Julian is a fantastic musician and singer---love him!!!! He just released his sixth album October 3rd,2011----He is a painter too--No need to feel sorry for him; he has had a very productive and critically-acclaimed career so far. He is a "winner' in my opinion.

He was named after John his Dad, Charles after his Mum's Dad Charles, & Julian for John's Mum Julia who was killed when John was 17. It is a very english thing to name a child at least two christian first names and then call the child by one of their middle names. My parents are english and two out of the four of us are called by our middle names. Chuck just forgot the Charles part.

For those of you arguing over whether Jules is a real musician or not. Perhaps you should do a little research before you judge. He writes some REALLY beautiful music & does play the guitar on stage. I've also seen videos of him playing the piano on stage while singing @ concerts. It's very unfair to him to always be compared to his dad, especially since his style is different. That's like comparing apples to oranges. Just enjoy that he & Sean are carrying on John's legacy in their own ways.

I cringed a little when he was compared to his dad, but then, if it bothered him, Julian wouldn't have done it. Of course, he'd be a fool to miss the chance just because it took his dad's name to get him invited... And he's perfectly capable of singing the song.

For those of you arguing over whether Jules is a real musician or not. Perhaps you should do a little research before you judge. He writes some REALLY beautiful music & does play the guitar on stage. I've also seen videos of him playing the piano on stage while singing @ concerts. It's very unfair to him to always be compared to his dad, especially since his style is different. That's like comparing apples to oranges. Just enjoy that he & Sean are carrying on John's legacy in their own ways.

And if a real musician steps on stage with a guitar, piano players aren't real musicians? Why can't you just enjoy the fucking song?

@nogoidea Singers aren't musicians? I thought the whole point of singing was to use your voice as a musical instrument. Just because he doesn't pull double doesn't make him any less of a musician.
Besides that, if you knew anything about how the song is played you'd realize that there's not necessarily room for another guitar without rewriting the song and readjusting the volume of every instrument.

@Saxonation I've got your point and you're right: I'm not a musician. I'm just a rock'n'roll fan. But I never saw Paul McCartney singing only, for instance, neither Bruce Springsteen (though he's not the greatest guitar player of our times). Of course there are great singers -- and great musician at the same time -- like Ian Gillan, Peter Gabriel, Meat Loaf, but I'm afraid Julian is not one of them.
