That was interesting. We were talking about leprosy in our youth group so I decided to search for it here.
I don't want to argue, but I disagree, "All religions are the same" I don't call Christianity a religion, it's a relationship with Jesus, the Savior, not a set of rules. Christianity is like no other "Religion", you're never good enough in Christianity, God had to make Jesus because he loved us, but we will never be good enough because of sin, if it weren't for Jesus we'd all be doomed.
What a beautiful video and what beautiful people! I would love to do something to help educate people regarding this disease--it's a shame so many are misinformed to the point of banishing people from their communities.
Listening to these people talk I could almost forget the physical condition they're in. It's almost as if it's outshined by their inner beauty, dignity and grace.
Interesting, that disease has eroded these peoples physical beauty only to make their inner beauty shine through unobsturcted. These are wonderful, beautiful people.
Wow every time I watch people in the third world countries it amazes me how idiotic people are. I really wish we could break through the barrier of religion and educate these people give them education not money educate them how to sustain living, of the origin and etiology of the disease. It amazes me how they relate diseases to having somehow in their past life did something horrible or when they were young.
If you were born and raised in such cultures, you would believe the same things as everyone else around you. Their non-scientific explanations for life events are what has helped them to exist as long as they have. They may not conform to western conventions, but they are by no means idiotic. Try living 2 weeks in the wilderness and you may consider such people to be pinnacles of intellectual achievement, assuming that their practices help you live and prosper in their environment.
I wonder if any of these people can think back to who they might have contracted this from? There has got to be more hospitals to help people who first get this and flyers givin out to educated others. ~Raven
i hope to be here, to touch, talk, feel, laugh and bond with these LEPER PEOPLE one day...I have worked with the LEPERS and they brought me great JOY and taught me great LEsson in life. I had no idea this disease was still around, I thought it went out with the arc..such a sad vid but it's good to see that they still have hope and can smile x x x

I think sacrificing chickens and goats is an even bigger problem than leprosy. That kind of crap is moral leprosy.

You're way off the mark if my understanding is correct. As far as I know, about 500,000 people suffer from the disease in India alone.
