Funny thing is that Goku only acquired the SSJ3 form because he was training/challenging strong opponents in 'Otherworld.'

Goku said it himself. That's why he got stronger.Vegeta was on earth. Who was there to give him a challenge so his powers could grow?

Saiyans powers increase in battle and having near death experiences. I bet if Vegeta had gone to Otherworld like Goku and was challenging people he would have reached SSJ3.

SSJ3 doesnt only require strength. it requires heart and the wanting to turn into one. just because Vegeta was strong enough to turn into one, doesnt mean he could. remember what Goku said about it. you have to search deep, and pull out the energy. something that Vegeta never had.

Goku was basically humoring Vegeta just to get a crack at Majin Buu just if you watch goku over the whole series he WANTS that next big fight so he basically let Buu get his energy so he could have a Challenge for his SSJ3 strength. even admits to Vegeta later he had ALREADY was SSJ3 during this fight, but kept the power low not to give anyone a hint.

Ssj3 is energy draining, If Goku didnt finish of Vegeta in a short time , he'd revert back to base.. THEN its all cake from there. Ssj3 is Gokus strongest. But in the long run Ssj2 beats out 3.

@ryancrules623 It literally means 'demon-beast', in the original series, Buu was the only one called majin, Majin Vegeta was a fan name that has been used in video games and Funi DVD releases. But in Dragonballl Online, it is a race (Buu's race), but that's not canon. The other minions aren't called Majin.

Best fight. Vegeta finally bests him. Does Vegeta retain the power increase after he dies? I had always thought that was the case but I'm not 100% sure. He reaches SSJ2 so technically he should know how to reach that again. This is why Vegeta is my favorite character. He's selfish. I only wish he could have destroyed Freeza with his own hands then lost to Goku.

@Ultima770 Gohan was born a gifted fighter like Vegeta but much much stronger. Goku just pushed his body to the breaking point and got lucky. If he hadn't been killed in the battle against Raditz he never would have become a SSJ. Why Gohan threw that kind of talent away to take an ordinary job is beyond me. I could read all the time and become a scholar. That sort of profession doesn't make one immortal in the eyes of society. Being the best martial artist of all time like Bruce Lee does.

@Luigi84289 You're right. Goku said they were equals on that battle...but that was SSJ2 Goku VS SSJ2 Majin Vegeta. As noted by Vegeta on every person who bore that mark, the Majin possession makes you STRONGER by releasing your inner darkness (Yamu & Spopobich were the most obvious testaments of that). Vegeta himself said he let himself be possesed because he knew that, without the Majin powerup, his SSJ2 form was weaker than Goku's SSJ2 form.

Its WITH the Majin powerup, that they are equals.

@Luigi84289 As far as I know (from the manga and what Daizenshuu said about people who got the Majin form) the powerup its only there as long as they have the "M" on their foreheads. The "Majin powerup" ncreased both the power and the brutality by releasing the person's inner darkness. The power, the agresive personality, and the "M" in the forehead, are all one and connected. You can't pick one and discard the others. And when Veget revived, he didn't have the "M" anymore.

Goku needed the akis to reach SSJ2,3,and 4 XD Vegeta got him self to SSJ2 by blowing him self up in Majin form(= to or stronger than Goku`s SSJ2 form.)

Vegeta`s SSJ2 form is(I say IS) stronger than Goku`s SSJ2 form so he only can beat vegeta by going to form that only he,the guy who got training from the grand kai to become the third strongest in DBZ,after Gohan and super buu(I`m not counting the fused forms)
