I used to keep and breed this species (Veiled Chameleon, Chamaeleo calyptratus), and they do not have this color range. Also, chameleons do not change color to match their background or match what they are touching. They change color to thermoregulate (light or dark to control heat they abosorb from sun), territorial displays, mating displays, and females have a display when gravid to ward of males. This is the silliest urban legend about chameleons.

To all those wondering - this is a cleverly done fake. I grew up in Zimbabwe where we had many wild chameleons - they can't change into those colours. Also, their colour changing is more gradual and determined mostly, if not entirely, by their emotional state and not as a camoflage as is generally thought. Their range of colours is various shades of green, browns and very dark brown/black. No reds, no blues, no purples.
