording with professional equipment and speaking to no one in particular :) Could you please check out some of my impressions on my channel of characters from cartoons, and video games etc... and just let me know if I'm any good?
Excellent video - thank you so much for posting...very helpful information. My name is Ryan and I currently live in Charlotte, NC. I am having some trouble finding a voice over coach here in this city...most seem to be more involved in singing rather than actual voice overs. Do you have any suggestions for me on what I can do. Is it possible to have voice over coaching over the phone?
Heey, im 16 years young and im a girl . I want to go into voice over. I live in ontario. and i have no idea where to start on hiering a coach for my demo. Im not gonna make my own. and I would like to have one perfessionaly done. and how much would it cost do you think?
Or you volunteer at the local access radio for a good studio.
This man is wrong. If you are serious you put a good effort by making a strong script, making good practice and record nicely.
If you are in a major city, check out the ads in the free papers and every 6 months or so there are open auditions that you can see if you have what it takes.
DO NOT spend money on studios when community radio studios are available.
Great advice, thanks for this video! A co-worker of mine is also a speech coach, and we've gone over a few scripts. One tip she gave me from another voiceover professional: practice reading scripts for a few hours each day before you do a demo. So many people (myself included) think you can just pull up to the mic/tape recorder and go with it. However, the first time I read one of my co-worker's scripts I realized that it's not nearly as easy as it looks (or sounds).
I've just finished having my voice over demo professionally produced (used to be in the VO biz a hundred years ago when your demo reel really was a REEL!), and would like to post it on youtube and other albeit longshot online locations where it just maaay be heard by someone who does some hiring. Have also sent out to every VO Talent agent in my area. Just waiting to hear back/follow up. I can only see the opportunity to post video, can you direct me as to how to upload the audio file I have?
Omg don't I know it lol my voice doesn't match me at all it's all girly. I took an interest in this video and I am seriously thinking about taking up voice acting. I can make my voice do all these weird accents and stuff but like 90% of the time it's for fun but it's something I enjoy doing and I think voice acting would be great *-*.
Hey Terry, I'm serious about getting into voice over. I'm 17 and I'm graduating high school very soon and I was just wondering if I should hire a voice over coach or take theater in community college? Love your videos!
I recommend DEB MUNRO for anyone who is looking for a Coach, she rocks, and has prepared me for my future in Voice Over! GOOGLE her and find out for yourself
I once knew a co-worker who was taking voice talent/ coaching but I did not know him well enough or work with him enough to pick his brain. Where would you recomend starting the search for a coach and/or producer. I believe my voice is usable, i just need to tame it. Good tip Thanks!
Man....congratulations....I really really want to be an excellent Voice Over....It's all about studying and practicing....it doesn't come up suddenly....from Colombia a hug and thanks for sharing this with us!
I don't get what type of thing you need to say in a demo...
