So did I, Hayfords, with a young German student called Astrid Shulz. From the Sixties to mid-sixties but young as ever and still love all this. Cousins too. Bert tuning up for hours then going into 'Running From Home'. Beyond magic. Loved you, Bert.
It took years to relize that this was a duet. I learned it as a solo, and with luck could expand it with a jam with another guitar player. Stupid git ...
I think you'll find that it's Renbourn taking the bulk of the lead here...always a much bigger fan of Renbourn than Jansch...both excellent players though...
I have a fun game - listen to this with your headphones and try to work out who is playing pan left and who is playing pan right for the first forty seconds. Is it John living in my right ear and Bert living in my left? Who knows..guesses?
The real stuff that Pentangle was made of. - Never managed to figure out how 2 very different guitarists play so well together, especially Jansch sorting Renbourn out so well.
So did I. With a German girl called Astrid Schulz. Whatever happened to Astrid? Whatever happened to me? I have the feeling that there was a young fella that used to warm up for them at the Horseshoe, John Martyn. Or not?
you can be full of happieness and luck of this meeting you see them. At this time, me for example, i only have "ears" for the music of Black Sabbath...a dream for me to catch these "golden" British Folk-Rock times...
Funny you mention Black Sabbath... I roll up my taste for Pentangle with Steeleye Span and I have mentioned that the song 'Robbery by Violin' by Steeleye Span is probably where I got the musical taste for Black Sabbath... most noticable in the tune Inspiral Architect

I used to watch these two and the group they played in - 'Pentangle' in the back room of a pub in Tottenham Court Road in the 1960s.

Nick Drake, John Martyn, Richard Thompson, Bert Jansch, Tim Buckley. They all have great taste in Bass. What a legend Danny Thompson is.
