The kids having to miss school because they can't afford bus fare made me so sad. This cycle will just perpetuate itself.
Let me tell you, if I had to deal with these office drones it would be a different story -- because I sound educated. If you walk in somewhere and sound like you know what's up they treat you far differently. But if you never finished school you'll be completely lost at sea and you won't really understand how to advocate for yourself.
I know its heart wrenching but rather then drag the kids through all of this why not arrange for them to be in care for a shirt while whilst all is being sorted out?They can do what they need to do knowing the kids are in a home, going to school and being fed whilst they get one with the awful situation. Either way its horrible but perhaps its less awful for the kids to be in a set place for a set time whilst the parents get it all together for them as a family. It would be quicker & easier.

why don't they invest in a hotplate so they can prepare food or a slowcooker from a thrift store i can understand though if they have absolutely no money because this is definitely the case at times
I have not seen any of these people apply for a job to better their situation. There's always something out there. If that was me, I 'd be willing to do anything to make sure my kids are provided for and have a roof over their heads. SHAME ON YOU!
@magdi1966 You can't get a job if you don't have a permanent residence, because you can't get a bank account. You would have to work cash in hand which is illegal. Add to that the fact he looks after his mentally ill wife...
@moothacowford its silly that their not willing to move to get a job, its more important to have food and a roof over your head than where you live and your kids going to school. They can come later.
with all the rich people in the world you'd think some of them would come together to start a non profit organization for families like this and build decent houses for them to KEEP.even long term temporary housing would help.shelters here are a joke,they tell you "you've got 2 weeks",others say "sorry we're full" then social services threatens to take your kid if you don't find something.how the hell can families make it in these conditions.
