@THEMASTEROFYOUTBE Okay.. Well don't believe me.. But take a real good look at the video and you will know that it isn't fake. Windows XP load bar is not even "rotating" one time; if that had been fast forward it would move more quickly and so forth. Look if I cut something out as well. You see the light fade because my phone-camera isn't too good. But anyway believe what you want, you're just making a fool of yourself, since what is shown in this video has been done by others
@THEMASTEROFYOUTBE I don't think this video is useless, hence I put it here xD
But I got a better phone, but this video is about to be 2 years old, and I don't have the laptop anymore :-/ But someday I'll make a new video with another laptop if I feel like it..
@Mantua64 i am bout to get a PC, well Ive ordered it - with 8GB RAM, 2.6 Ghz Dual Core (hypertgreaded) intel core i7, 120GB SSD running windows 7...how do you think it'll run for me??
@THEMASTEROFYOUTBE I think it will be fast, but it won't boot as fast as this XP, since XP is generally faster at boot than Windows 7. No doubt Windows 7 is faster overall, when you consider all the different situations, but XP just boots fast.
A guess would be around 15 seconds give or take.. Watch my Windows 7 boot with this laptop in my channel if you want to compare :)
@ebthepcguy No dude, a prefetcher preloads files into the memory, so that the os seems more responsive, but I'd love to hear from u, exactly what mode 5 does since a ordinary google search reveals that this is just a simple hoax..
@ebthepcguy IMO that specific tweak does absolutely nothing and this was already discussed back in 2003 that you could change the prefetcher settings from the ordinary 0 to 3 into 5 which makes no sense at all since only 4 states are possible.
The MS official documentation (available by searching for
prefetch and prefetcher on microsoft's development website) talk about the same 0,1,2,3 and not about 5.
@Mantua64 Really, I did it and it's so fast, it shows the boot-screen, but no loading bar. Oh, and btw, I do know what a prefetcher is; instead of loading "parts" of files one at a time, a "prefetched" file loads the file directly (no parts of files) thereby decreasing the time needed to load the file. Dipshit.
The thing is that it won't work after 5 seconds. The screen is there but the little sandclock is still on. It doesn't mean anything that you can see the windows screen. Thing about windows is that it still "boots" up while you can already see the screen. It's fast nonetheless.
@kistenjoe This is ready to use after 5 seconds, but I do know that Windows is capable of booting additional programs after boot, but this specific Windows was totally clean..
@summt5697 I'd like to add my experience with SSD's to your comment. My SSD is more than 1 year old now, and I rewrite my SSD many many times.. Sometimes I reinstall the operating system more than once a day.. I am totally hooked on trying out different setups and as we speak this Kingston SSD has been placed in more than 20 different laptops and desktop machines since I made this video, not to speak about the different operatingsystems I have been playin' with. And I still have no errors at all
@SeriousDuckz It's a matter of very high read speed from the harddrive, combined with optimized Windows settings. It has to do with removing all kind of wait times and making sure that everything is optimal for fast booting. But the most important thing is the harddrive! It has a average rating of 185 MByte/s on readspeed!!
thanks for your reply, I don't have a SSD drive yet, I've seen other videos with SSD drives and it's fast, very fast! although nothing so fast as yours. But well, I guess I've to put a SSD drive in my buy list. Nice tip for the Kingston ones, good price/read speed racio :)
My htpc windows is XP too and by the way, what do you mean by without bios? with quick mode enabled?
@PoltergeistLamb I mean that the bios is not supposed to be timed only the time from after the bios until desktop is ready which is 5 seconds approx. You could do all kind of improving on your htpc like defragging and messing with the registry and so on, but that is of course risky business, so SSD is much easier and safe.
Thats awesome! Can you please give some advice? like links where I can get info to modify windows to boot like this? I've a HTPC (Media center) and need a faster boot because.. well, imagine your DVD player to boot in more than 30 sec... :P
@PoltergeistLamb It all depends on which operating system you're using.. One thing that will give you the best improvement would be a Solid-State-Drive which gives you extremely fast booting times no matter how your operating system is set up. I recommend Kingston SSDknow which are cheap and as you can see extremely fast. You should be able to find 30 GB edition for a very low price which you can use for the OS and then keep you normal harddisk for extra space.
@BritaniaRuleAgain This depends on your machine, if it's a laptop you shouldn't count on it, but you could use a external harddrive bay for containing the old HDD, so that you could still access the harddrive via USB.
If it's a desktop machine then you should have no problem having both on the system.
@steffen54321 The lit green light you mention is the battery light which indicates it's recharging the battery.
And the blacking out is only the product of my Nokia 5800's bad reaction to sudden lighting. So please look carefully at the text on the screen above the laptop, and tell me how I would be able to keep the phone in the same position if I faked this by cutting it together?
The SSD is capable of nearly 200 MB/s readspeed so please STFU or deal with the facts!
@Mantua64 if i guessed right your computer is newly reformatted because your desktop is only filled with 3 objects. mine boots 8 seconds when my windows is newly installed.
@jetfu400 Please bring me a video then.. And what service pack do you have on your fresh install? Since XP and XP with Service Pack 1 are insanely fast compared to Service Pack 3 because they don't have support for all the new features. The ram usage for XP Service Pack 3 is 200-300 ram while Service Pack 1 only use 50-75 mb ram.
fake!

@Mantua64 if you run it on windows 64 bit the like a fucking beaut but on 32 bit not as fast as 64 bit but would still be awesome :)
dubsteprocks 2 weeks ago
@dubsteprocks 64 bit is not as fast 32 bit in general, only at special cases.
32 bit is of smaller size on the disk, which makes it faster to load to the memory, simply put.
I would even think a 16 bit OS would be even faster, but of course very limited :)

You can make it faster than that:
Goto Start>Run>(type regedit)
Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\Prefetch Parameters\
Then change the value: "EnablePrefetcher" to 5

This is clearly fake. If you watch ~ 0:13 you'll notice that it blacks out.
Also, there's a lit green light just below the screen in the right corner, it was already turned on.
