@fishaholic2012 turns out all i had was a defective piston the motor did not overheat nor did the piston ring break just piston let go i do have a buddy who has a 115hp evinrude OMC and a 120hp evinrude OMC witch both have never given him a lick of trouble and hes owned them for 7 yrs and fishes every weekend so i think they are good reliable motors now some other not so good what kind boat ??
@01DodgeRAM1500V8 i have a 18 foot Thompson Sea Raider from 1983 and my 1988 yamaha 130 hp is getting old and its time for a newer outboard and I found a 2003 115 hp evinrude ficht ram injection to replace it with...should be getting it this sunday after i sell my old yamaha to somebody this saturday.....and how is the oiling system on those motors? is there an electric pump to pump oil in the engine or is it hooked up the the crankshaft? how is yours made?
@01DodgeRAM1500V8 my yamaha has its oil pump hooked up right to the crank shaft of the engine so it will never fail but it has an electric pump to bring the oil from the tank in the boat to the smaller one mounted on the engine...are the newer ficht evinrudes like that?
From top to bottom: Scraper ring (narrow end up), Compression ring, & then oil ring. Make sure the gaps are in different locations on the piston. Doesn't hurt to lightly buff the piston on a wire wheel either before you put it in.
