this happened to me, i work in tesco, and i was given a scottish £10 and i was like umm .... i dont know if ....... uhh ... then this scottish man from the other queue next to me came over and said that!!! i couldnt stop laughing when i thought of this!! aaahahaha
I'm Scottish and this is fucking brilliant. I love it! The thing about Scotland is that the majority of us will laugh but a few idiots take it serious. The thing is, all of this is true...especially the legal tender bit!
This maybe funny but being from Scotland i would like to add we don't sound like that well i don't anyway and neither does anyone i know, we don't act like that either wonder why comics think we all sound like Billy Connely? which they do a terrible impression of him too!!!
@lisamusicsmithy I know and they wonder why we get pissed at them... And I don't think he sounds like Billy Conoly at all, he sounds like a prick. This behaviour from the English really is starting to annoy me, and a lot of it recently is because of Frankie Boyles statements on Mock the Week. Recently an English friend of mine claimed that when he came up here to visit he saw 10 heroine dealers randomly dealing around glasgow, I've lived here for all my life I've been offered to buy twice.
@MrMetalheart10 Glad that you agree, i have lived in Scotland all my life, i was born and raised in Edinburgh and have only lived in Glasgow for 6 months but i have family here i can say as Scots we do not sound like that and i have never been offered drugs, why do they make Scots all sound like assholes and pissheads too, were also made to look like that on tv but if you slag an English person off then it is like you have commited holly murder!!!
@lisamusicsmithy I think you'll find Lisa you do speak like that... ;) Just how anyone within a 50 mile radius of London talks like a black cabbie. I actually live in Surrey and when i tell that to anyone they start say ohhhh very posh, then when you say Croydon they think your going to stab them... you just can't win in these stereotypical times.. Haha
@deantrainor well since you are so quick to judge people then maybe i should make the assumption that you are a dickhead? and a homo phob? as you think all people from Edinburgh are gay? also maybe i should think that you are a little tosser who sits in your room every night on your pc as you have no mates and that you are a prick? i hope i assumed right? as you like to put assumptions over then so have I? what a shame there are morons like you in the world.
@lisamusicsmithy a homo phob wat a fukn gay thing to say ,, tosser? oh mate u assumed wrong pal fukn plenty more pals than u ya wee bender .so think u can start talkin like ur a little hardman we clear ya wee puff?
@MrMetalheart10 I must say i went to Scotland this year for 2 weeks camping and everyone was lovely and the scenery was something else. We did however drive straight through Glasgow as it look a bit rough and i come from Croydon. Haha. Is there a massive council estate somewhere in Glasgow as i have a feeling that's the way we came into the city, its kinda like Sheffield when you come in you think christ almighty what am i doing here. The only other bad thing was the midgies raped my face...
@MrMetalheart10 i totally agree with you it is getting out of hand and maybe he is not trying to sound like Billy Connoly but Navid from still game? why do they take the piss out us though it is not on!!!
@G1NZOU They aren't even legal in Scotland... English bank notes of denomination less than 5UKP were legal tender in Scotland under Currency and Bank Notes Act 1954. Now, with the removal of BoE 1UKP notes, only coins constitute legal tender in Scotland. English bank notes are only legal tender in England, Wales, The Channel Islands + the Isle of Man. In Scotland, £1 coins are legal tender to any amount, 20ps + 50ps are legal tender up to 10 pounds; 10p + 5ps to 5 pounds & 2p + 1p coins to 20p
@G1NZOU " if I wanted I would be within my rights to refuse it." No. you wouldn't. for the scot who's money you refused would then be within his or her rights to go straight to the nearest lawyer & sue your company for discrimination. scottish money says on it, e.g. "£5/10/20 etc STERLING" that word "sterling" is what makes scottish notes "legal tender" the length & breadth of the SUPPOSED uk.
In a restaurant, you've already eaten the meal so there's a debt to be paid to the establishment.
Scottish money does not legally have to be acceped as payment of said debt yet Bank of England notes are legal tender so the establishment cannot refuse it as payment.
Look "Legal Tender" up on wikipedia if you don't belive me.
I'm not English so don't call me an "English Bastard".
@G1NZOU 1st off, nowhere did i call you an "english" anything, much less an "english bastard". that aside, i'm afraid i must tell you you're mistaken. or your source is. the fact that scotland is, for the time being, part of the so-called "united kingdom" means that pounds sterling, no matter which UK bank it is printed for, is legal the length & breadth of the UK. the crass attempts at enforcing this myth by a few racists is merely their old hatred of the Celtic nations rearing it's head.
@pfalky2k Why do comments always have to get so immature?? Its a bloody comedy sketch... I will point out though that Scottish money is actually not legal tender in England and Wales. Please don't take my word for it google "Scottish Money Legal Tender" and you will see numerous websites including Wikipedia that confirm my thoughts.
Am i within my rights to ask for gold in exchange for my notes? as it says i can on the notes?? Discuss!!!
@ImDaveCrazy pounds sterling IS legal tender ANYWHERE in the UK. wikipedia is written & referenced by a bunch a schmucks, just like us typing & replying here. hardly the encyclopedia britannica. & i'm sure, with enough notes, you actually CAN exchange them for gold, like you can for any & everything else. else, what's the point of money? my point re. racism stands. AND it is a disease just as rife up here. not being immature. just honest.
@pfalky2k Pre-emptive, I just don't want you making assumptions.
I've got more Welsh blood than English so why would I be "racist" to the country I have most affinity too?
I work in retail so I know what I'm talking about, so does the video poster it appears.
Although I know Scottish money isn't legal tender in England and Wales that doesn't mean I don't find this video funny and it doesn't mean I think Scottish banknotes are crap, I actually like the look of them.
@G1NZOU again. not calling YOU racist. merely pointing out a means by which certain small-minded folk try their damndest to create hardship for other folk, on account of what is basically tribalism. & i should clarify that such is NOT monoploised by the english. we celts can be just as bad, if not worse. we carry grudges for generations. we can hate you for something your ancestor did to an ally of ours back in 1455, FFS lol. all this aside, we ALL here have good taste in humour.
@Leprechaunsquad Clearly you don't, you conformed to the euro a long time ago!! If it wasn't for the strong British pound and the British banks the Irish economy would be just as bad a Greece!! I never understand why someone would watch video they don't care about anyway??

@ImDaveCrazy I know.
I work in IKEA in England, we accept Scottish notes but I did some research and found that if I wanted I would be within my rights to refuse it.
I wouldn't though, I think they look pretty cool.
I'd like to use a £5 coin somewhere, just to see the confusion on thier faces. (^_^)
