I must make a distinction between one being present, and one who actually did the stabbing, which was Charles "Tex" Watson. In his book "Will You Die For Me", he admits to being the one who actually killed Sharon Tate. That when he handed Susan Atkins his knife and commanded her to kill the pregnant actress, she told Tex she just couldn't do it. So Tex grabbed the knife out of Susan's hand as Susan ran out of the house, and proceeded to stab Sharon to death, himself. There IS a difference.

These parole board officers should not be parole officers because they do not follow the Califronia law ! Susan Atkins was sentenced to 7 years in state prison with the possibility of parole ! She had spent almost 40 years in prison ! The whole thing does not make any sense !

I don't think he should be a parole board officer. I do feel very sad for Debra Tate in this video. This was her first parole hearing since the death of her sister, Patti. Steve Parent's sister was almost hiding from the camera. Guess she doesn't want to be scene by millions of people; that I can understand considering the circumstances.

Only a piece of paper says she is still incarcerated. Susan is in a very nice hospital surrounded by her husband and other family and friends. She has many beautiful flowers in her room. There are compassionate nurses and doctors caring for her. Susan Atkins will take her last breath in the comfort of a hospital. She has been blessed.

Read any of the transcripts from Tex Watson's parole hearings and he mentions that it was he alone who stabbed Sharon Tate to death. Read Atkins Grand Jury Testimony from December 5, 1969. She clearly states that she did not stab Tate. She has said this in every parole hearing she has attended. You are translating my compassion for Atkins as an obsession for Atkins. You assume because I do not follow the masses as you do and judge her as most others do that I am to be condemned.

This woman should be paroled. The murders were committed 37 years ago. We send people to jail to rehabilitate them not to punish them. She could be a completely different person than she was 37 years ago. She's older and wiser. To deny parole after 37 years is punishment.

According to the evidence in all of these charges, Susan Atkins did not deliver a fatal blow in any of these crimes (Tex even said that she did Not deliver a fatal stabbing to Sharon Tate). Her crime was complicity and active participation. She did commit an assault on Frykowski, other than that no fatal blow in anything else. Very sad circumstances for this unstable woman. She exhibited a potential for homicide at those crimes. SAD

I must make a distinction between one being present, and one who actually did the stabbing, which was Charles "Tex" Watson. In his book "Will You Die For Me", he admits to being the one who actually killed Sharon Tate. That when he handed Susan Atkins his knife and commanded her to kill the pregnant actress, she told Tex she just couldn't do it. So Tex grabbed the knife out of Susan's hand as Susan ran out of the house, and proceeded to stab Sharon to death, himself. There IS a difference.

I have listened to this video, and I must admit that the man on the parole board is very much against the release of Susan Atkins.
I don't think he should be a parole board officer. I do feel very sad for Debra Tate in this video. This was her first parole hearing since the death of her sister, Patti. Steve Parent's sister was almost hiding from the camera. Guess she doesn't want to be scene by millions of people; that I can understand considering the circumstances.

Only a piece of paper says she is still incarcerated. Susan is in a very nice hospital surrounded by her husband and other family and friends. She has many beautiful flowers in her room. Read any of the transcripts from Tex Watson's parole hearings and he mentions that it was he alone who stabbed Sharon Tate to death. Read Atkins Grand Jury Testimony from December 5, 1969. She clearly states that she did not stab Tate. She has said this in every parole hearing she has attended. You are translating my compassion for Atkins as an obsession for Atkins. You assume because I do not follow the masses as you do and judge her as most others do that I am to be condemned.

Yes I have read and watched the news. I don't condone murder. I do look at mitigating factors. That is what defense attorneys do. Also, they make a huge amount of money defending people like Susan Adkins. She did what she did. SHE and only SHE has to live with that. SHE has/had to make peace with what SHE did. There is only ONE Judge. I don't have hate toward anyone. Everyone is human. Period!

California tax payers since March have payed out 1.15 million dollars for her medical treatment and 308,000 dollars for security. This is because the public is so vengeful and cruel that they would rather she be marked as incarcerated rather than free just to send a message of justice.

RFFNP07 you are wrong like most people. Get the facts .... Atkins never stabbed Tate. It was Charles "tex" watson who stabbed tate to death. ATkins is free. She is not in prison. She is in a public hospital outside the walls of prison. Her family and friends are free to come and go as they wish. She has flowers brought to her daily.

Every account I have seen points to the fact that Atkins stabbed poor Sharon again and again until she and her fetus were dead. It is amazing that you seem to have an eyewitness account of everything about Atkins? Is she calling you every hour? Being vengeful is not cruel--it is healing to people. Where did this "hero" in you for Atkins come from? You're scary.

ATKINS IS NOT IN PRISON. She is in a hospital receiving around the clock care from nurses and doctors. She has visits from family and friends. She is being treated just like any other patient who has a terminal illness. ATKINS IS A PRISONER ONLY ON PAPER. She has been in the hospital since March. Her prison days are over. She is, in a sense, a FREE woman now. HAHAHA ATKINS HAS BEAT THE SYSTEM AND WILL NOT TAKE HER LAST BREATH IN PRISON.

cypresseert, you are either very young or you are sick. Atkins was not put in prison for commiting fraud or robbery--she helped murder 8 people! You have got to be extremely young or immature to not understand the impact of that action. She will not be free, even if you want to say that a thousand times! She is in custody, and will remain that way until she dies. No one is in custody "on paper." She would be shackled to the bed and guarded around the clock, just like any criminal.

For that matter, anyone who knows the facts about these crimes is biased. The victim's relatives have the right to fight for the memory, and defense of their relative's slaughter. If it happened to you, you would be outraged. Always try to put yourself in other's shoes, and experience what they are feeling.

Participation in 8 murders, and you think she has paid for her crimes? How do you pay for crimes like that? You can't. If someone murdered your mother or sister, you'd be singing a different tune. If anyone deserves their incarceration, it is susan atkins. I do believe, however, that because of her condition now, she show be let out, but only because of her cancer, not because she had paid for her crimes. There isn't enough time or deeds that could ever "pay" for her crimes.

If it happened in my family I hope I will have enough God in me to forgive. But this is the way America is going. All of you should take all that hate and pray. She was just a kid like I said. She does not have the same mind she had 38 years ago. Some of these people commenting are young and don't know any better. But some are just hate filled.

I "am" an independent Christian, and wouldn't go near a Texas Christian. I don't like Bible thumpers at all. My point is this: Susan Atkins compassion came when she didn't die in the gas chamber. That was God's gift to her. She participated in 8 murders. Rehabilitation has nothing to do with it. You simply cannot do the things she did, and then cry and whine to get out of prison. To release her would be a slap in the face to everyone. I don't hate her. I like her now, but her criminal record!

This woman should be paroled. The murders were committed 37 years ago. We send people to jail to rehabilitate them not to punish them. She could be a completely different person than she was 37 years ago. She's older and wiser. To deny parole after 37 years is punishment.

crime should be punished and some people cannot be rehabilitated. If we do not punish crime people will think they can get away with it. Shes lucky she didn't get the death sentence. I hope she did find God but only God knows that and it doesn't dismiss her from her sentence. LIFE in prison means LIFE in prison. period.
