But the comics weren't propaganda, they were great comic storytelling, and the cartoons were just silly. And there's no such thing as 'American Imperialism' because the USA never had an empire. Technically it IS season 1. The first 2 openings were for 2 mini-series (Real American Hero and the Revenge of Cobra). The third year of G.I. Joe cartoons was the first time is was a full-fledged series with an actual season, after the "Pyramid of Darkness" mini series. Then season 2 came after "Arise, Serpentor, Arise." Then we had "G.I. Joe: The Movie," and no more seasons after that. It just turned into another mini-series with "Operation: Dragonfire."

I remember wanting to be in Gi Joe when I was a kid. I had the toys,the guns,everything. GI Joe was a good way to teach kids about patriotism and had those famous PSA's(Knowing is Half the Battle).I never thought I'd end up joining the U.S. Army and becoming a Paratrooper. Now that I look back at this cartoon.Sunbow did a great job with animating the battles(especially during the intros) and made it look pretty real while using good referencing.
