Wow. Lee Konitz is a genius! He's Bird from an alternate universe haha. Bird was one of the few improvisers that have that *lego block* style of building spectacular solos from his vocabulary. Each line sets up another line to fit not just *emotionally* but logically as well.
Konitz does this as well in his own great way, really digging into those upper extensions and rhythmic displacement. If anyone played in the *spirit* of Bird (not notes or style) it's definitely Mr Konitz.
Wery nice mixture of easylistenig, and modern approach. Mark Johnson has both the drive and intonation OK! Too bad that audio and video were not in proper sync.

Overall very disapointing. There are so many great jazz versions of this tune. They sound like they're just going through the motions.
