@Reflekted what color was ur hair natually i'm thinking about whether or not to use the cinnaberry temproary one....i have dark brown hair natually so i guess it would go red brown im just scared of not liking it...advice? oh or it never comping out and nt washin out int he 28 washes
I'm dying my hair tommorow with Natural Instincts (: I'm using Cinnaberry. The stuff it comes with is excellent quality. Very nice latex-feeling gloves (as opposed to the crinkly plastic), good directions, and a GENEROUS amount of conditioner (they give you enough for you to use it repeatedly for 5 weeks... though I bet you could get more out of one, and if you have to get two boxes of hair color, you're probably good till your next coloring!)
I used this stuff before. It's ok.I like Ion Color brillance better, which is a demi color. It last loner than semi color.I get this from Sally's Beauty store.
Natural Instincts is only temporary if you are dyeing your hair LIGHTER than your natural (virgin, uncolored) color. I love this brand and use it to color my mousey light brown hair a rich dark brown (I use #24 Clove- Med Ash Brn.) But it has never washed out completely, (i've used it for years.) It faded a little in several months of not coloring, but never went back to my natural shade. The instructions do clearly state darker shades won't wash out, especially the black shades.
Yes! I hate it, ppl never believe me about having light hair until my roots start to come in lighter than my ends....brown does fade a little, but a darker color will also 'stain' more on hair the more you use it, so my ends which have been dyed countless times can get really dark and my roots tend to be lighter. Its a REAL pain.
@touchedwfire does the kind you use (#24 med ash brown) come out pretty dark like brown/black?? because i think i may have gotten one that is too dark and i wanna try this one
@Farkletta Yea, it does start off super dark because my hair is previously colored and more porous than virgin hair. If you're worried, try the light ash brown shade first, and if its too light, try the darker. Or you can try a few other techniques- use a protein filler from a beauty supply store, like Sally's. They are in the hair coloring accessory section, with the bottles and such. Or you can try using a conditioner on your hair before you color to seal the shaft and prevent absorption.
DONT BELIEVE THAT ITS NOT PERM!!! I havnt dyed my hair since last november (2008) i used to use natural instincts, it is STILL in my hair! im waiting for it to fully grow out. its only less than half way grown out. and now i cant do ANYTHING cuz if u dye it again it will dye ur natural hair lighter, so im basically screwed till it grows out. just warning you. i wish someone had warned me before.
Haha, I always used one of their dark brown shades, maybe for about two years. Over the summer it was extremely faded ALMOST to my natural color I use the color the same way I always did and BAM it came OUT BLACCCCCKKK! And did not wash out or lighten for anything, it was like blue black. Maybe a factory mistake? YIKES! Otherwise I love their stuff.
Oh yikes. I might have preferred red purple black to the FLAT WEIRD almost gray black it came out to! How far has it grown out? I ended up having what had not grown out yet bleached to a dark orange (since my LIGHT BROWN roots were grown in about two inches it looked scary), and dyed it all over deep auburn, thank god it's not black anymore haha
@JenniferGentle88 it had grown out to above my ears which is not bad considering i have really long hair and i hadnt dyed it since mid nov 08. i ended up getting highlights ONLY on the parts that had not grown out and dying it medium ash brown and doing medium ash brown highlights without bleach on the parts that did grow out and it looks good :D im a normal medium brown now not as light as i want but it will do. i was so tired of black!
waitttt im confusedddd so do you try to keep it away from your scalp? cuz my hair is like black but i want to dye it alot lighter and i dont want the roots to show alot right after i finish and look all messed up...
i know its hard to get lighter hair if your hair is black, i am also aware the there is somekind of hair treatment that u can do before coloring light that will help you get the color you want.
i would recomend u go to your local pharmacy and ask them if they have that. hair treatment!
ohhh ok so it makes ur hair healthier?? thats pretty cool i think i should try this....so after 28 shampoos the color just comes off? and ur stuck with ur old natural color??
it does it says the moore u use it the helthier ur hair will be
and i am naturally dirty blond and i colored black and its takes more then 28 washes to take the color off the darker u will get te harder it will be to wash off
ohhhh ok so i want a lighter color so will it come off after 28 shampoos? or will it just leave a different color? like will it just go back to your regular hair color after 28 shampoos??
everyone one know that u should take the white cap off, i dont have to go into details and explain everything, i believe people are smart enough to know something like that! sorry i wont waste my time with this!
@baconismydrug not if it a vegetable dye like special effects or manic panic

It's also important to use a plastic hair clip....no metal tools at all. They could react with the dye.
