and an authority in jazz (if I may say so), yet Red Clay continues to be my favorite jazz piece. Rest in peace both Juancito and Freddie.

There's a song I'm lookin' for that sounds like Red Clay... It has a similar bassline, but the bass is much heavier. The song very mellow, and beautiful, is mostly keyboard, and almost sounds like a Bob James composition, but it's also very chaotic 3/4ths of the way through. I just can't figure it out. Anybody have any clues?

there's a song by Emerson, Lake, & Palmer called "Tarkus", where about 5 minutes in, there's a slow part with a bassline a lot like this. The whole thing's 20 minutes, and it switches from very chaotic to calm, to chaotic again, and the last part is calm too. but check it out, that might be what you're looking for

I always seem to hear the theme of "Sunny"; everything seemed to get more and more electrified and electronified in the 70ties and 80ties, with a natural musical deficits 'till the new "instruments" became more get grasped since the nineties or so, I think; the trumpet doesn't seem to feel too well next the others.
