"you grabed power"!!!!! "and with that power!!! we've made a world were no eight year old boy will ever lose his parents because of some punk with a gun" "you win" these were the most powerful statements ever made by batman. I have to say this is the best animated show I have ever seen. They should really get back to doing this show again at least it dealt with real life situations, you are never to old to watch cartoons hell I'm 32 and I still love watching this stuff batman rules!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't really get this argument. Even the regular Batman is still a violently fascist psychopath. Just because he's not AS fascist as Justice Lord Batman, that makes him okay? I love Batman, but he really has no place arguing against fascism.
@BatmanOneOhOne amanda waller did argue about that point later on. didn't she's but good point never the less. too bad cartoons in cartoon network are too focused on a specific age bracket. i never new how deep this cartoon can get on some times
I love how this was a battle of morals, rather than a physical altercation, as was with the rest of the justice league members. Scenes like this show why batman is the greatest hero in comics. His only power is his dedication to the preservation of life and joy, an emotion he hasn't felt since he was eight years old. Batman for life.
he has felt joy, at least in this incarnation. It's often said of comic batman that Bruce Wayne is the mask and batman his real identity, but it's not so true in this cartoon. He does became more emotionless over time, but he cares for robin and alfred and all his comrades, and has loved women. He's made and laughed at jokes. Bruce Wayne in this is less of a playboy and more of a philanthropist and businessman than in say, Batman Begins.
@JustThink00 Yeah, but i think he hasn't felt genuine happiness because his very existence is driven by misery. Bruce Wayne became batman to escape his pain, but by becoming the bat has allowed his pain to take over his identity.
well, I may not actually understand "genuine happiness" as you do, because...well, I'm a bit similar to batman in that regard. I've felt joy in many ways, but there is always a sadness there. Never unmitigated joy. I've not explored the uppermost realms of the emotional spectrum since I was very young. If that's what you mean, perhaps you are right.
Some time ago. I made a comment that I was proud of. Today I come bearing apologies.. I knew not what I spoke. I have brought myself great shame, and have brought you great shame.
You can't argue with or win against the bat !! Unless he lets you that is... After all "the system doesn't need stitches or a cure" it only needs THE WORLDS FINEST !!
Seriously... 1:16 that is why Batman always has been and always will be my favorite hero. He turned the pain and grief into something constructive, striving so that no one else would have to feel the same pain and loss. Why can't there be a real life Batman?
It's such a beautiful dark scene, a psychological battle where Batman tells Batman what he knows but doesn't want to admit. Well crafted by the creators of this show.
@sheld512 Well that's what happens - somebody comments that a video has no dislikes, and what are "cyber-rebels" going to do? Dislike it for the hell of it!
The reason he won ther argument was because that was all Batman ever fought for. He didn't try to avenge his aprents as much as he tried to save anyone from the same pain he underwent.
Notice here: Batman is fueled by an unbreakable will. No matter how many times you hit him he won't stop. The only way to stop him is to make him give up. And the only person who can change his mind is himself. So he is virtually unstoppable.
If Batman and Chuck Norris ever glare at each other.....
this is how bad ass batman is, kids check for monster in their closet monsters check for chuck noris i their closet and chuck noris checks for batman in his closet
Thumbs up if you want to see Lord Batman in a comic mini series; since the other 6 members are in jail, Lord Batman gets a totalitarian rule over his Earth all by himself.
The questions in this episodes make it great: do we want liberty or do we want security? Live in the eyes of the bright sun or the pale moon light? The sun is bright and blinding while the moon is soft and doeesn't give enough for anything to grow. Do we want to live blind or stunted?
@cheesetothepower To live blind is to believe we safe when we really are not and to live stunted is to never grow and learn from our mistakes. we can't be Blind and we can't be stunted,we must be both, in the middle. or else we will destroy ourselfs or be so corrupted that we can never return
in the killing joke it seems like, just like the joker, batman is insane, but deals with it a diffrent way, so in essence, there can be no negitive batman, you'd simply get the joker
and thats not to far off, while batman lerks in the shadows, stays annonimiss, and fights crime, the joker stays in the spot light, loves attention, and spreds anarchy
this negitive batman is not really negitive as much as what could of been
I miss the point Our batman made lateron, where he asked the justice lord batman if their parents would be proud of someone who sent people off to jail for complaigning about a bill or littering. The combination of these are moments are so incredibly strong,
sure the only way to save the world is to become a facist, becoming the law as Lord Batman implies.
But League Batman's counter was just as epic, remember their both doing this because their parents died. After a old man is arrested for complaining about his food "they'd love it here don't you think? they'd be so proud of you"
Kevin Conroy's skill at voice-acting is best shown here, I think.
Despite being the voice actor for both characters, he is still able to keep both Batmans separate individuals (listen for small tics between the two) and yet make a compelling argument.
Many, many thanks for uploading, one of, if not the best sequence from Justice League.
"A better World" The way this episode haunted the Justice League in everything that came after it probably made it the best alternate reality storyline of any comic, cartoon, or movie. Bruce Timm really hit a grand slam with that one.

He was uniquely suited to understanding how he could go the wrong way and so uniquely suited to talking some sense into himself. It is a strength of Lords batman rather than a weakness that he listened to reason.
this scene proves that theres only one person in the entire dc realm that can make batman give up on his quest. that person is batman.........i dont care how much strength is in super mans punch or how much energy is in gl's ring. neither one of them break batmans spirit
@Bl1stson In fact, they say that if Batman has a superpower, it is an almost superhuman strength of will-- Batman once destroyed an army of Bat-clones created by Darkseid's scientists by using his own *memories* as weapons against them; the duplicates clawed their own eyes out, killing themselves because they couldn't handle the angst. The scientists even wonder themselves, what kind of a man can make weapons of his own memories.
@Bl1stson Many people have said that if there is one and only one superpower that Batman has, its a superhuman strength of will-- that no one, but absolutely no one can beat the Batman for sheer determination and force of will. Not Flash. Not Green Lantern. Not Wonder Woman. Not even the Man of Steel himself-- NO ONE.
"you grabed power"!!!!! "and with that power!!! we've made a world were no eight year old boy will ever lose his parents because of some punk with a gun" "you win" these were the most powerful statements ever made by batman. this scene proves that theres only one person in the entire dc realm that can make batman give up on his quest. that person is batman.........i dont care how much strength is in super mans punch or how much energy is in gl's ring. neither one of them break batmans spirit
