@deneheat101 its true. it seems like a big reason why lars sounds no where near as good as used to is cause he doesn't hit the drums the way he used to. he was never technically that good, but his energy and pure heaviness has always been perfect for metallica. now he doesn't have that energy anymore so it really sounds bad (comparitively).

@jkjl234 Actually his playing is quite good, especially for being self taught. The reason he doesn't sound near as good is because as he put it "I'm getting lazy" he stepped down his drum set from the big Tama set he had here to about a 7 or 8 piece. He doesn't put the energy into his fills like he used to either, listen to this song and listen to all the fills.

@rickcrisbalthis yeah, i didn't mean his playing is not good. but when you compare him to other metal drummers (Brann Dailor, Danny Carey, etc.) he is NO WHERE near as good, technically. that being said, his used to be one of the heaviest drummers of all time and his style was hugely influential to the modern metal scene. not to mention his song arranging abilities have always been up there with the best.
