What's the difference between the three and four point interlock method?

The 3 pt. (north, east, south, east) creates a looser/bigger lock. The 4 pt. (north, east, south, west) creates a tighter/thinner lock. Great question! :-)

thank you so much for this info! I think your locs are still a very nice size although you combined. I like them very much they are not too big. This info was very helpful. I like the tiny ones I have, however I started w/shoulder lenght twist b4 interlocking new growth n I will prob combine by braiding I want so bad for my ends to be together verses loose. I hv very thick bush hair. Please take a look and let me know what you think! Thank you!

You're welcome and thank you! Your hair looks very nice, lush and full. :-) It will take time for your ends to lock, so in the mean time it's best to just leave them alone. The good thing about the size of your locs is that you can always combine them later on.

Why do people "combine" their sisterlocks? Is it just a time to maintain thing? Because I thought most of us got sisterlocks because they are small. Mine are "medium" and "large", but obviously still really small compared to traditional locs. So why all the combining?

Great question. People combine their SLs for many reasons so there isn't a general reason. I can't speak for everyone since each person has her own story and reasons for combining, but I can only share why I combined mine. One common denominator i've noticed is that some people who have combined their SLs mentioned something about their health, whether it's scalp, hair, root bed, lock. etc., but that's all I know. I hope this helps.

Anyone can wear micro locks and you can start them in many ways with twists, braids or interlocking.

i am in the early stages of locs and i am interlocking.. i wondered how to maintain the shaft of the loc//braid. mine have become very fluffy/ messy and look like they need taking out. i know interlocking will sort out the roots. But what do i do with the shaft?

Your locs are in the baby stage, so the fluffiness that you're experiencing is part of the locking process and means that your hair is on it's way to locking. It's necessary to go through this stage in order for your hair to lock and the best thing to do is leave it alone. The more you manipulate the shaft, the longer it will take for your hair to lock. Everyone goes through this messy phase and it's temporary. Your roots will eventually go through the same phase as they grow out.

I am in a corporate environment and i need to maintain a certain standard which is difficult at the mo. And i wash my hair frequently as my scalp is very sensitive.. I will just try to smile and breathe :-)

No question is ever stupid. Feel free to ask because that's how we learn. :-) To be completely un-p.c. about it, it's a locking method that involves interlocking your hair into micro-sized locks using a hair tool.

@DynamicRunner I plan on coloring my hair some kind of dark blond or light brown to compliment my skin-tone to lightning things up, I just look so gloomy with all this black hair, I just want a cheerful look...so to say.

I have a light brown skin-tone, so what color would you suggest?

I think that you have the right idea i.e. dark blond, light brown, reddish brown etc. Just make sure that you don't choose a color that will 1) blend in with your skin-tone, because it's good to have some contrast or a color that will compliment your skin-tone, as you had mentioned, and 2) look washed out or drab after several weeks. It sounds like you know what to do, so you should be fine and good luck to you.

Thank you. When I did my second big chop and grew my hair out I never trimmed it for two years, so it was even all around when I locked it.

i have the issue now, with a large end and pulling them through a smaller base, i have lost 3 buds due to this small problem. not sure how to remedy it.

I couldn't figure it out myself either, but i'm thinking that maybe you could pick out just the end of your lock and re-braid it to make pulling it through your new growth much easier.

Congrats....fyi...u can cut off 1 head of the two head dragon at any time and the combined hair blends into the uncut dragon perfectly...continue to enjoy ur locs!

Thanks for your suggestion. I have thought about this, but i'm wondering if i'll end up with skinny locs on the bottom and fuller locks at the top because of cutting off 1 of 2 HD's?

I went from traditional locks to sisterlocks. retightening sisterlocks is tedious and tough on the scalp. i didn't know about latching and nappylock tools before i made the switch otherwise i would have kept my traditional locks. good luck on your new journey.

I suspect that the back will be small still (they were micro to begin with), and the middle/front will be small to medium (they were small to begin with). I'm really curious now. :-)

Right now i'm searching for another medicated shampoo and i've been using my honey+H20 spritz every morning. My spritz is working out so far.

You can use henna neutral to condition your hair. Since you hair is lighter you could use an herbal rinse of chamomile and calendula flower...great conditioning ritual. Luv ur vids
