@death2160 Quite wrong, there are many (and it still surprises me) women on Japanese battlefields. I don't think that they were considered "samurai" but they were certainty there, and are much easier to find evidence for than kunoichi, which I cant think of any primary source that names one.

@Geyowoh248 and i know what kendo is. it is no "swords martial arts" it is a martial art that revolves around the use of the katana i'm not sure about the wakizashi though. anyways the reason that i'm telling you this is because there are many different martial arts that teach how to use blades like fencing and eskrima.

@death2160 I'm not going to get into this too much, but it should be clarified that Kendo has little to do with the katana [any more], as we shouldn't confuse the use of the shinai and katana, they handle very differently and are practised very differently.

@Zornocology I wasn't going to, but I will emphasize that the relationship between the Shinai and the Katana have been continually widening since the early 1900's, and even though there were some tremendous efforts to return Kendo to its roots by people such as Takano Saburou, it still differs in its use in how the two tools are used. I will never say that kendo has nothing to do with the Katana as it primarily derived from Ittou-Ryu Kenjutsu, but to practice one is not to practice the other.
