What was the reason Dalai lama had to take refuge in India even when china was peacefully capturing Tibet without a single violent action?

If you look into Mike Smiths background, he is far from an innocent tourist, and you can find that he is a activist heavily involved in the Free Tibet Campaign as early as April 2003. So why did the west media call him a tourist and conveniently omitted his close connection with Free Tibet?

Sometimes a little scientific insight can help a lot. I think the Chinese government does block a small number of political sites. The effect is minimal. It is overblown because the West wants to lecture China. Quite on the contrary, more Chinese speak English than Westerner who can speak Chinese. The Westerner have severely limited information. Their views extremely narrow.

why dont you permit unobstructed access to ALL media sources in china? why is it that your government decides what you should read, watch or hear, ie ccvt for all vs choice for all? cant your people decide for themselves what they want to access, or is your government afraid of political descent?

Chinese people know their government is reforming.We would like to give time to our government toreform.Because we all know the human rights in China is much better than 20 or 10 years ago.We believe our government can reform succeed！I acknowledge Chinese government did some thing wrong before,but it changed now.All Chinese people are oppose Tibet independent.Chinese government not only have not quelled Tibetian.Government even gave many prerogatives to minorities，include Tibetian!!

I want to say I am not government!I am only a normal Chinese!I want democracy too!But I do not want my country in a turmoil just like most countries in the Africa!Although we cannot get democracy right now.But we can wait!China Communist Party is also changing!I believe!To wait Communist Party chang is better than disunity of my country and I do not want to live in a society as unstable as most of the countries in Africa or Iraq!Better living level is more important than democracy right now!

If we start a revolution now.Tibet will be independent,Xinjiang will be independent and Taiwan will be independent!A western person would not understand the unification of our country is how important to Chinese people!And if we start revolution right now.There will not appear a unity govrnment like now.So the society of China will be more unstable.People will become poor and poor like Iraq or CIS condition in 1991!
